Is Shirou supposed to be some sort of self-insert blank slate character?
Dude is boring as sin and yet all the girls inexplicably love him...
Shirou is the complete opposite of a self insert.

That had to be one of my favorite parts in the series. When you find outI couldn't stop laughing!that she's cheating

"Brought to you by SKY".Hill Climb Girl
When she saw the "inspiration" vision and the vocal song kicked it, it was clear this short was made by people who had no real interest in cycling or showing their love for it as a hobby or as a sport - it was just a random theme picked to frame a lazy throwaway story about "a person who really likes something and makes a little progress in it because she really believed" or something. Lame.
Has anyone posted anything about Yuri Kuma Arashi's website update other than about the trailer?
Big story synopsis up now:
(note: Arashi ga Oka is the Japanese name of Wuthering Heights)
There seems to be something key to this "Barrier" concept (danshaku). I've probably not translated it properly. It seems that Life Sexy, Life Cool and Life Beauty are all members of the "Danshaku Court" referred to in the trailer, but I haven't read through any more information on them yet.
Most importantly, expect something approaching PABLO POWER:
I'm a bit confused as to whether it's ACTUALLY Studio Pablo or not, though. Chieko Nakamura is doing art direction, as she did on Penguindrum and Utena previously (that's immediately obvious from the architecture), but the show doesn't fit on Studio Pablo's schedule according to their website - after Wixoss finishes, they're not supposed to have a new show airing until April.
Art still looks lovely, though.
(Big UBW spoiler)You mean where Archer tells her to let Rin and him go in compensation for his alliance with her? Or where because Caster was trying to rule breaker Saber she ended up healing and turning the battle back in the heroes favor?
Yeah I'd like you to go into detail with that. Maybe he'll finally change at some point but so far he'd be the perfect fit for a generic harem self-insert.
And honestly, I've rarely seen a show where people tried to defend the content that's been released in the anime thus far with information from the entire story (as seen in the VN). I'll be seriously surprised if I can look at these episodes in hindsight and go "oh yeh it's actually totally great now!"
I should stop reading this thread completely. lolI've posted about this, others have posted about this, we've talked about both shorts and the project itself, if you don't pay attention don't ask people to explain it again!
The trailer I saw looked a lot more like Kingdom, in terms of the actual animation/movement, but yeah, it does try to look like a 2d anime I suppose.Hmm...arguably that's what's being done with Ronja. These are still distinctly ghibli designs.

Here's the ED which features only 2D sketches of the characters.
I just don't watch enough new kids cartoons to know what the landscape is nowadays, but I suppose that makes sense for tie-in stuff that nerds don't really talk about.I think all(?) 2D Western cartoons today are CG-assisted and rely on digital means of production. Flash is a very popular software. We might be discussing people turned off by 3DCG in this thread/anime fandom, but you can find people out there who will cause an uproar over Flash being used in 2D animation. A lot of people complained after the Steven Universe pilot was released and then for the actual show they simplified the designs to use in Flash. And there are even people who hate the whole digital to begin with and won't watch an anime/cartoon not totally hand-drawn/with film grain and all that.
In the West, 3DCG is prevalent. It will not make a show a gauranteed (financial) success though. Polygon Picture's Tron Uprising got cancelled, as did Titmouse's Motorcity, which played on the same channel right before or after it, and the latter is gorgeously done 2D in Flash (and Facinator). I guess it's risky business however you do it.
Popular 3DCG shows like the How to Train Your Dragon show and stuff like Doc McStuffins and Sofia the First targets the really young kids and sells a ton in
merchandise. Interestingly they are done by studios known more for their movies and that have largely abandoned 2D (Dreamworks and Disney). To me that says brand recognition is powerful and kids are the prime market (kind of obvious if you watch cartoons at all).
Hm... I dunno. I thought the vacuum bit was funnier. When she does that as a last desperate attempt to look cool by playing the card game it's really something, but I felt more sad for her at that point.
Ehhh... I don't know about seamlessly. A lot of anime will use CG cars now, and when they do, it usually sticks out like a sore thumb.I mentioned Hill Climb Girl earlier in this post in the thread, was pleasantly surprised to find so much if it is actually 3D after watching it.

It's quite interesting to see how CGI's been incorporated into anime over the years...the most dramatic example I can think of is Initial D.
From 1st stage back in the late 90s, where the cars were looking like PSOne-quality FMV, lol.
To 5th stage which started in 2012...the cars blend in with the rest of the anime almost seemlessly.
I forgot, what is Pablo Power anyway? Most importantly, expect something approaching PABLO POWER:
That part was pretty great too. I really need to pick up the BD at some point.

Parasyte - 6
The female cast here is hilariously terrible. What's up with that? The episode was okay overall, though. Liked Shinichi's development.
On sale at RightStuf right now. That part was pretty great too. I really need to pick up the BD at some point.
The problem is that it's in all caps, so I have to assume it's ironic.Isn't it about great looking backgrounds from Studio Pablo?
I'm really looking for more Dark Knight antics, given what I remember about the post-anime novels. In terms of anti-social self-aware protagonists, I feel like he rides the line perfectly between the idealized life of Haganai and the suicide-pact life of Aku no Hana.Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru End
Hachiman's life of a loner is definitely a interesting one. Too bad it's so short, but a sequels coming and I already caught up reading the novels which are really good, definitely worth reading. If anyone is wondering if the plot gets better after the anime, it does. By the way, I'm kind of half expecting Hachi to end up with Saika, instead Yui or Yukino (not that I wouldn't mind either them also), so that it could live up to it's name.
I like this show more than I should because it pisses off the Nobunaga purists. lolCame in today
I still feel like they do more with less in the first season, but I suppose the second season allows for more elaborate stories.Yama no Susume - Season 1
Felt a pressing need for some healing anime, and decided to finally watch this. It's only a bunch of 3 minute episodes, so it didn't take long. Pretty fun show. Unlike Pupipo, it doesn't really try to do something particularly ambitious with the short anime format, but instead maximizes the runtime to show stages of character growth instead. As with all healing shows, the pace is leisurely and deliberate, and it emphasizes the value and importance of ordinary moments spent with friends. I enjoyed how the series was laid out, and it's nice to see a realistic progression in the character's interest in hiking, instead of having a grand goal from the start. It feels like a solid prologue season leading into what is supposed to be a much more elaborate and longer second season. Looking forward to starting that too.

Too bad a second season seems unlikely at this point.

There's always the light novels. lolThat sucks. It ended with a cliffhanger.
I think Treme is a tighter show in that Simon and Co are more comfortable representing a slice of life and handling multiple storylines, but it's also not as... explicitly preachy as The Wire. Like, the first season is very "This is the real New Orleans you stupid American fucks", but it just calms down and becomes a look at how life never really settled down after Katrina.Hey firehawk good timing. Not too far off from finishing the Wire. How's Treme comparatively?
IMPOSSIBLE!Even on the Internet, not everyone is ironic all the time.
Wonder when someone will make the western equivalent of all those harem Oda Nobanaga shows.
"I Got Sent Back In Time to the American Revolution and All the Founding Fathers are Cute Girls!"

We already have Outlander!should do a whole series with the violence toned down. Jane Wilkes Boothe can hit Lincoln in the back of the head with a rubber band in Ford Theater

Code Geass 13
C.C.'s best scene so far. Giving that dose of reality to Lelouch after he was getting all hesitant after killing Shirley's father. He's killed so many people thus far but now is getting emotional just cause one of them was close to a friend of his? That ain't how this works, buddy. Everybody who dies leaves people grieving behind them. Shirley's no different. On that note, why the hell do they wear their school uniforms to a funeral?
Shirley seems to know now that Lelouch is Zero. Oh boy. Gonna get uuuuuuugly. If he weren't injured he could just use Geass to make her forget. But this show seems to be going in a different direction.
New OP and ED aren't very good. Old ones were better.
There's always the light novels. lol

But also like The Wire though, it's also tremendously underrated and under appreciated, because people have already forgotten about New Orleans and because it's not about dragons or people in 1920s outfits being gangsters. lol
IMPOSSIBLE!
So he's Laura's sister Mary, and he's always jealous of her sister getting all the attention. No one cares about Scotland until Mr. Jeff becomes an IS representative candidate.
Also, it has the best OP.All right. Will give it a watch. Cheers.
You have zero idea what's coming. I'm so giddy. I love when people watch Geass.

Man did I fall in love with the OST, it's amazing. I've been humming it all day long. I hope it's used in the later episodes like in episode 6. Sooooooo Good :0
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo - 01
Hmm, this was alright I suppose. Had some funny bits but they all relied on the same thing - lewdness. I hope the comedy evolves into more than just that.
Misaki reminded me ofMinorin from Toradora, I'm too grumpy for their.. positively eccentric personalities, so she's already a no go in my book. Didn't see much of Aoyama but I'm already rooting for her.worst girl
I'll give it the three episode rule.
