In this episode the masochistic tendencies of our MC are made clear! Oh sure, Inaba may try to dampen the reality of the situation by calling him a "selfless freak" who just finds himself going out of his way to help people in areas where no one else volunteers but I think I've seen enough anime by this point to see where this is going. Couple this with his love for "wrestling" and the art of "receiving" and I'm almost certain he'll drop that boring old Iori and end up with Fujishima instead. OTP confirmed!
Hmm, not sure what to think about for the beginning sequence of this episode. Understandably the situation they've found themselves in is a stressful one but that boundary between what was otherwise a light hearted beginning to a more serious tone was crossed seemingly without any sort of external trigger. One moment we're talking about a declaration of love and the next we get hit with "Everyone, except yourself, is an enemy." Which is a line that conflicts pretty heavily with Inaba caring so much about Iori's fragility like 5 minutes later. Her outburst a tad later on seems a bit more genuine in comparison.
Yui's backstory is about what I expected but frankly the progression of events after it bugged me. It feels cheap having a trauma that effects every interaction you have with the opposite sex that you've been carrying for a months/years being solved seemingly within the span of like 10 seconds. Good thing our caring (and now unquestionably masochistic) MC with no signs of carrying any sort of emotional baggage himself was there to save the day. Sigh. Really hoping this isn't a theme that's carried on through the rest of the episodes.
