SEED's old men are amazing, and worthy of being in the best Gundam. Shit, Athrun is more than cool enough to be whereever he wants. Only issue with SEED is Kira, IMO.

I won't deny that Athrun is cooler than Kira, but I think Kira still vastly outranks the other boys in the show. All of Athrun's comrades, Tolle, Kuzzey, Sai, Shinn et al are all much less cool than Kira.

Mami isn't that busty is she? Maybe for her age I guess but then again I went to school with a girl who was already pretty busty by early junior high. The other girls would pick on her or tease her a bit. More the combination of developing pretty early and being busty. Some busty girls seem to get picked on just as much as flat chested girls :(
That's because they're just jealous.
Jesus, those K-On prices...don't make me do this.
Do it.

Science, theory of lightspeed travel, dat Gainax bounce with boobs, finding the Luxion in lightspeed travel as a rogue object and the shattering of Noriko's heart when she find it only leading into the empy abyss of space, the new friendship, Wakamoto being a badass.

That space visual porn is hot.

This show.

Did you see my post a page or two back? I pretty much jizzed myself over the same things. You are gonna love the rest of this. The animation never goes balls to the wall, and there was some heavy use of stills, but the story goes to some uncharted depths.

My only complaint (if there is one), is
that with a story this ambitious, 6 episodes leaves little time for believable character development. You just have to accept that characters suddenly evolve on the spot to accommodate limited space.
Not really a spoiler - but tagged out of courtesy.

Oh that's fine by me, and yeah I totally scanned over your posts a couple pages back. I keep looking over each episode you did as I finish one, heh.

Nichijou Sugoroku board game

Greatest tote bag I will receive in my life

Pack-in "Nichijou" Playing Cards from Shonen Ace 2012 October Issue

Kyoto Animation's ParaPara Trump Nichijou Playing Cards
==================================================

The Patlabor boxes are great. As others have shared already, they're heavy-duty with storyboards and "archives" packaged in. The two feel great in the hand while holding "Moses and Ten Commandments" style.

The board game had a nice cover, but I'll probably never open it (since I can't read any type of Japanese).

As far as the cards go, the KyoAni pack TRUMPs
*snickers*
the monthly manga's pack. The paper used for the ParaPara cards are of a higher quality. They are all color. The art was made specifically for the pack by different staff from KyoAni. The names of which people are behind what process of the card designs is stated on the back of the box.

Meanwhile, only the royal suits were made exclusively for the Shonen Ace pack (which I'd guess were designed by Keiichi Arawi).

I was really looking forward to getting my hands on this import and I'm

Those are some awesome cards!

The voice of heaven
AKA Norio Wakamoto doing karaoke at the beginning got me all hot and bothered before the episode even started.

That aside...

This episode was all about the
realism of war and the enemy they all face. I can't wait to see how Noriko becomes stronger after the death of Smith, and judging by the end, something crazy as hell is being built in secret. Also onee-sama is kind of a bitch, but she's right-minded given what Noriko has shown so far, so it's hard to hate her for that.

I was starting to like Smith, but out of nowhere he was already dead :(

The escalation in this show is great and just I am orgasming from the visuals. I mean, this shit is so hot looking, has a great implementation of technology, and is just great.

Gunbuster 4 - 6

Done. 10/10 an absolute classic and a masterpiece. I was moved. I managed to watch this on BD, and the impact of the final episode - which was presented in black and white, and saw a switch from 4:3 to theatrical widescreen - was nothing short of breath taking. The BD conversion must have been painstaking because it just so gorgeous man.

The ending was perfect. This is what it means to be satisfied.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
One of the best ever!

I like you.

Glad you enjoyed it. Now you just need to start watching the superior Diebuster next!

Nothing hits the spot like a cool glass of FLCL.

Did you call me? Nakama.

Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger

I had a lot of fun with this show and recommend it to peoplewho might not even be into Sentai type shows as they might be pretty entertained like I was. There's rumors that a second season is coming this spring.

I second this. Thanks to Animegaf I was able to watch Akibaranger and I'm down for a second season. =D

Eureka Seven AO END

...Oh well...
I don't think it was a waste of time to watch, just need to find something better next and the impressions and art style of Gunbuster...that might be next.

Episode Three. Not only does this show have incredible hand drawn animation, it's also really bringing the space porn! This is so good! We've had discussions on the effects of relativity and time dilation, stars aging, the size of the universe, and space warping. They've even talked about clearing parsecs to create gravitational warps for travel. On top of that Noriko waxes poetically on the romanticism of the cosmos!

When you watch Gainax's earlier work it's pretty easy to tell that the people working on these properties were huge scene fiction and space dorks. It's kind of cute how their enthusiam shines through in their work.

Well, I don't know about that. While it's pretty inconsistent across the OVA's there are some pretty amazing sequences.

Gunbuster >> Diebuster

This is the truth, although I love both shows to death.

When I first saw the ending to Diebuster I think I cried, jumped out of my seat, screamed, laughed, everything. That was after being a huge fan of Gunbuster for a few years, so yeah, although Gunbuster is a superior show both of them have amazing endings.

Hey, dudes, just a heads up - the next OT is going to need updated impressions for each show and if you want to say something about it so I don't have to pretend I watched all forty shows, just send a pm my way with your thoughts on it (in some concise format preferably, no nudity) with the title of the show. It looks like this thread will come to a close by the weekend.

One Piece: Episode of Nami - Tears of the Navigator and the Bonds of Friendship

This is one of the most powerful anime I've seen all year. It's certainly not because of the production values, and some of the visual direction is a bit spotty at times, but fuck it they really nail this readaptation of the Arlong Park arc where it counts. All the heart, all the soul, and the very essence of why One Piece is the most popular manga in Japan for the last decade or so.

Nami's personal story is something I always felt really strongly about in the manga. I love how brutal and harsh the world in One Piece can be, but Oda always finds ways to put hope within every character. Nami is a great character who isn't perfect, and far from a typical heroine, but it was first through her where Luffy's true nature struck me as something so heroic and selfless, he becomes so much more than just a good person - he is hope itself transfigured into a shounen lead.

It's interesting how small a role Luffy actually has in this particular story, yet how powerful his presence is even in non-participation. Luffy's role in the story is a shield. He is a shield for all his friends and everything he cares about. Until he needs to be used, he does not care to participate because there is no role for him. He doesn't need to know what happened in the past, he looks only to the future. As long as you are his friend, he will be there for you when the time comes.

And when Luffy goes into action, there's nothing stopping him and his crew. The gates of hell itself will not be able to stop him. While this special is pretty lengthy, I was never bored by it, even though most of the action is towards the end. The build-up to everything made it all worth while. Seeing all the memories I had of the arc being adapted in reasonable quality was really something. By the end, the audience is supposed to feel like Luffy, and Luffy does what the audience cannot do, he beats the shit out of all the bad guys who totally deserve everything that's coming their way. So fucking good.

I won't lie, I teared up a bunch of times throughout. What an emotional rollercoaster. It's amazing how powerful Oda's storytelling is, when even knowing everything that will happen, just watching it play out on screen is enough to tug at my heartstrings. Every success One Piece has is totally deserved.

Usopp Hammer is still the best scene in the whole arc
and the self mutilation scene is one of the most unexpected and powerful scenes in the whole thing

It's even more notorious when Evangelion stops being kaiju monster of the week splork and becomes psychedelic character study powered by shrooms. Say what you will about their methods, but they put a lot of love in what they were doing.

They did, although all of their work outside of Honneamise was tainted by crass otaku commercialism.

It's a somber take on the Geass universe where the Japanese have become unwanted refugees in a racist European Union. It's hard to take the whole discrimination angle seriously due to just how blunt and earnest it is, though. Even considering the audience, the way they portray the relationship between the EU and the Elevens feel jingoistic, a caricature of the kind of resentment that such a dynamic would bring about. It feels like they're trying to tackle 'mature themes' but whenever the subject of the Elevens comes up the caricatures come out in force and whatever vibe they go for is ruined.

That said I totally enjoyed this otherwise. The mecha action is swell and I'm down with the kind of story Akane went for. And as a fan of the series - warts and all - the arrival of
Suzaku and C.C. next episode
is pretty fanwanky stuff. Can't wait.
