Little Busters-Wafu Wafu
The Little Busters are a group of highschool students who want to play baseball. They don't.
The next epic from Key, I guess the best way to describe this show is "inoffensive". It doesn't make you want to pull your eyes out from being hideously ugly like many Key related shows, outside of After Story, nor has the writing been particularly bad. It's certainly teased some crazy drama(the main character has narcolepsy or something), but otherwise not much going on in that area. The cast makeup and premise made me think it would be another Angel Beats, ineptly mixing bad comedy and extremely overwrought drama. However, that hasn't really been the case thus far. It's mostly been an ok comedy with rather light drama, with the exception of the episode focusing on one of the retarded girls, in which she remembers she had a brother. It's also avoiding the typical harem tropes that are common in Key shows, having a large male cast and girls who don't seem particularly interested in our MC. Of course a number of these girls are also mentally deficient, but not all of them so I suppose that's a step up for Key girls. As you might expect the main character is the least interesting/fun male character in the show, but at least the rest of the cast can be entertaining. Muscles Guy and the Little Busters leader are both good for a few laughs here and there. The music is pretty weak, with cheap tunes taken from a visual novel so no surprises there.
In short, it's basically the best Key show outside of Clannad. I know that isn't saying much, but there you go. Although many may be dismayed by the lack of ghost lolis, dead girls, dream sequences, mental retardation, and coma patients, I imagine such developments will eventually surface. Maybe they will all die in a freak baseball accident. Stay tuned.
As you may have heard, this seasons "uguu" or "gao" is "wafu". Said character has barely appeared in the show thus far, although that appears to be changing in the future. You may see this word increase in usage in animegaf going forward, so be prepared. This concludes my public service announcement.
