Fallout 4 Important Release Info ( PC Sys Requirements and more)

This will be the first Fallout PC game I play at launch. Been out of PC gaming for a while, so hopefully this brings me back in.

For those that have played Fallout on PC, is it a better experience with a gamepad or KBM?

I always liked KBM more, it depends on the UI though. I played the other games with mods that made the UI better for keyboard.

So happy that we can unlock the game early via Australian VPN. I will definitely be taking Monday and Tuesday off. Makes up for the stupid Tuesday releases that we still use for no good reason. Because hey who doesn't want a brand new game to come out at the beginning of the work week and not at the start of the weekend.

Probably getting it for the PS4 even though I have a capable rig. Every Bethesda game I get for the PC I never finish because I tinker with mods or wait for upcoming mods. Even if mods are coming to consoles, I have no hope on those being any good at all.

Just trying to finish a Bethesda game. I'll probably get it for the PC when FO4 GOTY comes out.

I've had better luck using a gamepad with the vanilla user interface, but once modders create a new UI - I switch over to KBM.

That's a silly reason not to consider getting it on PC, there is always another mod. Morrowind is still having mods despite being over 10 years old now.

Mods are the problem, keep playing with those and not playing the game.

Respect. When I started getting into PC gaming I had this huge problem where I would stop playing the game to alt tab into NeoGAF or something.

I have more self control now but it was a real problem

30 fps, are you kidding or what?

Well the 670 is not exactly top of the line stuff....I don't see it cutting it for console visuals at 60fps.

And if the game is heavy on compute the 670 might not fare as well as some believe. I'm just going on various compute shaders heavy games released and the 670 does the job as long as you aim for 30fps.

670 just hit 3 years old. It's not old. It's also still a $400 graphics card. It's crazy that it wouldn't play this game at 60fps.
400€ at launch, but compared to sub 250 cards of today (960/R9 285/380) it's not worth much.

Just do a quick search in modern games and you'll see the 670 is really not cutting it for 60fps in visually demanding game. Fallout 4 is hardly a graphical milestone but I don't think a 670 will cut it for 60fps with console settings, lower than that sure.

It's not crazy. It's 2 gens old and the GPU architecture has also changed. It's price point is irrelevant. 3 years ago ps4 and x1 weren't even out.

The 670 will tear right through Fallout 4 at the highest settings, think you are overestimating it's demand. Fallout 4 was originally planned to release on last-gen consoles afterall.Sure heavy modding it might struggle, mostly due to the vram usage but 1080p - it iwll not have a problem with 60+ at max settings.

I would be flat out amazed if it ran 60FPS on a GTX670. There is no reason that it should, if it does it just means that Bethesda isn't pushing the engine hard enough.

In pure performance, a 670 is ~30% faster than a PS4. As such, it shouldn't be able to do 100% more frames even at console settings, never mind ultra.

I won't follow you on that, like really not. I think it's more realistic to expect it to broadly match consoles with a slightly higher framerate.

Did you miss the article where Digital Foundry built a 750 Ti system which beat console settings? The 670 is like 2x better than a 750 Ti.

If my 670 was able to get 30-40 on witcher 3 on ultra minus the hairworks. I know it can easily max FO4 at 1080p @ 60 fps. Nothing shown comes close to the graphics of Witcher 3.

The 750ti punches above its weight for sure, but it's also a revised architecture compared to the 670.

I don't see how those comparisons make any sense whatsoever, you are comparing apples to oranges here. Different engines work in different ways, there is no way we can tell how Fallout will perform based on X game.

Didn't realize that was the case. Still it's not going to "tear through" F4 if that means max vidual settings with 60fps.

It's a safe bet though, going by their recent releases and still the same engine. I'm really not sure why you think Fallout 4 will be demanding in any shape or form.

That's just crazy to me. Should I be updating my graphics card every 2-3 years?

No, but if you want to run a game twice as fast as it runs on consoles, you might not be able to do that at maximum settings on a mid-end card older than those consoles.

It's not "the same engine". Again, nothing breath-taking graphics wise but I reckon it will ask for a bit more than many assume. We don't even know the full extent of the PC version either, how high will it scale etc..

Whoever has a 670 should not pre-order and wait for user reports and benchmarks. I'm well aware benchmarks can't be taken 100% at face value but they should give a rough idea of performance.

The game looks pretty good in places :

I don't see a 670 running this at 60fps.

I get where you are coming from and actually agree. However,I still have not seen anything spectacular, graphics wise, that hint that this game will cause a 670 to struggle that much. Just looks so lackluster to me on the graphics side. Thankfully, I put gameplay above graphics. :D

Maybe I've been spoiled by the graphics of other games and have my expectations out of wack. Guess all we can do is wait for the benchmarks.

Sooo my PC doesn't have enough system ram, GTX 570 SC with 1.2GB RAM (doesn't meet the 2GB), and my CPU is a i7 920 (could overclock, but I'd still have to worry about the other two issues, plus potential problems with the overclocking)

I wanted to build an all new PC before Fallout 4 comes out but not sure I can right now.

Maybe I'll just go PS4... my first fallout console experience ever. I just wish they would confirm mods will work on PS4 like they will on XB1

It does. The PR man for Bethesda tweeted that all versions include English voice over.

Thank you!!! I couldnt order a pipboy edition in the uk so used amazon france last week. Delivery date 12 november phew. Buying a standard copy as well at midnight though :D

Mods are the problem, keep playing with those and not playing the game.

I solved that with preordering on both PC and PS4. Bought season pass on PS4 as well but not on PC.

I will play the game on PS4 and try out mods on PC. The when I am done with it on PS4 I will replay it with the mods I like on PC.

How much system ram do you have?
The only problem I see form what oyu posted is the 570: if that were to be upgraded to something else your rig would be pretty alright.

hopefully it will come SLI ready. Dont fail me Nvidia >_>

I hope this game is better built than FO3 and NV were because I have a computer that meets the recommended specs for FO4, but I just had to abandon a replay of FO3 and NV because the games were crashing every 10 - 30 minutes on me no matter what I seemed to do. >.>
