Very late game spoilers:
Okay, the late game faction crap is stupid. False dichotomies everywhere. I get what they tried to do, but it was very poorly done.
Exactly what I feel, except the game got so bugged that I could only stick with one faction lol.
Problem is the Vertibirds are made out of paper mache and a lone Super Mutant can take them down with a spitball. Don't get in one of those flying coffins.I kind of want to side with BoS just because seeing Power Armor Knights jumping out of Vertibirds is way cooler than Preston telling me to go help settlers while chilling on a couch in Sanctuary.

This being my first game, I'm like 36 hours in now. I absolutely love it. Some annoyances here and there but overall I really like it.

Getting tier 2 idiot savant to perk on a main quest completion for +1300 XP... feels good man
I have been debating to myself who to go with for the past few days, but your post convinced me to go with the Railroad
Same.
Question: if we start killing bos now, what happens? Do you become an enemy of the entire faction, or just the ones in that area?
I kinda wanna get started now...
Can areas lose their cleared status on the map? Kind of annoying if they do.
Not only that but terminals and locks can be picked/hacked again. Takes away the sense of progression. I don't mind enemies respawning but I don't like items in cabinets and stuff respawning.
Agreed. And/or make good use of spoiler blocks, please. Can people who have beaten the game make use of the spoiler thread? People are gonna be bailing out of the OT in droves thanks to people posting very late endgame plot twists, just because..
how long did it take before your first settlement started getting more settlers? I've got plenty of food, water, power and defense, as well as the recruitment beacon, But I still don't have anyone new.
So is it just me, or does Curie have really bad pathing/follow AI after her quest. She always falls way behind, and is always hard to find when I need to trade stuff to her. At least compared to the other companions.
Just a PSA, it seems that special traders are bugged in the fact that they don't play nice with Sanctuary. Looked up people having problems with unique townies, but the constant with all of these characters is Sanctuary, the first time I chose to recruit one of these characters to Sanctuary is the only time I seriously started having these bugs though.
She seems to fall behind even if there's no combat at allI noticed that too. she was the first companion that would completely disappear if I sprinted away at any point. I always figured that she was weak and getting downed a lot?
It slows down as you approach the maximum, which is based on your Charisma.
well if its one settlement you're referring to, I've noticed that freeing up other settlements usually brings in more people for your main settlement - this pertains to any other established settlements w/ beacons...oh yeah charisma plays a huge role also - getting that up will also do the trickhow long did it take before your first settlement started getting more settlers? my charisma is at level 10. and I've yet to gain a single settler

Can you buy / find "skeletal" power armour frames?, I've got enough parts to build another couple of (for decoration only) power armours, but I assume I need to skeletal frame to put into the power armour cradle/frame and attach the parts too?
Pretty sure you can buy one from some guy in Diamond City (I think the one next to your house?)
The weapons vendor. Can't remember his name but it's Hispanic. In between the baseball guy and Myrna the general/junk vendor. The assaultron weapon vendor in Goodneighbor sells them too.Any idea who it is?
I swear the terminals and notes are way better written than the actual quests.

The last receipt I got for buying a sandwich is better written than the quests.
For some reason the game's not letting me build a 2nd power armor station in Sanctuary despite having all the materials and perks. Wtf.
I still can't find where to collect money earned by stores in settlements?!

I had 9 luck (before item bonuses) and been testing this perk since the beginning of the game, investing in new ranks as soon as they opened up. It felt like a 10% chance to proc at most. It would probably appear once for every 50 raiders I've killed, but it's true that I was mostly 1-2 shotting them due to crit luck build + Righteous Authority combo. The perk itself has a chance to proc on each shot that doesn't kill the enemy afaik.

Few observations.
Mods are shared among all linked settlements. I have weapon mods in the Red Rocket but I can attach them via the weapon workbench in my Star Light Drive-In settlement..
Stored armor/weapon/cooking workbenches aren't shared across linked settlements. So if you have spare ones in a settlement you aren't going to bother with. Scrap em.
Materials are shared in BUILD mode only. You can't see pooled inventory in workbenches. So, if Red Rocket and Starlight Drive-In are linked and you have 50 Wood in Red Rocket and 100 in Starlight. You'll see 150.
I think most people knew this but it might help some.
Wait are you telling if you start doing the brotherhood quest line, it locks you out of the freedom trail ones ?..ummm fuck.
Yeah, at this point I really missed all the ways you could influence the ending in New Vegas. No such luck here. There's no convincing sides to work together, no scaring them off without resorting to violence, nothing. Just lots and lots of death.
