Fallout 4 |OT2| Farming Simulator 2287

Wait are you telling if you start doing the brotherhood quest line, it locks you out of the freedom trail ones ?..ummm fuck.

No.

If you want to be sure without getting spoiled, just make a hard save every time you're about to turn in a quest. Going with the BoS, I had the game explicitly warn me when I was to become hostile with the Institute. It didn't do that for the Railroad, instead auto-failing every other quest I had with them when I turned in a certain quest to Maxson.

So just keep that save around.

Well, I'm still of the opinion that (BoS):

Declaring war on the BoS is really really not a good idea in the long run unless you're going to turn your organisation into an army and are prepared to engage in a long term war with zealots. The BoS pretty much specialises in armed conflict. It's their way of life. The Railroad messing with that shit is laughable.

Pretty much. Since we're veering into ending disucssion, I'll quote this post and reply to it in the spoiler thread. UNMARKED SPOILERS BEHIND THIS LINK: here.

2 questions:

- Is the audio mix garbage? Can´t seem to find the right settings. Dialogues are all over the place volume wise - anything I can do about that? Sometimes I can´t hear a thing, sometimes I have to turn the volume down to not wake up my daughter.

- Inventory management still confuses me. I think weapons are always compared to the one I have currently equipped? So a shotgun is compared to the pistol I currently use and not with the other shotgun I have? That makes no sense.

Not sure where that is true, since all games where BoS are shown as an army with military agenda are either non-canon or close to be non-canon. BoS are a secretive small organisation, that has high tech weaponry and armor to facilitate small squads with high survivability. This thing with battleships and giant robots are just fan-fic level of canon.

Question about the Human Error quest relating to Covenant-

As I was talking with the doctor about the synth, Honest Dan suddenly threatened me, saying he had a contract and would kill me if he needed to. Then I declined the doctor's proposal and as expected everybody started attacking me, including Honest Dan, who I killed first. Then he gets up and starts helping me fight everybody else, and after the fight, I release the girl, and then Honest Dan and I split the reward and act like we're best buds. I don't understand what happened here and what Honest Dan had to do with all this...

Not sure I get you. The battleships and giant robots are canon. FO3 and FO4 are cannon. However the BoS were described back in the day is irrelevant. Current lore indicates they're about as secretive as a giant, armored bull in a kindergarten :p

Finally back to playing this after having a break.

Still as much fun as ever, still as buggy as ever. Gosh darn I love it.

I think it's cool as hell how the magazines show up on magazine stands when you put them on there.

As far as i remember BoS was always supposed to be a group safeguarding technology for the future once mankind had sorted itself out, but had very little interest in getting involved.

So them turning up like they have hear is a little out character from that original goal but it's explained away by Maxson being hard core.

Grenade spam is terrible. Call of Duty style

Explosives are pretty OP, not sure if it's worse at higher difficulties, but at very hard, enemies (Forgers in particular) are extremely dangerous with the amount of explosives they sling at you.

So much so that I have shifted my build to use explosives, as mines are very, very useful.

West Coast Brotherhood, yes. Those guys were beaten into submission by the NCR and, by the time of New Vegas, barely existed at all anymore. Their leadership is supposedly still at Lost Hills, but who knows.

East Coast Brotherhood, not so much. They expanded a lot, because it never had any real opposition. There were no other factions vying for control of the Capital Wasteland, except when the Enclave ran there after the destruction of Navarro. Due to Lyons' unique style of governance, they probably had a lot of new recruits and sympathizers.
Maxson's a bit more old-fashioned in his approach to leading the Brotherhood, which makes sense considering his lineage.

And in a future where we have Power Armor, stealth suits, super mutants and ghouls, having a giant robot doesn't seem too far-fetched.

Only thing that really doesn't make sense is why Maxson would send so many of the Brotherhood to the Commonwealth, including himself. "He's a warrior", sure, but you'd think the supreme leader would stay behind at the Citadel. Who's even in charge in the Capital Wasteland now? It's just odd.

There's a mod that makes Adam Sandler shout 'YOU BLEW IT!' every time you break a lockpick.

Why, modding community? just why?

LiQuid!

Can you buy / find "skeletal" power armour frames?, I've got enough parts to build another couple of (for decoration only) power armours, but I assume I need to skeletal frame to put into the power armour cradle/frame and attach the parts too?

1. I've only encountered this super rarely. Like, 2 dialogues that sounded very distant and were barely audible. Not sure why you're encountering this as the norm.

2. Don't use the comparison they do (the 'auto' comparison). Just don't. It's a linear comparison and doesn't take most of the item's stats in mind. The stats are basic enough that you should do manual comparisons, especially for weapons. Besides, you want to bear your perks in mind when you look at gear. The stat sheet won't factor in a lot of that stuff. Like, can the weapon be silenced? is it? do you have a perk that increases damage on silenced weapons? the stat sheet won't factor that in, you have to do it manually.

This is getting insane. Almost every place I go to now has someone with a missile launcher or fatman enemy. Once j hear that whistle noise, I'm pretty much dead if I hear it too late or don't know where it's coming from.

But that grenade spam tho. It's almost getting to throw my controller at the tv levels of frustration.

I'm kinda terrified to do a melee run but this game is fun.

About ten hours in: why aren't I finding any fusion cores? I'm fining a ton of fusion cells but I see those don't do anything for power armor. What's the purpose of those fusion cells?

Ammo! for certain energy weapons.

Scope out locations using a ranged weapon with a scope (as advanced as possible) to spot enemies with dangerous weapons beforehand. Hell, you can tag enemies Far Cry 3 style with the super advanced scopes.

I was wondering what would happen if I off the Diamond City Radio host, so I did that. I now only hear the music and no more nervous dude. Damn that's yet another cool touch. But I am going to reload my other save game because I want the dude to live.

He has a quest that also affects the station.

Just explore everywhere. You'll eventually swim in fusion cores. Right now i have 61.
There are the many generators and some enemies, like sentry bots, drop them.

Beats me, dude. I have 30 of them, but then again I very rarely use power armor

Adamantium Skeleton and Toughness made a HUGE difference for me. I can stand out in the open versus a small village of super mutants and not die...on Survival, without Power Armor. Grenades still hurt if they land at right at your feet but I can't overstate how massive the difference with or without those two perks is. Before I got them I was dying nearly instantly to everyone who even looked at me the wrong way.

That's cool stuff for sure, really like that.

By the way, the Abernathy Farm was being attacked, so I helped out. And then this Gene dude offers me to buy a dog from him. Dogmeat now has a female buddy in Sanctuary. Cool haha.

both good answers. & when these 2 suggestions still aren't enough, it usually means you've just plain had enough of the game (for me, anyway :) )...

Yeah, I guess I am still in denial that the lore is what FO3 and FO4 suggest, along with pre-war Jet.

I know it's not at all related to FO, but......

Can someone please explain to me what "canon" means.

In this case, it's basically a catch-all term for "established lore". It's everything written by official sources and accepted into the general continuity. In Fallout, for instance, the events in Fallout 1, 2, 3, New Vegas and 4 are considered canon. Brotherhood of Steel and Tactics are considered canon until they're superceded by other sources. A story written by your next-door neighbour and publishing on a fan website would be non-canon.

In some cases it's more complicated. Look at Star Wars. That franchise had a canon that stretched back since 1977 and covered hundreds of books, video games and comics. After the Disney acquisistion, most of that was all declared non-canon.

It's all a bit open to interpretation, though. I'm sure there's people out there who only consider Fallout 1 and 2 to be canon.

I had a problem with this mission as well.

I would do everything in the first settlement that the quest starts in, and honest dan would be fine with me. As soon as i entered the area at the sewer pipe, he would get hostile, and all of the guards would as well. I think it was because I was using tesla coils on my power armor, Every time I went in I got attacked no matter what I did, but when I took it off it was fine and allowed me to complete the mission.

Thanks, I think I get it.

Basically, official and sanctioned (canon), and non-official (non-canon)

Pretty much, yes.

In Fallout's case, you can play your character and do whatever you wish but ultimately one of the possibilities is made canon. We know the Chosen One from Fallout 2 made certain choices during the events of that game, because their repercussions are mentioned in New Vegas. Same with Fallout 3. In Fallout 4 we learn that the Brotherhood survived and the Citadel remained standing, even though you could literally nuke it from orbit during Broken Steel.

Called them out, and they showed their true colors.

Then I let my 12 gauge do the talking.

You did their quest? Cause I accepted it, while of course having plenty of older save files if I hate the outcome. I wanna see what happens but maybe I should put all my possessions in a container first.

Jesus christ, I've come across a Gunner Fortress at level 31 (survival difficulty) so I thought I'll go for it and try my luck .. how hard could it really be?

NOPE.

Theses guys were armed to the mother-frigging teeth. Fatman? Check. Missile Launcher? Check. Plasma Rifle? Check.

I noped the fuck outta there fast (after 4 deaths by nuke I learnt my lesson).

I'll be back you fuckers, I'll be back in my X-01..

FONV takes place at the same time and BoS there is the same. West coast / East coast BoS argument is more viable if you want to explain stuff to me.

Then things escalated dramatically.

Technically there is Fallout Bible that covers everything for FO1, FO2. FONV is very consistent with them, so you'll be mostly covered with it. But since FO3 and FO4 have a lot of retcons, I am not sure FB will do you any good in the long run. For example, Jet was created in FO2 by Myron, however FO4 states that it's a pre-war drug. Also there are a lot of pre-war appearances of Enclave power armor pieces stashed in FO4, which couldn't get there since it was developed post-war by Enclave government. The whole lore behind Super Mutants now is inconsequential, since both in FO3 and FO4 they were created by different means and resemble original ones mostly by coincidence.

Wait what? Mods are stored as part as your character's inventory, right? That you can use them in various settlements is merely because at that time you have them stored in your item inventory, not that they're "shared"... maybe I'm missing something.

I tested this last night.

I dumped all my weapon mods at Red Rocket Workbench so there are no mods in my inventory.
Red Rocket is linked to Starlight Drive-in via supply line.

So when I used the Weapons Workbench at Starlight Drive-In all my mods are shared.

I know this because some say " attach mod" not "build mod". So they act like mats basically.

I never checked if I could actually see them in the Starlight Drive-In Workbench but as long as they are shared I'm good.

I mean, how does a Bandit come across a god damn Gatling Laser?

P.S. I love this game.
