The review thread isn't going to be up until around the time the game is out anyway

In which case I mean... why would you be there... and not on your system... playing Fallout 4? I mean, I know the old adage "We like talking about games more than playing them", but you won't see me in these threads for radioactive dust come the 10th.

Embargo ends on 9th and if you aren't on PC [magic of VPN] you will be around for reviews thread and OT. I wonder if mods allow OT to go up early because a lots of PC gamers will be unlocking early with VPN.

I'll do both. I don't play very many games, especially at launch, so it is rare that I actually get to both participate and read a thread about a game that launches that I like. I'll play, do some reading, maybe add my own impressions, go back to playing, rinse and repeat.

Fair enough, I know I'll only have time to work or play though!

Still debating if I should wait a few months to play it, so at least some of the bugs are fixed...

Those imaginary bugs? I mean you can assume it, fine, but we have no clue really

Looks fine to me, as long as the framerate is stable and I get a classic Bethesda open-ended RPG world I don't care about texture res and shadows. I actually prefer the look of this to witcher 3 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Time to bail out of this thread I think. To many screenshots are coming lol. Game looks amazing though. See you in the wasteland on the 10th folks :)

The dialogue options appear to be so basic.

In a Bethesda game?

Get outta here.

Surely, since the game has been gold now for a couple weeks, no major patches should be required now right? I mean, its not like its a Multiplayer, so the QA for this thing should be spot on......saying this I do realise that people will still find certain bugs with their individual play styles...

They said it was done a while ago, so I'm hoping it's had enough testing and such.

Bethesda games are notorious for bugs, to be fair they are enormous games. Most of it should be fixed with either official patches or if you're on PC, community made patches.

Gold doesn't mean anything these days, that's just a step in production. They've kept working and you know damn well there's going to be a day one patch, probably pretty sizable.

I watched the video again and he says an additional line for the "Vault-Tec?" option. Maybe it's like Mass Effect where the dialogue options are only a hint or tone of what the response will be?

It's pretty clear that's what it is(though with only 4 buttons, that's even worse than bioware's dialogue wheel). I prefer silent and actually choosing what the character says, personally.

I do not think that a heavily modded Skyrim/Fallout 3/New Vegas to Fallout 4 on PS4 comparison is fair because (most!) PCs are way more powerful than a PS4.
A heavily modded 2015 Skyrim can look beautiful, but you need a relatively 'good' PC to run it and for sure a PC that is more powerful than a modern console. So in the end you are comparing the 'possibility' of a PC with the 'possibility' of a console. And a PC will always win that for obvious reasons. We also do not compare Witcher 3 PS4 to Witcher 3 PC for this reason.

People were able to turn something like that:

into that:

And a skyrim that looks so beautiful runs like shit on many PCs and wouldn't be possible on a PS4. So why compare it to a 2015 PS4 game?

all of these heavily modded skyrim pics are so misleading

How the fuck is this thread so big? Ya'll care way too much about graphics.

We're not even really talking graphics at the moment.

Just read the info.
First of all, glad Bethesda Spain did a great job with the spanish voice acting this time (Skyrim had good voices but the voice direction was awful). I wonder who the main character voice is.

Second, a pity they havent fixed the writing, NPCs and quests. Going to sit down on this one, maybe in a year somebody makes "Interesting NPCs" for Fallout 4 just like the amazing Skyrim mod. Why they dont hire better writers and scenario directors with the huge amount of money they make just boggles my mind.

Sells well as-is most likely. No incentive.

Due to compression issues these two new shots don't look.....too good.

I found these on Reddit:

Bolded part, not at all what I was trying to say with that pic. Only to highlight that they have moved dialogue UI into BioWare land and you won't know what your character is going to say, word to word I mean.

Guess I misinterpreted it.

Was seeing the response that Fallout 4 dialogue is more basic than the Lucas Simms picture. The dialogue displayed is basic in comparison, but the dialogue itself seems the same as Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

Yeah, but the fact that you don't know exactly what your character is going to say sucks.

Potato quality but this image seems to show that XBone has the same lack of shadows as PS4:

I'm shocked.

I think this just confirms that game is seriously render distance restricted at least on consoles? And yeah, that is from XBO.

Edit: Does XBO even have direct capture mode like PS4's Share?

Hmmm...didn't that other reviewer say the NPC's were better this time around? He said he only had seen different faces, no copies like we had in previous game. I think he said they looked better too. I didn't read it like you did, but that is a shame about the writing and quests.Cause i read did about improved A.I. That sounds really nice.

Well damn...finally somethng from XBox ONe, but that is just crap. Ah well, if it's on par with those shots from Shinobi, i'm good.

Disappointed about that myself, but who knows... I might end up liking it more than I think I will. I've found myself in previous games wishing I didn't know exactly what was being said.

I imagine at some point [at least on PC] it will be possible for mods to change up the UI so that the full dialogue option is displayed.
