Fallout New Vegas |OT| Obsidian does what Bethesdon't

There was a difficulty spike in Helios? Compared to what? I didn't notice anything, that's for sure. The important thing to note is that everyone more or less plays the game in a different way and visits locations and tackles quests in very different orders. So there's almost always something which would seem unusually harder if you approach it at a given point in a game.

I did the mission right after visiting Novac (And doing the Ghoul mission), so the robots were indeed a difficulty spike for me. They take tons of damage and were able to cripple my head extremely fast. I'm not complaining though, a little bit of challenge is welcome.

Yeah, I had no issue with Helios either.

1. Reprogram turrets. Wait for turrets to clear room of robots.
2. Take pulse grenades/mines. I took out four security robots with a single pulse grenade.

So is there a way to load a game from several autosave poitns before or is there only the one?

I was doing the Helios activation and accidentally armed the Archimedes weapon, I disarmed it, but the NCR people outside all shoot at me now.
I thought about this on my way to work. I think when you activate the weapon, it kills some NCR outside roaming the grounds. That's probably why they aggro'd you.

You take Morales's body to the outpost near the bridge to the side of RENCONN (or however you spell it) headquarters. It's a slow walk so I suggest you do it in third person view. Looks like your character has telekinesis.

Should I use a high speech character for my first playthrough? They generally seem to be the best so I want the most balanced and enjoyable experience. Maybe Guns, Repair, and Speech?
Those are the 3 I tagged, with lockpick being the 4th with a perk. It's a pretty solid build and speech really helps out once you get some points into it. Repair is worth it for the jury rigging perk and having a decent guns skill always helps. By the time I completed the game, I had a maxed speech, 90 repair, 65 guns and maxed lockpick. All came in handy, and speech itself was a really great skill to have. So many extra dialogue options....

My tagged skills are Melee, Sneak, and Speech. It's going really well, and my 4th skill with the Tag! perk is Lockpicking as well. The extra 15 points into that helped me quite a bit.

Btw, is the ED-E My Love mission glitched? I've talked to Ignacio Rivas about Archimedes and there was no audio trigger :(

Anyone?

Just got this game for the 360 last night and holy shit is it good. As much as I loved fallout 3 so far I am enjoying the beginning of new vegas much more. Awesome stuff so far.

It is great, but so far Fallout 3 is the far more memorable game for me. Kind of similar to Dead Rising 1/2.

So no one got the Morales retrieve his body quest and know where to go when you drag him around? i`ll try fast travel while he is hooked on me but I doubt that will work hehe...I just left him at a place I will remember for now,I hope he doesn`t get eat up by something by then :lol

Follow the road down from where you found him and there are a couple of soldiers standing next to sandbags. Once you get close enough the trigger will kick in and you can dump him.

I kept travelling and doing quests and eventually it kicked in and worked. The fastest way to do it is go to
the third floor of the REPCON building and find the BoS soldiers.

Go see Mick and Ralph in freeside.

My ED-D quest is also bugged, I can never get the proper dialogue options to pop up.

There is another way to do it for free -
Become friends with the NCR, travel to their airport, then use the monorail to enter New Vegas. Now you can come and go for free.

Hmmm ok, guess I will let this idiot stick around a little more. (The robot is cool but the noises he makes get annoying over time!)

I was exploring the world with
Boone
and when I got to
Cottonwood Cove
he warned me that he would massacre everyone there. So I went along with it and killed the
higher ranked Legion members inside the buildings.

Hope I didn't mess up any future quests :lol

That's fine. Make sure you
loot the buildings properly, some stuff inside ties in to a later quest, and if you go to the trailer park above town you will find that there was an alternate way to kill everybody :D

The ED-E quest is a bit sensitive. The first time I cleared Helios One, I got nothing from the bot. But later I went back and talked to the guy again, asking the same questions about ARCHIMEDES and so on, and at the end of the conversation the second log unlocked. It's possible that ED-E was stuck in another part of the room and didn't "hear" the keywords it needed to. I would recommend trying again. Also, he needs to hear a certain number of keywords before something happens iirc, so there are several other ways of triggering the logs.

Wow. I just finished Veronica's companion quest. Errrr..... erm..... I'm really mad right now. The next time I turn the game on, the Brotherhood might not be around anymore if I can't control myself. :(

Well, I couldn't let it rest. I went ahead and did it. I don't feel much better, but they had it coming! :(

:lol duckroll, so emotional!

Is it just me, or are Energy Weapons really useless in this game? A Sniper Rifle equipped with AP rounds can make quick work of a Deathclaw or Super Mutant Master, but a Gauss Rifle has a lot more trouble with it.

Laser Rifle's like a gun that shoots bugbites, heck, even the Plasma Rifle ain't what she used to be. :(
Only chumps use standard weapons anyway. It's all about the unique, named ones. :D The
Alien Blaster (north of Horrowitz or whatever)
is probably one of the best weapons in the game. Oneshotting enemies like nobody's business, I feel like 2 Boones are wandering around the wasteland now!

Sounds like you're using the iFPSclamp=60 tweak? it makes the game go literally slower if your fps goes below 60.

That was the problem, thanks. Only problem now is with that at default now, there is more stuttering. =/

For fuck sakes.

I got rid of all my companions.

Still, everyone tries to kill me in The Fort.

I use a console command to raise my reputation with Caesars Legion. STILL everyone attacks me at the fort.

I sneak in and talk to Caesar. It just zooms in and out in half a second and everyone kills me.

What the fuck............................

Yeah, but I have the Mark of Caesar.

And I need to get the platinum chip.

And I don't think I'll be able to kill everyone and make it out.

And somehow, I feel, killing everyone at The Fort may fuck up a few quests here or there perhaps...

Afaik, there are two values, Good and Bad. When you do a good thing for a faction you get good rep and vice versa for bad things. Now heres where the key difference lies. When you do a bad thing, it doesnt subtract from your good rep but just adds it to you bad rep counter. Because of this, merely raising Good rep wont necessarily keep them from attacking as far as i can tell.

Hmmmm.

So I need to setreputation f43dd 1 100 and setreputation f43dd 0 0?

Maybe I'll just console command my self a mininuke launcher and some mininukes :lol

No way. I am using the Ballistic Fist and destroying everything I touch. Melee weapons are almost too good it seems like. Seriously, get some Chems, some Whiskey, a good pair of Armor and Cass along your side, you will demolish everything.

The
Pulse Gun
is similarly OP against bots/power armour users.

Right after I wiped out the Brotherhood, I fast traveled back to the Strip entrance. One of the usual random thugs tried to start shit with me and I gave him a faceful of my Super Sledge in VATS. His entire head pretty much exploded cleanly off his neck as he was rushing towards me. Totally gross? Totally awesome.

Melee weapons were busted all to hell in Fallout 3 too. If you picked up a shishkebab and had semi-decent armor you could literally run through an entire horde of super mutants with a couple stimpacks, rushing right at them across the open. It was glorious. 3-shotting brutes or taking down deathclaws in 5 swings...yeah, the fire-sword was broken as all hell.

Right now I'm only level 8 or 9, and my default weapon for the first 6 levels was a lead pipe which has just recently been upgraded to a fireaxe. My melee is just shy of 60, guns is at about 25. Melee is so awesome, I love it.

I live for these moments.

BTW tip for people that hate having an un-maxed skill like lockpick, you can get a +20 per skill magazine bonus with the comprehension perk. very handy, eg I like 30 science and 55 lockpick (then upgrade to 80 later on).

this applies to all skills. so you could use a speech or barter skill for +20, AND use chems also to really optimise things.

-edit of course these are temporary bonuses, but its usually all you need for the odd lockpick thats too high for you to open etc. the extra 1 point per regular permanent skillbook is also handy

Did not work.

Fuck.

Maybe it's cause the first time I went there I still had EDE in my party... and then I'm going back and they're already agressive?

I should just track down a good gun and clean the place out. Fuck it.

I was going to do a second legit playthrough as an evil guy, but
after seeing how all four main factions converge on incredibly similar endgames (after Alpha Protocol, shouldn't have been surprised)
, now I've just made a stealth/melee character whose simple goal is to kill every npc without being detected (ie. no reputations with anyone). No talking, no questing, though I'll advance the main story via item pickups. It hasn't been too difficult, and after playing a wimpy high speech guy, it's incredibly satisfying one-shotting everyone with a tap on their butt using my lead pipe. I'm going to try to see how far into the game I can get before it becomes utterly broken. Last night I
fully cleared out Primm and the NCR at Mojave Outpost talked like I'd given them the mandate to protect it, before I killed all of them too anyway. Cass is sitting alone drinking in the bar surrounded by dead troopers, in case I decide to pick her up later :lol

I hate hacking now.

I liked in FO3 you could just auto hit a bunch of names then re-enter. I mean who finds that kind of stuff fun? You already got skill levelled up to even attempt it.

At least its not as bad as Dead Space Ignition though :lol

Lol, 0/7 yet the E is in both words..... I haven't ran into any problems with that with the hacking minigame. I just try the ING ending words first and try to go from there. If I don't get it with the first 3 tries, exit and reload my save from right before I started the hack.

i thought placement of the letters mattered.

banned from one casino so far after about 20 minutes of trying (with 5 base luck and naughty nightwear +1 luck). I am absolutely swimming in caps now (almost 20k)

From the fallout wiki:

It is important to realize that a letter is correct only if it is in the right spot. For example, if the password is "RELEASED" and you choose "DETECTOR" then you will be told that there are 2/8 correct because there are 'E's in the 2nd and 4th place for both. The words have other letters in common, like 'R', but it is in the first spot in one word, and the last in the other.

Caps are way too easy to acquire, even if you ignore Caravan and the casinos. To date, I've bought the two most expensive
implants
, loads of ammo, weapons and mods, and I still have over 50,000 caps, simply because they hand out money like candy, and the weapon sell values are ridiculously high. Hell, I'm even Very Good, turning down offers of money and not stealing. Just too easy.

Maybe a spoiler

I speeched my way into vault 3
now all the fiends are friendly exploring the place I found the prisoners and eventually found a ranger. but what really is bugging me is I found a Fiend named Daniel. Is he special towards a quest or is it some glitched/typo name. Because i think i just want to clear that place out and finish the fiends for good but if this fiend is part of a quest or hidden/note quest I will hold off.

some of the leader fiends have names and bounties tied to them, don't remember one named Daniel ever being mentioned before though
