Fallout New Vegas |OT| Obsidian does what Bethesdon't

I had no idea. I have been hacking the wrong way since Fallout 3. I always thought if you got 3/7 that meant 3 of those letters were right, not just in the right spot. Oh man. No wonder I have had to do so many save/reloads when hacking. :lol

Here's another trick I found out way late into Fallout 3:

When you see closed brackets on the same line (Example: [nsnkndksk] or (),<>)
hit the first bracket, you'll see the entire thing highlighted. Clicking it will either delete a wrong word or refill one of your chances. There's normally a few of those hidden, so finding them will make hacking a whole lot easier.

Wow. Good thing to know, hacking is going to be a breeze now.

Another thing I will admit to, I didn't know about the pip-boy flashlight until about 25 hours into the game, when I finally read about it here on GAF. So many places I had to turn up the brightness on the game and my TV........

some of the leader fiends have names and bounties tied to them, don't remember one named Daniel ever being mentioned before though
If your talking about the
three fiends, then no I did those already, I just checked fallout wiki I guess Daniel is nobody he only has a key to a door to the fiend boss

Damn...I love this game...Me, Boone, Veronica, and Cass have just rained down death on the
Caeser
and his base. I love how the Gauss Rifle just blows people away, even if its a little inaccurate.

was it the Weathered 10mm Pistol?
Yup, hopefully there'll be a fix soon because it's the best pistol I have and 10mm ammo is so common.

Is it possible to find another Weathered 10mm in the game?

Unfortunately, I'm on a console, thanks anyway. At least the gun still fires, right now I just pull it out before going into V.A.T.S. and then stash it.

Yeah, a friend of mine showed that to me about a month ago. I felt stupid as hell.

I guess this have been discussed allready, but I don't want to look through the whole thread in case of spoilers, so I'll just ask here:

My copy doesn't work. I can't get past the intro movie, because the message "FalloutNV have stopped working" keeps poping up. I've updated all my drivers and I've re-installed the game twice.

Any solutions/words on a patch?

I do remember this happening to me once with Broken Steel(or was it The Pit, I don't remember), but they fixed it within a day.

It took me about 50 hours of Fallout 3 to finally figure out how to do the hacking mini game. Thankfully I still remembered it this time around, but for some reason I haven't seen nearly as many terminals in New Vegas. It doesn't seem as important this time, same with lock picking.

my favorite NPC dialogue so far was the random homeless lady who said "fuck it, I'm gonna eat the next rat I see" or something like that
speaking of that part, I'm on the Vegas Square quest where I'm looking for
Alice at The Gray and I got past the thugs into the room and I found the strange meat. Clearly she's been eaten but it hasn't progressed the quest so I'm still stuck on that part

what am I doing wrong?
I love this game but it's a tad sloppy at times

I've only found two snow globes so far, these things are so hard to find, been playing for 20 hours now :|.

I found one on the first character I made but then I restarted a couple times and now I don't remember where it was. =/

Nope. Running on a single monitor. 64-bit OS though, but Fallout 3 runs fine on it.
Do you have ffdshow audio/video codecs installed? (32bit or 64bit version), if so go and add Fallout New Vegas executable to the list of apps that don't use ffdshow, you can find it in the settings of ffdshow.

I do actually. Thanks for the tip...I'll try it out.

EDIT: Yes, I installed the DX version that came with the game.

When I signed up for this job, I thought there'd be more gambling.

Absolutely love this game. It's motivated me to try the other 3 Fallouts too. But it most certainly is a flawed game, and not just in the technical aspects. The redundancy of the dialog and voice acting illustrates that. From what I've heard, Fallout 3 had even less varied voices *shudders*

Oblivion had even less than that >_>

The only thing redundant with voice in New Vegas is the random dialog from generic NPCs.

Its much worse since there are only a handful of voice actors and actresses to voice everyone. In New Vegas, almost every named NPC sounds different. Thats not the case in Fallout 3.

Cripes..... Gonna take me forever to find them. :lol

They're very easy to spot and not hidden away. You should come across them during the game, unlike the bobble heads in F3. In NV I'd say that the bottle cap mission is more difficult as you have to scour every nook and cranny and check every loose cap, and then drink a whole load of new bottles in the hope of randomly getting the extras you need (the luck special trait helps with that massively).

Picking this up in a couple hours. Does the dart gun still make Deathclaws (or any enemy) easy mode? I put over 60 hours into 3 and remember using the shit out of it.

Damn throat infection. I've managed to play a good few hours today, and stopped to try RDR: Undead Nightmare which is also good but I'm too sick to play anything.

I've aquired
Boone
and
E-DE
.
Boone
is completely awesome, we both took down some fools with our sniper rifles, awesome team.

snow globes i've found later:

jacobtown - on the front counter after you enter

Lucky38 - on the round casino floor/or whatever it is - cocktail? Its hidden behind a cashier's machine on the counter

only 2 but I've found 5 so far. you give them to
House's fembot
for 2k cash each

game needed a inventory thing where you can look at the item you picked up. I wish I could have done a close up look of the snow globes. :/

Damn, this game feels like such an improvement over Fallout 3 in most areas. Except for one; the world design. I think the Fallout 3 game world was much more interesting. Too bad New Vegas had to be set in the Mojave desert. :p

Anyway, Boone kicks ass.

Am I pretty much screwed for
continuing any Legion quest lines if I try to pursue Boone's companion quest? I've long since been to the Strip, obtained the Mark of Caesar to wipe my Legion rep clean, and visited the Fort. From what I've read, the only way to gain access to Boone's quest is to have him as a companion when you complete various parts of other quests that may involve killing Legion members or otherwise causing trouble for them.
