Once again I've sacrificed my spare time to sit through horrible movies so you guys can avoid them. Luke perry, star of my last bad movie nights feature presentation- SUPERNOVA plays a super geophysisist or something in this film. ON the whole it's a better film then supernova for the following reasons- it's 96 minutes instead of 3 hours, the supporting cast can actually do a halfway decent read despite a terrible script, it has luitenent commander WORF /micheal dorn in it! The only thing super nova has that Descent doesn't is Peter fonda whose hilariously bad reads coupled with his overall drunken appearance really saved that film.
Anyway, the story here is almost exactly like the core, the only thing missing is a black guy on the ship going to the center of the earth. Well actually in this one they dont' go all the way down , just 25 miles down. Apparently some scientists dug a whole down to the mantle and somehow this is making the entire ring of fire gurgle with volcanic activity .. why ? well apparently the continents are slowly sinking into the mantle becuase of the hole that was made and this is causing magma plus sciense and flash gordon... basically what follows is a very low budget version of THE CORE. Everyone but luke perry and his love interest dies but they save the day and surface in the ocean making out in there life boat.
Despite having allready seen it my friend and I went for the double entry of awful by renting DOOM. He hadn't watched it but I had, he was wondering how they could screw up such an easy storyline and well, 90 odd minutes later he knew the answer.
