This shit should be pined.

Like I said before, I haven't seen the trailer yet.. just at work. But, I'm willing to bet, that there will be classical scenes/music in the game. They still are trying to target a younger audience? And classical music, for the most part is not going to entice the younger kids.

(to be fair, I'm not even sure who the audience for the game is - I just don't like the blanket anger at times on this board. This is a hardcore board, not every game is targeting us)

In the Destructoid preview, they heavily implied there wouldn't be any classical music. It's trying to modernize the concept of Fantasia by having modern contemporary music. You really need to watch the trailer before you play Chernabog's advocate.

Polygon article makes it sound sorta interesting. The trailer does not convey any of this though. But I can understand what they're going for now.

The 15 exclusives are Microsoft Studios published and ONLY on the Xbox One. This is neither.

Can a mod add this to the title and/or OP?

Ok I have seen the twitter post that shows this to be true.

I can admit when I'm wrong and then hide in the cupboard of shame

If you haven't watched the trailer yet then you can't really judge us for saying it looks like shit, concept-wise.

It's literally Fantasia in name only. It'll probably end up a really cool music game, Harmonix knows their shit. But this isn't Fantasia.

I rescind my earlier comment. After seeing the trailer there is no way I'm getting this game. I though it was classical music with Disney animation but it's just a Fantasia branded music game. No sale.

Yeah, I read your previous post. THAT is disappointing.

This kind of reminds me of nintendo slapping the name Mario on any type of game to make it sell something...

If that is the case, that is a wasted potentional to introduce classical music to children. Not enough culture being introduced and this would be a great, responsible fun way to do it. Kind of... sad.

What the fuck does Fantasia have to do with this at all?

Fantasia may have been about classical music, but people mostly remember it for Mickey conducting magic/music by waving around.

Harmonix took that concept, instead of that of classical music (which would be fine, I suppose, as long as there is a wide choice of different genres).
Anyway, a motion-based Fantasia game does make a lot of sense.

This is like if you made a movie about Eco terrorists saving the planet against evil industrialists all in cg and called it final fantasy

It's like two Disney executives had a vision for a kinect based music game and the crappy Disney channel exec got his way

Mostly going to be just motion detection/posing like Dance Central. You can't effectively 'point' at anything unless you know the exact relative position of the camera to the TV (Calibration yay). Basically, Dance Central with a Disney theme on top of it.

I don't know, the classical music stuck very heavily in my mind. Mickey waving his arms around was one part of the movie. I agree it does make sense though, just wish it was less Fun and more Mussorgsky.

Yeah, I agree. as I've stated in my previous post. I just assumed there would be some classical music in there. If not - wasted opportunity. It's not everyday you get a license and you can do something really cool and introduce something new to kids.

If no classical music - wasted opportunity. At the same time, game might be fun, but a waste of a license.

Not only could this be a Fantasia game, but this could be an opportunity to put classical music onto consoles as well as exposing it to younger children.

I can't even remember the last time I heard a substantial amount of classical music in a game, aside from Parodius :D

Oh, Saints Row's classical music station was awesome.

Yeah, but the purpose of the Fantasia movie WAS TO GET PEOPLE INTERESTED IN CLASSICAL MUSIC. That was the point of it being made in the first place.

There's nothing Classical about this at all. Honestly, even if there WAS Fantasia music in this (and there probably is, othewise, it would be REALLY stupid to call this a Fantasia game), most of the time, people wont even be playing those tracks, they'll probably be playing whatever pop song floats their boat.

I think I would have preferred this as a straight Disney music game.

So Dance Central - No Feet edition? Guess I'll have to wait for all the John Drake videos to understand this a bit better.

The idea behind the game is great, and it's pretty much exactly how a Fantasia game should go down.

But good lord, the soundtrack couldn't be more toxic if they dumped radioactive waste on it.

Who wants to bet that the classical pieces will be DLC?

Hopefully not paid DLC... I get that programmers have to do work and get paid, but only in the video games industry would they think people dumb enough to pay for public domain music.

So gaf community are u excited for this xboxone exclusive? I love the casual games but this is not a system seller for me. E3 will help me justify my purchase hopefully

What does it nail? People are more dissatisfied at the lumping in of the Fantasia brand than anything. Why not just call it Music Evolved or something?

Where in the text of Disney Fantasia does it says "Has to be interpreted as a dark game for hardcore male gamers otherwise can not be associated with the movie"

As someone said: The movie is with classical music that is created by Mickey waving his hand around.

So taking the same concept with modern music is not "Misusing the brand" - it is.....wait for it......Evolving the concept.......aka Music Evolved.

Yep, that's exactly our industry. Shove a couple Fantasia visuals for those songs and done, collect the rent.

I would need a Kinect sports style game in my case.

But for families this would appeal no doubt.

I can see this playing very well on those Kinect demo units they have in stores.
