FAST Racing NEO (Wii U) out on Dec 10th in NA and EU for €14.99 / $14.99 / £10.99

I'm so looking forward to this game! :)

If this is even half as good as it looks, Nintendo needs to get behind this developer big time (ensure resources and QA) and let them make the next F-Zero.

I would like to say that it actually plays well, unlike the original on wii. In a couple of days many impressions will be share

I also admit that I can not play the fastest modes XD

Excellent. I mean I can tell the controls look tight but not having played it, I still can't get an accutate sense how it feels. I was hoping it felt different than the first one. I thought that one was just ok.

That would only be true if the person in the lead was already dominating anyway and at that point it really makes no difference. In a close race the leader would still need to be just as mindful of their shield as everyone else.

But anyway, this is all just hypothetical, the proof is in the pudding and that pudding is F-Zero. I honestly have not really played much F-Zero, so I can't comment, but if what you're saying is true it should be evident in F-Zero. Anyone with more F-Zero experience care to chime in?

Sorry, I worded that pretty poorly. I meant that having a requirement of winning first place offers an incentive to take advantage of the dynamic of balancing the boost/shield meter. In multiplayer, this wouldn't work well because if placing first is a requirement, anyone who's not first would lose. Yes, the incentive is still there, but it's no fun in you lose even though you actually placed 2nd or 3rd.

F-zero's multiplayer doesn't have this requirement either, so if it did, the logic would still apply.

Nintendoeverything made a sample compilation of the tracks from 3 cups:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-gs8EnBiMg

These tracks look INCREDIBLE! This seems like a full blown retail release.

It's probably an unfair comparison but Shin'en makes Renegade Kid look bad. This is the same price as what is little more than a polishing of a DS game (Dementium), and their 3D games look poor and are among the most expensive games on the eShop (Moon Chronicles, ATV Wild Ride 3D -- both of which are also remastered DS games -- and Face Racers: Photo Finish).

Both are good developers to have on your side, but Shin'en really is in a different league.

Wow I thought only Nintendo could make could make amazing looking Wii U games. This games looks like something out of Nintendo. If told me this was on the NX, I would believe it. Some of those tracks look pretty challenging too. The rain track looks bonkers. I'm so going to get this.

I did not sell my WiiU in the past because of this game.

No regrets at all, it looks stunning and exactly what I was looking for, I love it so much.

I really don't get these "Shin'en got not SOUL" comments anymore..

That may have been true for their earlier efforts, but everything I have seen from this game screams high quality and great art style to me..

I don't think that was true for their earlier games either. The stuff I played from them on GBA, NDS and Wii was good and clearly had a lot of love put into it. It's just that technical skill and a lot of a love aren't always enough to make an outstanding game, rather than just a good one. And it also doesn't help that at the end of the day the average consumer doesn't decide to buy a game based on the size of the team that developed it, or the individual talents of the team members.

But their games sold pretty well. And I'm sure FRN will do too.

As they should have, that's a testament to how good Shinen' are.

edit: meant to add: But there's a limit to what's humanly possible for such a small number of people, and some gamers may raise their expectations too high and end up disappointed.

I wonder if Nintendo ever tried to buy them, or whatever. I mean, they already work almost exclusively for Nintendo platforms and their games seem to sell rather well, might as well secure that.

Game looks good, will probably buy it once it hits €10 as most of their games do. Not much into futuristic racers but it should be fun to play for a bit every now and then.

Controls look tighter than the original game no doubt, but still possibly a bit floatier than F-Zero. Regardless I'm in day 1.

This is entirely tangential, but:

If I have a USB drive in my system (where my Xenoblade data packs are) how can I make sure that when I download this game and create a save file that it goes to the HDD and not the USB drive? Is removing the USB drive the only way?

Jett Rocket is generic as fuck. Competent but void of personality. Their games are always slick, they just don't have much character. Good thing this is a hardcore racer and doesn't need it.

I don't care if Nintendo buys them or not. I just hope Nintendo helps them with anything they want even throwing some money at them to help create some awesome games. Keep them happy in the Nintendo camp. These guys do some damn good work.

Gotta agree with this. It is devoid of personality unfortunately. This game hides it but you can see see it has little personality. If they could really get some charm then their games would be fucking beautiful.

You can't.
You could copy the game and save to the internal memory then delete the game and leave the save. Then check if it recognizes the save. For updates it doesn't work, but haven't tried DLC or saves.

The game's 592MB anyway. :p

Wii U supports LAN via these:

That's how my console is connected to the internet.

What do you mean, Rich!?
Can you connect 2 Wii U's to each other via an ethernet cable? This is blowing my mind!

I always had more fun with Renegade Kid's games than Shin'en's. We'll see.

Have you played their games? I'll most probably buy FAST Wii U unless people are massively disappointed, but I have this exact opinion on Shin'en after having played their games.

I think it works like this:
The Wii U will use the save file where ever it's found. But if the game is started with the USB drive connected the very first time, the storage will be on the USB by default.

But if it ends up on the wrong drive, you can always move the storage later with the system tools.

I think Renegade Kid is a bit too minimalistic(they use the same artstyle for games) but it's a tie for me.

Mutant Mudds is one of my favorite games so that would be their flagship game for me.

I only own Nano Assault Neo from Shinen and I like it a lot but it doesn't beat Mudds.

However, this new game seems excellent and will push it to a tie for me.

Both are very promising developers and I hope they continue to make Nintendo games for years to come.

Looks somewhere between F-Zero and WipEout, which is cool. As long as it has an "identity" if that makes sense. The first game didn't really have a distinct feel.

Fucking hyped for this game though. I thought it was coming out tomorrow and am now disappointed...

The first game was ok but it seemed like an average(though technically impressive) indie game.

Not shovelware but not something that you really took notice of.

This game, fuck, I wouldn't laugh even if someone told me it was made by a large major studio.

The gameplay looks different than the last one and I am glad it's not FAST Racing League but just prettier(the switching mechanics and orb mechanic is a big improvement as well).

I know, I just would rather have it on the hard drive. It's weird that you can't specify. The easy fix is popping out the USB I suppose. Thanks for the info.

Thanks, I'll try this.

That's why I wrote "earlier efforts".

I have played Nano Assault Neo and Art of Balance. So that's comparatively new output from them..

Both games seemed to have the right amount of style for me.

If Nano Assault Neo doesn't have it's own style, ResoGun doesn't have as well, imo.
