I'll just stick to the Advanced level for now. Don't really have the materials to ascend anyone else so I don't need more exp cards that badly, and leveling up too fast will mean level-up AP refills will get further apart when I might want them. Hopefully I won't fall too far behind.

Jeanne was one of the longest highest rated Servant in the game. I think she was 9.0 to 10.0 for like a full year because she simply didn't die and did good damage. I think the point others were making is that you have a good unit but not one that is damage oriented is all.

Yeah. This is what I was trying to say. I honestly don't use Jeanne that much even as a friend unit so maybe she has some hidden build potential I'm unaware of that makes her a powerhouse, but certainly in these early days when Berserker-stomping through content is such a viable strategy Jeanne feels like she has limited damage-dealing use in comparison to more specialised characters.

In the context of daily ember quests where you can be aware of the most prominent classes in advance, i've found it's better to fill up on direct counters to enemy classes and use Berserkers to fill.

The way that enemy noble phantasms work also reinforce this strategy since they do quite a significant amount of damage and there's less evasion skills around this early.

I'm using supports, just not the highest level ones available. Guess I'll switch to that.

These two statements seem contradictory.

Not really. Jeanne keeps herself and her team alive, and wears down the enemy. For Lvl 40 quests, I usually pick Jeanne/Waver, since I have Altera for DPS. In your case, pick the DPS most suited for the quest. Its slow going, not like with 3 berzerker where you spam busters, you can take 12+ turns to clear the quest, but you will succeed.

Sounds like you prefer more aggressive teamcomps where Jean is less suitable though.

Also don't forget your Master spells. Life got much easier when I figured out how to use them. The damage buff in particular is really good when you really need to kill someone in one turn.

These two statements seem contradictory.

She'll never deal top theoretical dmg cause she's not part of the main class weak/strong wheel so someone else the same lvl focusing down a weakness would hit harder, but since she can poke anything for neutral or better dmg and she resists most of the mobs you will run into in a daily, she ends up winning a lot of the time by having better endurance where most other units would have died. The only time she will realistically have any trouble is if she's solo vs a handful of Berserkers or something. She literally carries what would otherwise be mediocre teams with no real chance.

She isn't really an 'efficient" choice though imo, she's the "safe" choice to be sure you actually clear the 40 AP dailies. Efficient would be an NP charge machine like Waver + NP craft essences + a couple Berserkers (an AoE one for the waves + a single target one for the bosses I guess), but that's also a much riskier playstyle if you don't have everything you need set up + know what you're doing. And since a lot of people don't have those setups, Jeanne is popular.

I guess I'm reluctant to accept the fact that the game is designed around getting friends who have better luck than you powerful characters and using them as a necessary crutch to clear higher-level content.
It feels like cheating.

As long as you rerolled for 5* is it really that much of problem ? Everyone brings powerful ally to the table for others to use.

I lucked out on a lot of strong units and I prefer this system, I could easily have been unlucky and the amount of indirect cooperation from others in this game is a welcome change from just plan ol desperation. Especially since I can use about half of the good characters I've rolled at any one time anyway. Makes me feel helpful if people get good use out of them.

Yeah, exactly this. I love the system too.

While you always want to personally pull your favorite characters so they can be in your own roster, the beauty about F/GO is that, if you don't manage to have luck in that area, you can still join up with your friends and bring their character into your party to help you. On the reverse, if you manage to pull the character while they didn't, you help them. I'd much rather it this way than needing to have the character as your own, especially in a game with as many Servants as there are (with limited-time ones being added into the mix), even moreso when factor in the lower rate of chance to get them.

Basically, using the Friend List isn't "abusing" the game, it's making use of one of its features. It's meant to be helpful for this very reason, otherwise people wouldn't need to befriend each other. If anyone needs to bring in a powerful friend to make a certain quest easier and/or faster, all the more reason to do it!

I don't have anything else to contribute at this time. I'll leave so people don't have to keep dealing with me complaining about things.

Man I just can't farm the dailies, I keep getting wiped out, I think I'm gonna continue the story and try again later.

Also, learning with manga...wat

No worries man, you're absolutely entitled to air your frustrations or whatever it is that bothers you about the game. 'tis a free world.

If you want to leave that's entirely fine, but don't let the reason be simply because people might not share your same viewpoint. I'd much rather see the player-base (and thus, thread activity) continue to grow and not lessen, but if F/GO isn't your type of thing that can't really be helped.

Yeah, the dailies can be rough in that, when you need them most (not currently over-powered) they can be pretty difficult, but then when they're easily-farmed you're beyond the point of really needing them (although leveling more Servants will always be a thing). It's kind of the first hurdle the game throws at you.

What I'd recommend is building the best team you can, that favors one type over another. Try farming the daily in which you're strongest against, and bringing a powerful ally/friend. Once you get a few of your characters up in-level it gets a lot easier.

I'm fine with using strong friend units, but I'm not really a fan of only having 2 of my own units in the starting line up.

Most of these types of games, you'll have 4+ of your own units and a friend in the fight. The build/strategy/synergy part of this game seems like it'll be really limited.

Which I guess fits with what everyone always said, that this game is for the story.

On the preparation page, hit the button on the bottom that says 'Line Up'

Now drag the Support slot to the back row.

Ta dah.

And in most of those games you're fighting more than a maximum of three enemies at a time, so allowing a team of 4+ against an enemy team of 3 would be kind of silly.

Yeah I can safely say that the importance of your support can definitely impact your game. This game places your two characters with the support friend as the default. Most other gacha games only implement the friend support as something ADDITIONAL but not in any regards of IMPORTANCE. This game however places the 2 categories as equals. Your friend support isn't being used as a BACKUP resource but as an actual member of the main party. Most gacha games have made it a point to express "invite/summon/add" to HELP as a secondary unit, not to be a mainstay.

Two more pieces for my Waver! Consumed a golden apple to farm the daily quest, got 7 pieces so far. Been using Kenai's Vlad, if you see a boost of your friend points, pretty sure it was from me lol.

The reason the firendslist support system works so well is because once you use a support unit you aren't locked out from using that unit again for an unreasonable amount of time. There seems to be some lockout after consecutive uses but it's not the 6, 8, or 24 hour lockout after a single use like the systems from other games.

I mean you can still build/strategise when using a Friend unit. If anything it kind of makes up for the abysmally poor 5* servant drop rate in that if you're missing a important unit you can just add someone and use theirs. I for example don't have Waver so I often pick that from support to round out my team.

In that respect it almost gives you more options for team building really.

... Welp, I threw a summon ticket I got from the weekly daily streak and WAIT I GOT WAVER WTF.

Seriously not expected, but considering how awesome he is, I won't take it for granted, especially since he's my first *5.

#YOLO draws FTW

I got Lancelot today

And yesterday I wasted 30 quartz and got only 4* essence so I took Emiya from my ticket instead of Hercules :)

Only class left without 4* is Caster but 3* Cu is doing good enough for now.

Jason Kidd murdered my dog in cold blood!
I think there is an issue when I get more zerker piece than caster in daily....

edit: 5 Marie in a row!

You're telling me. I had so many riders. SO MANY. Getting my last caster piece took me way too many AP.

Well, got enough Berserker pieces for my second Hercules ascension but a 4.5% drop rate on the other thing I need (octuplet crystals) seems a bit miserable. Hopefully a future event will drop more since I'm not sure how much patience I'll have for farming this out, lol.

I kept getting the "your most popular summon is Berserker!" msg lol

Not even bothering farming the non-daily materials. Events and such will give me those. Instead I'm just farming pieces and monuments since those are guaranteed from the daily. Plus if I have too many pieces I can use them on my 3* and 2* units and make them look cooler.

Man I just can't farm the dailies, I keep getting wiped out, I think I'm gonna continue the story and try again later.

That shouldn't be happening. Get your team to max level and then make one ascesion using lower tier missions and you should be able to farm - remember you can lvl 60-70 5* allies from other people.

Proof of Hero farming is shite. I want to ascend my Emiya damnit.

Maybe I just got really lucky, but I got 3 within 2 runs in Marseille

I don't think Eternal Gears are available in the game yet, though, so my Emiya is stuck at level 60.

Gives me enough time to grind these dragon fangs for Artoria.

So a whole day of farming daily, got 5 caster piece and 15 riders. Caster boss only appeared 3 times. Two times drop a exp card. Caster trash drops 2* exp card or void dust.

Meanwhile, other ascension I want to do is blocked by that snake eye thing and twin crystal. Apparently the Friday monster hunt daily is so bad that it has like a <5% drop rate. wtf?

Edit: Anyone using Android and found the performance is horrible? The game is choppy, loading screen takes a long time and battery die quickly. On iPhone battery last a bit longer and everything is butter smooth.

Kinda running out of things to do for now.

I have a level 70 waver, level 50 herc, level 50 NP2 camilla, as my 4 and 5 stars. I am master level 75 with 150MM QP banked. I did 2 10x pulls for gil (all free quartz) and sadly didn't get him. I could get enough free for 1 more 10 pull easy but I am not sure if I want to do that or not. I guess ill keep leveling up for now.

This is my first gacha game and its so easy to see how people get sucked into spending huge money, but I am not going to spend any money on this until the guaranteed SSR rolls.

Is Fate/Zero on netflix a good place to start for getting more into the story?

Also my ID is 657,570,236 is anyone is interested.

How far are you in the story? I'm going through Septem and they drop fairly regularly from the story missions for me.
Stopped at Orleans to farm a bit more, but if that's the case I'll carry on with the story!

Yeah it's just completely random. Ah well, I ended up with other pieces I needed so it wasn't a complete write off.

Yeah, you should definitely watch that followed by Unlimited Blade Works.

I kind of miss having my massive AP stockpile. I guess for awhile I'm just going to be logging in twice a day to burn through any recharged AP and get the login bonuses / free FP 10 pull.

At least you're able to get a guaranteed 4 free quartz a week, hopefully I'll be able to stockpile a good chunk by the time another featured summon with a servant I want appears.

Ah, I also keep forgetting to post my ID. I go by a different name in-game than I do on here. but my ID is 543,994,292 if anyone wants to add me.

Don't worry if it says my friends list is full. I'll delete some randoms to make space for any GAF users that want in.

Here's my current support setup:

Lu Bu's at NP5 and has the +40% NP damage craft essence on him so he can hit for some pretty ridiculous numbers if you can get there.

Aside from that, Emiya's been my main focus for all my levelling and Fou cards. I'll get around to boosting Gilgamesh up to at least 60 once archer pieces are available again.

God damn it game. I need one f*cking Caster piece to finish Ascending Jeanne to 70 and I have a mountain of Assassin pieces I may never use and a molehill of Rider/Berserker pieces which I am kinda ok with but one of those could have been a Caster piece and you f*cking know it. It's been half a f*cking day

Edit: Complaining on GAF works! <3 <3 <3
