Favorite CastleVania Music

Mine would have to be Bloody Tears, Moonlight Nocturne, and the Title Screen song from Simon's Quest (still scares me just as much as the music from the NES friday the 13th). The BT from the end of Aria is sweet, but nothing gives more chills than the one in Simon's Quest. Also, wtf wasn't there a version of bloody tears in SotN?

The Prayer and similar piece in Circle of the Moon are also really pleasant.

I think its the music from in or around the Arena in SotN. Can't think of its name (or if that's the right area) but I believe it rocks thoroughly.

Bloody Tears and Vampire Killer. I wish they could bring back Bloody Tears in its full form in one of the new Castlevania games. Aria of Sorrow's end music doesn't count

I wish I could remember the name of it, but my favorite song is one that was in CV3 and later redone in CV4. In CV4 it was used during the clock tower level (level 10 iirc).

A lot of people didn't like I Am the Wing in SotN because it didn't fit. It's true, but I love that song. I need to beef up my CastleVania colletion in itunes. Yeah, Eggo, the mixes are up there with the Megaman mixes.

the whole damn SotN CD is amazing.

I also liked the stuff that was in Lament, and I enjoyed all the music from the GBAsp versions.

Bloodlines
Vampire Killer - Castelvania IV
Dracula's Castle - SOTN
House of Sacred Remains - LoI
Anti-Mysterious Labs - LoI

Actually the entire LoI soundtrack is one of my favorites.

Simon's Quest: Title music, town music, dungeon music.

SotN: That area with the red Blood Skeletons had cool music.

Prayer in Circle of the Moon (assuming it's the title screen song you're talking about) is ripped straight out of Dracula X - Circle of Blood (Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo).

Anyway, some of my favorites include

Wicked Child - Castlevania
Lost Painting, Wandering Ghosts, Dance of Pales, Wood Carving Partita - SOTN
Reincarnated Souls, Iron-Blue Intention, Requiem for the Nameless Victims - Castlevania Bloodlines
...and many songs from Circle of Blood (including the new versions of older songs, like Vampire Killer and Bloody Tears).

Castlevania 1: vampire killer
Castlevania 2: bloody tears
Circle of the moon: catacombs
AoS: Clocktower

Many any songs I don't know the name of.

Castlevania music basicly rocks!

SOTN - The Library

Close second would be the up-tempo track played in either the Coliseum or Reverse Coliseum, can't remember.

Edit: Shit, I want to replay Sotn so bad right now, it's been at least 2 years. If only I wasn't so into GTA:SA at the moment.

This one song in SC4 that's not in the game, but can be listened to in the sound test. It's kind of gypsy-like, and lies among the tunes for the last couple of bosses in the game. Next to the "Death"-song. Nobody else EVER knows what I'm talking about when I bring it up.

Also, the full version of the song that plays when you ascend the final stairs before Dracula in the same game. It also plays during his first phase.

Bah... the Lament of Innocence OST gets no love:

- House of Sacred Remains
- Lament of Innocence (Leon's Theme)
- Garden Forgotten By Time
- Fog-Enshrouded Landscape

SCV IV by far had the best soundtrack. I don't know the names of the songs, but there is a remix of a CV II song in there that I liked a lot. It was the daytime woods theme. It showed up remixed in the clock stage of IV. Much better than the original!

As soundtracks go, I'd rank them like this:

Super IV >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lament of Innocence >> Symphony of the Night >> II > Castlevania > III >> Bloodlines

Leaving the portables out of this. And I've only played the SNES version of Rondo, so I'll leave that out of this.

Bloodlines - Requiem for the Nameless Victims
Adventure II - Ripe Seeds
IV - Theme of Simon
Circle of the Moon - Rude Awakening

The second Game Boy Castlevania had quite a few good tracks.

That's "Wandering Ghosts"! My favorite track in the SOTN soundtrack! And it's the first, not the reverse.

cool to hear some love for the Simon's Quest intro tune and Friday the 13th even!
:)

I was always partial to Simon's Quest 'mansion' tune, and the tune that plays when you go into the ruins of Castlevania at the very end.

An ofcourse, just about the whole Super CV IV soundtrack, and SotN. Lament has some classics as well, already mentioned.

Sinking Old Sanctuary (from Bloodlines and CotM) is another fave of mine.

And I really love 'Inner Quarters' and 'Arena' from AoS.

Bring in CV DS!!

Bloodlines: Calling from Heaven
Damn, forgot about this song too. Bloodlines had a great soundtrack, it's a shame it often seems to be neglected by many.

And I encourage everyone to somehow find the soundtrack for Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo, if you haven't heard it already. The soundtrack has great interpretations of some the most famous Castlevania songs along with other great songs, and still holds up excellent from a technical point of view (since it's redbook audio). Actually, it's probably my favorite Castlevania soundtrack.

I really liked the music in Lament of Innocence, but it lacked any strong melodies. It was dominated by (damn good) atmospheric music, which made it forgettable.

Personally I thought the Bloodlines soundtrack was horrible considering it was a Castlevania game. Castlevania games always took it up a notch when it came to music. Sadly, Konami didn't seem to hold the same standard when it came to hiring a composer for Bloodlines.

The 2nd level song was pretty good though.

I thought it had a good number of memorable songs. Genesis hardware held the songs back though. Listening to arranged Bloodlines songs only makes this more apparent IMO.

probably the versions of bloody tears and vampire killer in rondo of blood. and some random cv IV and sotn tunes i don't know the names of.

edit: michiru yamane did the bloodlines soundtrack, iirc. hardly a substandard composer!

Aria of Sorrow had a really good soundtrack, my favorite of the series...too bad the GBA couldn't do the music justice.

For the original Gameboy, Castlevania 2 : Belmont's Revenge had some sweet SWEET music.

I owned that game. Don't remember the music though.

The castlevania with the worst music ever is probably HoD.

Pop it in and listen to it! It's not exactly the best quality, but I was just thinking earlier today how they should remix the music for a new Castlevania.

As far as favorite songs that appear in one of the games go, that'd be Crystal Drops from SoTN. If you are including arrange tracks, then Bloody Tears from Dracula Battle Perfect. That's also be my favorite CV related soundtrack.
