She went from standing alongside and sending a message of empowerment to people who were and/or felt different to nixing what was an opportunist gimmick in exchange for sequin dresses to croon next to Bennett and to show up to Oscars, Golden Globes...whatever.

She is a phony. No other way to look at it. She'll wear whatever hat she needs to advance whatever agenda she is on.

Having been a fan for as long as I have, I can tell you that she's never changed her message. She has supported LGBT rights since the beginning of her career and still does. She's supported mental health charities her whole career. She has alluded to having had unfortunate sexual experiences at the start of her career in interviews over the years. That unfortunate experience turned out to be rape and she wrote a song about it with Diane Warren, which got her nominated for an Oscar. THAT is why she was there this year. She made a Jazz record with Tony because that's the kind of music she originally studied and they have been friends for a few years. He asked her to make the album, not the other way around, mind you.
I urge you to watch this interview. It shows a totally different side of her that you might not have seen yet.
I find it hard to hear people talk about her like this, because even though it might sound corny af, she has helped a lot of people through her music. Born This Way showed a lot of young people that it is okay to be different and that it is okay to chase after your dreams. And some of us still couldn't pull through. I honestly don't think I'd be in as happy of a place as I am now without that record.

special needs, sexual needs
Outside of Bad Romance and the other popular ones I really enjoy Bloody Mary, Electric Chapel and Black Jesus + Amen Fashion.

ARTPOP had Mary Jane, Sex Dreams which are my favs from there. Her live renditions of Artpop are great especially at Swinefest for the iTunes Fesitval in 2013

Quality isn't the best but

GAF's Bob Woodward
This is harder than I initially thought!

I think I'll go with Monster. Or Dance in the Dark.

I love the 30 seconds or so from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP2srT6hh2Y&t=160

The Monster Ball tour will always be special for me. I was having a really rough time around then, but I managed to get myself out to her Dublin gig. It thundered through me and just lifted me.

Honestly I'd probably say Just Dance. It's so weird looking back on Gaga's career, it's like pre-Fame Monster and post-Fame Monster are two different people.

On sound cloud there is a remastered version of her live performance of ARTPOP and it's honestly better than the studio version.

You and me both sis lol!

Wish I went to the monster ball... Wasn't able to. In fact I've never been to any of her tours! As much as I love her I have no one else to go with so I didnt want to go on my own lol. I envy you ;)

Electric Chapel for me, also Alejandro, Bad Romance, her almost entire full album.

Electric Chapel >>>>

Pretty much all her albums, I agree!

Applause is pretty terrific. All of the singles I've heard are pretty listenable, but when Applause comes on I almost want to vogue.

Just dance has a special place in my heart, when thought a bad spot in life and my escape from all the pressure was getting drunk and dance every weekend. Right when the song was out.

Other than that Bad Romance and edge of glory.

I just tried to pin it down and realized how many of her songs I like. I really enjoy all of the obvious ones like Poker Face and Bad Romance, but songs like Dance in the Dark, Bloody Mary, Sexxx Dreams, Heavy Metal Lover, Marry the Night, and Venus are so good too. And I absolutely love her live piano versions of everything. Except Hair and Dope and a couple of others. Each of her albums has no more than 2 or 3 dud tracks IMO. She's damn consistent.

Love Lady Gaga. Still my favorite pop artist by a considerable margin. Her voice, image, and activism are so on point.

Try harder.

Her job is to sing and perform. Her being empowering to her fans had nothing to do with her screaming "you were born this way" every day on Twitter. People connected to her fearlessness and autonomy, not the heavy-handed talking points. The deliberate messaging, along with her album, were just a way for her to vocalize it at a time when it mattered politically. And that was great and all, but her job is still to be an entertainer. Not sure why she's phony just coz she stopped hammering in those talking points, especially now that the fight she was pushing for has in large part been won.

That being said, she's just as much an activist now as she always was. She just hasn't inserted it into her music, which funny enough is even less opportunistic than you thought she was being before. :p

There's just something addicting about Telephone, so probably that one. Bad Romance is pretty close, though.

With the amount of Gaga love here we could have a Gaga exclusive OT! 😍

Yes, you did wander into a PopGAF thread and you're loving it... Don't lie

Papparazzi and Bad Romance for me. I do like the chorus of Judas a lot, but the intro reduces my enjoyment of it.

Love Game was #1 for me. The Fame was such a great album that she never topped

Most people seem to be content with 'The Fame'

But for me personally, her peak was Born This Way. Every song on that album is amazing and has aged beautifully, it still sounds current and gets better in time.

Like fine wine

I love every song on The Fame Monster, but Bad Romance is probably my favorite. Personally it's the only album of hers that I feel doesn't have any filler (imo), just 8 great songs.

I do think Black Jesus, Electric Chapel and The Queen are hella underrated and deserve more love.

Also, the first verse of Venus is probably the most ferocious and epic 30 seconds she ever recorded. I stand by this.
