FBI reviewing emails found on devices used by Weiner/Abedin

Are you okay, Amir0x? These are some incredibly worrisome and unstable sentiments.
To want an incompetent buffoons career to be over next to the burning corpse of Trumps campaign?

Sorry you are afraid of inflammatory rhetoric, but Comey is a moron and we will destroy his career. I have complete mastery of the language i am using. You can sleep easy.

Only a few months left until it is over for him. Then he can work at Arbys

And if he robbed a bank, then he'd be put in jail too. What does that possibly have anything to do with what Comey did?

Comey's whole deal was transparency. He stepped over all kinds of lines, in what he said was due to major public interest in an effort to be clear with the public. In that press conference, he criticized Clinton, he took the case completely out of the hands of the Justice Department, he gave a detailed description of how he came to his conclusion, etc. So the door is already open. If he knows something -- ESPECIALLY since he informed Congress that the investigation was completed -- and it turns out that it's significant, and it leaks....well, there goes that transparency. He would be accused of playing favorites: being transparent for one side, but staying mum for another. Which is why I see why he sent the letter. "We found more emails and they might be related."

It would have been great for him to give a more detailed account of what they found in the laptop (that it's about Abedin and that it's regarding the Weiner investigation), but I'm just assuming that he can't. He was just as vague in his memo to the FBI employees about the investigation, so that suggests to me that he can't be as detailed as everyone wants him to be.

It's not that I'm afraid of inflammatory rhetoric. It's just the sort of thing that I usually hear from militias and NRA supporters.

democrats should start a campaign against comey and make this a partisan issue. this being a republican fbi director interfering with an election sounds better than this just being about hillary and emails.

They absolutely need to go after him. Trying to play nice and bipartisan has only gotten us insane levels of obstruction from the GOP. What Comey did was wildly irresponsible. He was strongly recommended by the DoJ not to send such a letter yet he did it anyways because he wanted to please the GOP. Democrats need to go after him and he needs to resign.

BS. The concept of transparency is to tell people about pertinent details as they come up. There are no pertinent details yet because the investigation has barely started. What Comey is doing is insinuating things that don't exist yet at this time. It's deceptive, it's manipulative, and it's nothing like what you're describing.

Oh you are not used to a liberal being unafraid of wishing a persons career destroyed? Well now you have. I hope Comey can never hold a government position again and he is forced to watch wide eyed as his monster Trump loses mercilessly. Dont have to feign concern over stability anymore :)

He told Congress the investigation had concluded. It's not. And if they find out that they're working with a new batch of emails and are trying to determine whether or not they're classified, then they will haul his ass right before Congress and try to impeach him.

It's easy to say what he should or shouldn't have done when you're not the one who's gonna get grilled before Congress about hiding information.

Also BS. Investigations don't completely close, and there's nothing wrong with waiting until there's something juicy to report before informing Congress that there was an update. Yesterday, Comey was playing the boy who called wolf, and I don't know what it says for anyone who thinks that that's part of his job.

Read the letter he sent. Read the quotes from reporters talking to FBI agents. Everyone, including the Justice dept, was against him making a statement to Congress except for the fucking Trump campaign. It does not get any more transparently political than this.

This is old news but yeah his career is over. Hope he really enjoys his last few months being relevant.

I agree that he was in a difficult and unique situation, but one of the reasons we have rules and protocols is to normalize and control difficult and unique situations. Instead of sticking with protocol and having his actions exist under the protective umbrella of the institution, Comey has forged out on his own. For better or for worse, he owns this now.

All there is to it. He didn't follow protocol.

It's also easy to handwave Comey's continuing to shit on protocol.

It's more than just that. Not following protocol isn't necessarily a big deal if there isn't much fallout from it. Comey's action interfered with a Presidential election. That's so high on the list of no-nos the FBI has to operate under that it's bewildering that anyone thought this would be a good idea.

Yep. At best he was trying to save his own ass and decided to do something idiotic preemptively. If he had any idea what they had even found than it would still be awkward but it wold have been better to just get it out there.

Not only that but now the department is going through shit because they are going to be under spotlight and pressure of doing this quickly or having their work impact a presidential election.

I'm sure he didn't intend to violate protocol.

So 51 pages later has anything come out yet?

Nope because Comey and the FBI had barely looked at any of this before he sent that letter. And of course he has no idea how long it will take to review all of it leaving everyone in the dark until potentially after the election.

This shit is so democrats being democrats that I can't believe it. Why the fuck would you give the FBI to this republican asshole? This might be the first time when the thanks Obama meme actually has a point. The worse thing is that Hillary's guaranteed to turn around and start dealing with these fucks as soon as she's elected. I'm voting for Hillary, but it pains me that we're going to have four more years of a blue dog democrat dip shit bending over backwards to appease republicans that are obviously going to stab her in the back. Rant over.

Do you know how much the Republicans were chomping at the bit to indict Hillary? Did you know that Comey has already been accused of helping Clinton because of the immunity deals? Yes, waiting for something massive would appease you (and most people in normal circumstances), but these aren't normal circumstances. Like I said: you're not going to be the one being impeached once blood-thirty Republicans find out that you knew something and didn't tell Congress, in light of what you've already told them.

Lynch met with Bill right before the investigation ended. What was the protocol for that? This entire thing has been without much protocol.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I am fucking completely over how concerned my party is with appeasing the pieces of shit on the other side. They don't care. They laugh at our flexibility and how they can use it to their gain, because if we were as stubborn as they were they'd truly be fucked.

Are you the one with a ban bet? If yes, will you honor it?

Yes, but it's not a ban bet per se. He can't talk politics on GAF for an entire year. Actually he's supposed to not talk politics anywhere on the internet for an entire year. If Trump loses I believe.

But seeing as how he supports Trump, I'm hoping he doesn't pull a "it doesn't count because it was rigged" excuse.
Trump honestly believes that unless he wins, it was rigged.

More BS. Who gives a damn about how much the Republicans were hounding him? The beauty of bureaucracy is that as long as you hide behind the proper rules, you're covered. The drawback is that if you break protocol, then you're left to the wolves. What Comey did was so unethical that I wouldn't be surprised if everyone else in the FBI wants him out now.

Ok but with this move, he's likely losing his job anyway. It seems to me that this was just a move to prove that he was not being manipulated by Clinton, he was his own man. I don't think he was worried about his job though. I think if he was, he probably would have heeded the advice of others.

Your last point is fair. Though Lynch even said that because of that, Lynch couldn't really do anything about this. It's not being hidden.

What information is he hiding, if he doesn't even know what information he even has?

Whether he said that the investigation was closed is irrelevant. The FBI does NOT comment on this. This is literally without precedent. And Congress throwing a hissy fit should not have factored into any decision at all. It makes more sense for him to not disclose it because, as it turns out, they HAVEN'T uncovered anything, rather than running his mouth over pure speculation.

I absolutely think that Lynch broke protocol there and she has been heavily criticized for it. I won't defend her actions there at all. But I don't think that changes the fact that Comey stepped out on his lonesome here.

Wait so not only they haven't read what the emails contained before making this announcement, they don't even have the legal authority to read emails yet? What the hell?

Are you the one with a ban bet? If yes, will you honor it?

I didn't have a ban bet. But I do have a bet that bars me from posting about politics on the internet for a year if Hillary wins.

I have every intention of honoring the bet.

If Hillary doesn't win I get a tag and if she dies then the mod has agreed to step down.

And she even apologized and basically said she would follow the recommendations of the FBI. We will see if Comey actually admits he did anything wrong.

And meanwhile the Trump campaign stating definitively as fact that they clearly have something monumental and the indictment is coming.

FUCK. THIS. ELECTION.

Will they even have a court order before the election?

Comey is toast.

They were gonna do that either way. I have no pretension that the Trump campaign is acting on good faith on anything at all at this point.

Just a couple of months ago Trump himself was throwing a tantrum calling Comey corrupt because he recommended no indictment.
