So final verdict?

We won't get it for a good while, but most are expecting nothing at all to come of this. Most who are entrenched in the right-wing e-mail fever or those, you know, just asking questions. As far as taking a hit in the polls, it's possible, but at this point it won't turn the election, though it could affect the down ticket.

diablos991 wants to bring information to the table that is clearly false and creates his own bubble of reality to try and make a narrative.

Just like all the other people who post stupid shit that is easily debunked with a google search.

They don't want to be informed, they want to just live in a separate reality.

He's well known for coming into discussions just to muddy the waters and fill up pages with angry posts. I've come to just ignore anything he says, it's almost always useless.

Do you know how the US government works, or are you looking for punching bags to blame?

The reason Obama was unable to get much of what he wished to do done was because of obstruction by Republicans in Congress.

In the last week, Utah Senator Jason Chaffetz (R) said he had already lined up two years of investigations on Hillary. Which means it is likely the Republican obstruction will continue.

The informed stance here would be to not pin the blame on Obama and Hillary, but to properly research and understand why they are unable to accomplish most of their progressive goals. It's not because they are blue dog Democrats, as you arbitrarily label them, because their voting records, stated policies, and actions in their lifetimes show otherwise. It is because the branch of government that passes legislation has no interest in actually doing its job.

You were apparently keen enough to pick up the "blue dog Democrat" term, but not keen enough to do some proper research into fairly recent history?

Blue Dog Democrats don't really even exist anymore. I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Okay thanks. I just read too they need lawyers involved to allow them to read the emails? Then my friend sends me a alex jones video saying these emails are bad... i cant even comprehend i have a friend who listened to alex jones .... hes a minority too.
Thanks for the recap of what's been happening

So I'm confused. I've read and heard so much clarification on this issue and how much of a non-issue it is...so why are the networks still treating it like big news, and why is it affecting polls as if it's this big scandal? Like, they talk about how careless Comey was in his actions, but then keep on talking about it on and on and still call it an October surprise.

No... one is a racist, facist sexual predator. The other is Hillary Clinton. In what world are these two remotely close to being alike?

Bizarro World maybe? No, actually that isn't true. In that world, Trump is the opposite of racist and fascist and is actually respectful of women while Hillary really did do thousands of horrible things, all of them corrupt and illegal. Oddly enough, though Bizarro World sounds a lot like the red states, they'd vote for Hill in that scenario. Slayven can check my comicbook logic to be sure though.

Luckily, in real life, sensible people see there is no equivalency and vote accordingly.

My apologies if this had been asked already, I don't see anything in the OP in this regard:

How many emails are in consideration? Do we know even a rough order of magnitude? Like 100? 1000?

I'm with you here. This doesn't see, like it is being treated as nothing. And all the focus is now off trump and on Hillary.

We don't know.

There's going to be thousands of emails on a computer obviously but how many are relevant to Hillary and add anything new to the case, we have no idea.

According to CNN, they "stumbled" on some emails but then stopped because they need a separate warrant to read Huma's emails so I'm not sure anybody knows exactly how many relevant emails yet.

So final verdict?

.@BretBaier emails Chris Wallace while he's on air: Weiner has given FBI permission to search computer so no warrant needed. @FoxNewsSunday

I'm confused. They already have permission to read his emails because of the sexting investigation. They don't have permission to read Humas emails. How can Weiner give them permission for that?

Yeah CNN was pretty harsh on Hillary this morning, without actually showing why anybody should care about this. Just, emails bad. Nobody to blame but Hillary. Did I say emails bad?

I'm hoping, hoping the plan is to just carry this through the weekend and that Trump can't help but have the attention back on himself so he'll say something to get their attention.

Breaking: The Washington Post is reporting that the FBI team investigating the Clinton emails had been in possession of Wieners' laptop and knew about the emails for weeks. They did not inform Comey until Thursday.

if you don't want people to be condescending you should quit talking out of your ass about things you don't know anything about. blue dog democrat, right

Thank you for your input!!!

I am well aware of all of that. All of you dudes have this grand idea that these democrats who you (and I by the way) are voting for would somehow be these progressive heroes if it wasn't for those ol' darn republicans. Don't be so fucking naive.

Not necessarily. But they would get things done.

There are numerous examples one could trot out, but the simplest is the Supreme Court. A candidate that many republicans had previously stated that they liked, but once nominated suddenly he was the wrong candidate.

Fuck me running. I want to go Occam's Razor route and just say this is just idiocy and government bureaucracy at its finest. The other says whoever had this information weeks ago kept it quiet to fuck Clinton or Comey or BOTH and releasing it now just does that.

Purely political bullshit at this point.

This is it right here. At best we get some good court picks. So yeah, let's vote for her. It's worth it in the end. I just have such a low bar right now. Will the candidate not fuck up everything? No?? I guess she has my vote then.

It is only fucked because Comey sent out a bullshit letter less than 24 hours than finding out about it

The whole, "It was gonna leak anyway" argument seems kinda moot now.

It only leaked when Comey found out about it.

Because e-mail talk is about the only thing that's strong enough to distract from Trump that people give a shit about, and they really don't give much of a shit about them all that much since there's been a steady leak this month that's been almost entirely ignored, but since this has the FBI attached to it and harkens back to a heavily controversial point in the election, it's more prominent. The real issue was the beginning of the 'scandal,' and the vague letter that Comey sent out that lead to a lot of misreporting and misunderstanding that still seems to be lingering around a lot of the reporting.

Where are you seeing this affect polls as if it's a major scandal, though? The only recent poll I've seen that would reflect this is the ABC Tracking poll, but the actual drop wasn't really huge. Most of the elocorate and National polling aren't at a point where they are going to reflect this news as of yet. Are there other polls out there showing a significant drop for Clinton?

this election is so fucking dumb

Isn't the justice department the ones who grant the warrants?

Maybe Comey was being stonewalled by the Obama justice department and decided this was the only route to keep him out of jail and force the Justice department's hand.

Can someone please explain to me what this all about I'm so confused

Comey sent out a letter that referenced new found e-mails that could be important to the ongoing investigation of Clinton's e-mail server. The vagueness of it basically left a lot of questions, which also lead to a lot of misreporting, particularly about the case being "re-opened" despite the fact the case isn't technically closed. The lack of real information lead to a big freak about, because assumptions were being made that this was some kind of major development in the e-mail 'scandal.'

As it turns out, the e-mails found were on devices belonging to Anthony Weiner, that was part of a separate investigation, and it's not even clear if the e-mails on these devices are even new. No one has any idea if these even have anything to do with the Clinton case, it seems, and there's more and more questions about why Comey sent the letter, why he was so vague, and basically questioning if the whole thing wasn't just a partisan-driven move to try and dumb down the momentum Clinton had. There's been a lot of argument for and against Comey here, but the more and more we learn, the more politically driven it seems, and that's why a lot of the talk is divided right now between more e-mail speculation and Comey's questionable actions.
