FFVII: AC is "out"..

Himuro said:
Because she was the most realistic looking character! :lol

nah there was some "normal" looking people outside of her as well. But Tifa really got me. Sometimes I thought I was looking at a real person.

And what's with the Ultimania Omega guide for FFVII? Isn't it kind of late to be releasing a guide for the game? Or is it old and amazon are just featuring it prominently because of the movie?.

The Ultimania guides are the be all, my comprehensive guides you can get. They only began these with FFVIII so one was never released for FFVII and with FFVII International being re-released because of the AC craze, Square Enix felt it was about time they released an Ultimania book for the game. :)

Haha, over 360 replies and it's not even in the correct forum.

Could we stop with that stupid thing? It could be in either forum. It's a movie AND a sequel to one of the biggest games ever. :P

Definitely. Especially the beginning when she goes to walk up the stairs. Wow.

Is FFVII international been rereleased in US? And the ultimania guide?

IIRC...no Ultimania guide has ever been released here. Correct me if I'm wrong. =/ No re-release of FFVII either, bu tthen again, AC won't be out for awhile here. Can't honestly see them re-releasing FFVII here anyways...

Technically FFVII International already is released in the US. International is basically the US/European version of the game as the original Japanese version had some features cut to meet the deadline and release date including Ruby & Emerald weapon, Zack/Cloud cutscene etc. After FFVII was released in the US and Europe, Square re-released the game in Japan with the features that were originally cut as "Final Fantasy VII International".

As for the Ultimania guide in English? Not a chance. None of the previous volumes have been released outside of Japan and I doubt the FFVII will either. I say that though but Brady games is going ahead and releasing an English version of Capcom's Biohazard Archives but then the FFVII Ultimania Omega is nearly 600 pages... :lol

Damn. Somehow I don't think any fans are quite insane enough to scanslate a 600 page ultimania guide, especially given the graphics heavy nature of those books.

Some might give it a crack but whether or not they finish it is questionable. Regardless, I ordered myself a copy for collector's sake and it should arrive within the week hopefully. :)

T2 probably tops the list of "Best Action Films"
Face/Off. Recognize.

I don't know, I watch action movies for the action, not boring tripe like character development. Because of this, I wouldn't necessarily consider T2 an action movie. Sounds funny and stupid to say, but it's true. Consider the two Matrix sequels. Too much story fluff and boring "character" moments and not enough of what fans wanted to see: AI ass kicking.

Seems as if there is just as many people that like it, as those that hate it. I guess this is one of those "love/hate" type films. Ah well, I am a BIG sucker for action movies (hey, I thought XXX ROCKED!) as far as I'm concerned this movie could just have the fight scenes and I'd be happy.

I have the movie pre-ordered at Play-Asia so I hope to get it soon.

IMO, the action direction could've been much better... See the FFVIII intro for example; very clear what was happening in the fight between Squall and Seifer. The AC stuff OTOH are way too quick and hyperactive... very difficult to follow.

But I guess bonus of that kind of direction was showing how superhuman these guys are/were, which is fair enough given the context of the RPG.

I would've really liked to see Cloud pull of an omnislash as the limit break, instead of that 5 hit move.

Wait....Does this have that "shaky cam" BS?

My impressions:

Really liked the first half... but the second half dragged but I thought it picked up at the end again. I've always liked the RPG's that give character-related closures, and I felt that FF7 didn't do that at all, even compared to all the other FF's. Cloud fighting his demons, was what was needed and it does give some sense of closure too.

As an aside... is the stuff from the second ending all CG? If so... I was completely blown away. It looked so real.

Cloud was obviously CG, but I dont think the environment was. Look at how the lighting affected cloud as he rides among other little things. I think it was like Dinosaur, real background with CG character on it.

well i looks like his was made with the PSP in mind.

anyway better than the spirit within to say the least, nothing i'd watch the second time around though.........meh

Pretty meh overall, pace was silly, things seemed to just jump from one thing to the other. Did look and sound great though, and have some good scenes.

Just didn't seem to have much of the substance FF7s plot had, and bringing back pretty much every single character, whether they should be dead or not just seems to take away from the events of FF7.

Most of the plot just seemed pretty rubbish, the only thing that seemed to have any significance was clouds overall drama. Geostigma, the children, and the trio didnt really seem to have much substance.

I dunno how people thought the post credit bit was CG, admitadly i was confused about the characters (wasn't sure if they were actors, or CG till the end), but the locations were a jarringly different, partly due to the colours used during the film.

Goddamn! Everyone at school who is an FF fan, has watched or is watching Advent Children. This guy right across from me in the lab has it, and practically half the room (for SOME reason?) is a fan of FFVII and is watching it. I'm serous, if Square advertises this movie right like they did VII, they may make up for TSW in spades! :lol

...unless everybody just downloads it.

Movie Q:
in the beginning, one of the bad guys shows that he has Elena and Tseng's bloody ID badges. I thought he had killed them, but they show up near the end of the movie??

It was assumed they had died but it wasn't true. Vincent had saved them but they were badly injured and he wasn't exactly sure if they were going to make it. He tells Cloud this in that Crystal Forest after saving his ass from the Trio.

I am still trying to figure out how Eminem is listed on IMDB and in the .NFO file as a character in it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385700/

Okay, I'll tell you. It's a pretty crazy explaination though, I mean you think you're boggled NOW!

Stupid people like to fuck with IMDB and the stupid pirates copied the cast list wholesale.

And also:

Is there any hint at all as to how Tsueng is still alive?!
The hell?!
Ahem.

That's not Tseng. That's Shion (if I'm not mistaken). He's from Before Crisis, I think.

Not much nice to say about this one except for the beautiful graphics :|
Story was a bore, and at parts utterly preposterous:
W...T...F... was with the 318 people successively throwing Cloud into the sky? I viewed this with some FF7 fans, and I swear all the people I was watching it with were flabbergasted by the total retardedness of it. One of the most regrettable FF moments ever, possibly surpassing the "laughing scene" in FFX.

The animation in the fights looked really weird and unnatural at points.

Maybe the PS4 could have graphics like that real time. That'd be coo.

Really? You didn't like that part? I seriously thought it was extremely well played in terms of showing how the group was there for Cloud.
I mean, how cool was it that they even had Aerith help him out through the Bahumat's blast?

Yeah, that part was completely fanservice, just emphasizing teamwork among the group.

I liked the movie, I kinda feel like replaying the original now.

I hate to say it, but as cool as it was to see the entire gang there, that was for me the worst moment of the entire movie. IMHO, if they were
gonna have Cloud go DBZ and hit the skies, they should have just had him do it under his own power. But, it WOULD have been cool if Aerith still did help him just get through the blast - her role fit, where the others did not.

Is it wrong to say you bought a fansubbed bootleg?

Anyway, I wanted this movie to end about 5 minutes into it. Only reason why I kept it going was because I paid $2 for it and felt I needed to get some of my money's worth.

Still, it was better than TSW.

I guess I'm late to the party

Where in the hell did you guys get this already? O_o

Ok, that I can see. I don't agree with you, as I think that even though they gave Cloud amazing abilities in this film, I would have found it hard to think he could just flat out fly. But I can definately see your point.

I liked the whole "worked as a team" to launch cloud up to fuck up Bahamut.

If not in design or visual flair, than at least for it's symbolisis. That one scene summed up the entire 'team effort' that was potrayed in Final Fantasy VII.

Although, I think Barret should have said "you're skinny white ass is late!" As opposed to just saying "you're late."

That FF7 reference would have --kicked ass--

99% of the people in this thread that have seen this movie have, in fact, engaged in piracy...

OMG...I just watched the movie, I'm a FFVII whore and this is everything I hoped and wished for :D Sales +4! Some of the fight scenes would make some awsome .GIF files.

I just have to rewatch the damn thing it was awsome, Imagine a ZOE3 with those kinds of particle effects eeekk!! *shrieks like an over joyed school girl* Orgasmic fight scenes, cool story, not enough summons though :( but beggers can't be choosers :P
