Probabaly because in 90% of the cases, they are the same people.

Really? I often find people who enjoy FFVI tend to enjoy FFIX as well, not always, but I notice it quite a bit. Some even go off to enjoy XI as well. Maybe it's just me then.Tabris said:God. Red Scarlet said:The day a Dragon Quest game goes non-random battles is the day I stop playing new games in that series. It's one of the few things us clingers have left!
Hopefully the non-random battles will be more than what most NR are..button mash fests like Seiken Densetsu (more like button holding fests). Chrono Trigger did it acceptable.
belgurdo said:Forced fights in the same spots every time you go through a section are even worse than randoms
Better than non-random, IMO. Never played KOTOR..last PC RPG I played was an Ultima.

Stat progression based off of events in battle: FFII
Interchangable Job system: FFIII
Pathos-driven lead: FFV
Lead character-less cast: FFVI
Cinema-driven plot, (love it or hate it): FFVII
Junctioning, (hate it or hate it): FFVIII
Grid system: FFX
Think of it this way: Megami Tensei has been around in many forms for over a decade in Japan, with many sideshoots; of which we have gotten I think 4 of over here, (one for each branch). Playing thru SMT:N, I'm enthralled, because it's all new to me, and I'm not tired of it. Yet for an avid fan of SMT in Japan, the latest releases are new, sometimes very different spins on an old, comfortable formula, just like FF is to us NA RPG fiends.
Neither are "tired", it's just that some can get "tired" of them.

BTW, don't confuse junctioning for drawing, like most people do
Razoric said:is there anyone like me who actually liked them all?
FF 2 (4j) - loved it, my first real RPG experience (dropped dragon warrior and FF1 as a little boy, enjoyed zelda and metroid more :O )
FF 3 (6j) - still one of the best games ever imo. loved the story, the characters, the music, the events, the battle system... brilliant game
FF7-9 - loved the cinematics, music, etc. the battle system of part 8 was a bit crude (IMO) but overall they were very enjoyable
FFX - very fun game. loved the story (ending especially) but hated tidus' voice acting (my god that laugh)
FFX-2 - fun but should have never been made :O
FFXI - should have been called "Final Fantasy Online" shoudl not be a numbered FF imo.
:O
suikoden 2 still pwns them all

Probably had something to do with the fact that when I started playing it I was really sick and I was just in a generally bad mood while playing it. Combine that with the fact that I just didn't get the junctioning system at all, hated the idea of drawing magic, and found the story rather boring than it quickly fell onto my hate list and I didn't even beat the game until about a year and a half later. My first time through since junctioning seemed way too confusing for me I fell into the "summon and charge" trap and when I got to the final castle I was obviously dead meat from the very beginning.

what about triple triad.

Razoric said:part 9 was funny. square gave people exactly what they were asking for and people rejected them because of it.
:lol :lol
i personally liked part 9. vivi rox
Red Scarlet said:Freija > Vivi.
One of my biggest complaints about 9 (well 7-X2) is the low # of badguys in fights. But 9 was fun.
I liked 9, it was quite understated and I found the whole last boss to be rather heavy use of "deus ex machina" in a videogame, but no more than Zeromus was in FFIV I guess. I liked the increased number of party members though, I wish they'd go back to making four party members standard again.

dark10x said:Do you really think that those who praise the game do so as a result of the FMV? There was no more than an hour of FMV (probably much less, really) in FF7 and the game required more than 50 hours from most people in order to complete.
