LOL. The most hilarious part is Dani Alves being 87... really?

Definitely going to buy the PC version, at the very least.

Every year I hope for a more robust, clean and bug free Career Mode and every year I get burnt in some way that picks at me after I've completed the 5th year in a club or two. It is a new ritual and I have embraced it.

I hope they didn't spend 9 months just to make Messi "run like Messi" and to make Messi "oh gosh 95", but to fix all the crap Fifa11 had.
I don't even need to list everything, if you tried it you know what I'm talking about.

PS: I also hope they made the arena faster. Sometimes in Fifa11 it just didn't load and the menus were superfast. A nice black screen as background, no issues.. let me deactivate it, please.

Why is the defense still retarded? Is everyone playing on Amateur? I hope so. Some nice new animations here and there, but a lot of bad stuff still being re-used from FIFA 09 (passing and shooting mainly). Impact engine looks good.

First thing I noticed too. In every single video there's a player scoring or breaking through the opponents defence completely because of inept defending. It's just so game breakingly bad. Fifa has been like this for a while, rarely do you jump in joy at scoring a goal on Fifa, on PES every single goal is an achievement and a celebration.

hmm.

Well maybe playing with sliders can make defenders more reactive, more careful.

What I feel is always missing is the organization jump between small teams and big teams.
I mean, when defending all teams feel the same. Obviously there are faster players, heavier players etc. but the organization is the same, Lecce's way to defend feels the same as Milan's, even if at lower speed. You should be able to see them unorganized sometimes, but it happens randomly also with bigger teams.

My two cents.

Yes, but we are years away from having actual tactics in FIFA games.

About the AI, I believe the demo was in normal difficulty. If you change it to World Class or Legendary, you wouldn't be complaining, the AI still looks stupid in those settings but it sure can kick pretty much everyone's ass in Legendary.

Yeah EA doesn't want to implement big changes knowing it'll affect their core audience (last I heard, even the new Tactical Defending feature will be switched off for online). I just wish they'd divide the whole game into two modes, Normal (as it is right now) and Simulation.

wow, I can't believe that, anybody have confirmation of this...

I was hoping to venture out into the scary world of online VS mode this year figuring the days of relentless pressure were over, this is kind of a bummer if true

on another note, are we gonna get a 360 club going again this year?

Probably because they are (some videos you can see the difficulty at the top before the match starts).

Here's one on World Class that shows off a much better AI imho: http://youtu.be/xmUJajHxgjY

The cpu starts off being very aggressive but after scoring the first goal they just focus mainly on covering passing angles. Not only that, when it ran out of options, it actually turned around, dribbled back to make a pass to the RB (6:48). And I like that the AI mistimed its header (7:23) because I hate how usually its freakin perfect at receiving them on clearances..

I've never played a FIFA (or PES) game before, but as an attempt to get myself more into football in general I'm thinking of picking this up. Are these games fairly beginner-friendly? I can see there's a lot of depth to it, I'm just curious if anyone has any first-time player experiences with recent iterations.

Yes, the're noob friendly. You can just stick to arcade or enter the career mode in easy difficult.

Very noob friendly and online you are of course matched with someone of your rank online, so even people who are not very good can have some even and fun matches.

Yeah, on top of the easy difficulty setting, I'm pretty sure they'll carry over the Two Button control system from the last game, first implemented in Fifa 2010 World Cup:

If you want the ball to go to another player, you simply press A - the computer will work out whether it needs to kick it in the air, or on the ground, and perform a perfect pass for you. If you want to shoot, you press B, and the game will calculate the best shot for you - choosing whether to chip it, perform what's known as a "finesse" shot, (don't worry, we don't really understand what that means either), or simply blast it into the net.

When you don't have the ball, the controls are equally simple. If you want to tackle a player, you press A. If you want a sliding tackle, that's on B. And that's all there is to it.

Yeah, I guess it's beginner-friendly enough.

I tried the same thing with Madden NFL, but due to the giant-ass baggage of rules the games are not so easy to play if you don't know everything. Football is not that hard, you just need to know some rules.. offside, penalties, free kicks, when it's corner or goal kick, how you can interact with the opposing team and... that's all I think.

Obviously later you'll want to know what's the best way to get to the goal, what players are faster, who is lefty and so on but the game is not that hard to enjoy.

Just 3 games in to the season Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain recieved a substantial amount of growth receiving around 10 stats improvements. Most were just +1 but there were a few, +2 and +3 upgrades too. Which when compared to FIFA 11′s +1 growth for an entire season is surely a good sign

Sounds like they've gone too far the other way now.

Well I think the first PS3 fifa ran at 30fps. I remember some talk about the switch to 60fps.
Yeah from FIFA 08 I believe...Peter Moore declared all other PS3 sports games to run at 60 from then on if I recall correctly

Couple new videos:

Barca VS Dortmund: http://youtu.be/wU251pQC2pA?hd=1
Dortmund VS ManCity: http://multiplayer.it/articoli/92131-fifa-12-la-gamescom-di-fifa-e-pes.html

Some news:

“For all you manual fiends out there, during pre-search you can also choose ‘Any’ or ‘Manual’ if you want to guarantee another manual user. When you choose to search, we take your Division, skill, location, controls, DNF % (essentially how often you ‘rage quit’), and Club star level to find an ideal opponent and take you straight into a match. We even make sure you see the kit you chose and prevent kit clashing in the game.”

With such a big focus on making two new modes in Head to Head Seasons and Online Friendlies, we made a conscious decision to avoid major feature work in Pro Clubs and instead focus on bug fixes, tuning, and testing.

Source: http://www.ea.com/uk/football/news/fifa-12-online-2

BOOOO. Well actually I'd be more than happy if they fix all the problems in Pro Clubs, considering I spent tons of hours in that. Awesome news for all you manual players out there though!

barcelona was already overused online..with that kind of stats, all the little kids in the world and people who play not for the fun but to win are gonna use barça

Although I agree that having a super-team messes up the online, what can you do? Barça with all starters in tip-top shape is currently the best team in the world by far. Should FIFA misrepresent the reality for the sake of the online fun?

In my opinion in FIFA 11 MU stats were not realistic, neither Real Madrid. The worst joke is that Clown named Kaká. 84 for a dead player? hahahahahaha!

About the Brazilian clubs, any word of who did EA manage to license this year? CBF is a mess and licensing in not centralized by the league there.

Also, talking about the ubber-corrupt CBF of Ricardo "thief" Teixeira, any word if EA managed to license the only country in history with 5 world cups? Last year EA was pathetic at missing it...

Played a couple of matches on FIFA 12 today. Didn't play the CPU so can't comment on defensive AI. But I do like the new defending system; just tough to re-wire your brain to use the LT (on 360) to shadow people.

No Greek Superleague AGAIN EA?????? FUCK YOU and the horse you rode in on. PES it is then.

Probably down to popularity and the rumours of the Greek FA demanding silly money for league rights. Bit silly of EA considering how much bloody money they make out of FIFA.

At least you'll have PAOK in the "Rest of World" section. I heard they beat Fenerbahce!!!!
