Seems like Capcom forgot about stage interactions, China stage is the only one with those so far.

That sounds about right. They start off ambitious and cut corners when it gets closer to release.

When Street Fighter x Tekken was going to be released, they were going to mimic Tekken where everyone spoke their native language. It's why Abel's intro line is in French. However, they scrapped that and had normal english/japanese like they do in capcom fighters.

Maybe they want them to be a surprise and the one in China is a way to let everybody know they exist. Now you're looking forward to seeing what other stages have secrets.

I think they said from the jump not to expect them to be a part of every stage or something about it being inconsistent by the nature of how they ended up coming to be.

I think it's crummier because now after looking at every stage you imagine ways to extend it.

Nah, I believe they've said that 1) not all stages will have them and 2) not all interactions are going to be obvious, they are meant to be discovered.

SFV Year Two patch notes: now EVERY stage has interactions!

I thought you got a special finish for KOing your opponent into a subway train or something.

That's not also China, is it?

Now I'm kind of sad that pure 2D fighters never quite recovered. It's mostly niche stuff now except for BB and KOF. Yeah, SG is probably niche. AH, UNIEL and the rest are even more niche than that too.

I'm not misunderstanding anything. His post was about DC sales and I took it a bit further by bringing up PS1 and arcades which I even apologized for since it felt like I was going off on a tangent of sorts. I'm not seventeen years old. I was already in my teens and felt the impact of 3D. The only big 2.5D fighter in town was Smash to boot. If the poster I quoted had mentioned 3D I would have gone into it. As it stands that was just another one of the many factors that helped to bury 3S and 2D fighter popularity in general. BTW you didn't bother to address anything I said about the PS1. If the most well known port of your main entry in a flagship IP is on the most notorious failed console (soon to be usurped by Wii U probably lol) of all time then your support ain't worth much. I'll be fair and admit there isn't much that is clear to address so I'll just leave the pages discussing that whole mess below.

Edit: Found a better post on the subject with better followups.

Edit#2: Feel free to eat me alive on the line "As it stands that was just another one of the many factors that helped to bury 3S and 2D fighter popularity in general. BTW you didn't bother to address anything I said about the PS1". You explained plenty, but somehow I missed it. Still doesn't change the fact that going from 60k sales to 1 MILLION is a massive improvement no matter how you see it.

There have been worse fighters and after nearly a decade people were thirsty.

Thanks for clearing this up and sorry about that, I didn't followed you previous posts. ^^'
The thing is, I don't think you can port a CPS3 game to a Playstation. Even Alpha 3 at the time was somehow a technical masterpiece for a playstation with relative small loading times so how could they have done that with the SF3 series?

Nuts, I don't think I'm going to get the TE2 bezel I ordered from MadCatz in time for CEOtaku. I'll have to rethink my nWo-inspired stick art to work with what I have on hand.

Aside: When you think prowrestling, orange and white, what do you think?
Probably not Kenta Kobashi, eh?

So with Filipinoman being on team youporn, that photoshopped image of him as Andrei from Prison School is all I see now.

Jojo's was on ps1. It had frames removed and looks like shit but it's playable.

This SF4 slow walk speed shit always cracks me up. The only game last gen that had faster walkspeeds was KoF.

It's cool

I kind of flew of the handle a bit so I ended up having to edit stuff. It's just that neither of us were discussing 3D so I felt like I was being talk down to over something I didn't even have a chance to be wrong about lol. My bad on that.

Regarding Jojos... it's far more intensive since characters AND stands have to be animated versus 3S' two fighters and supers weren't even so flashy that they'd have to be downgraded a ton. Pizzaro pretty much covered it. It wouldn't be an arcade tier release, but those hundreds of thousands of people completely missed out on a main entry in a flagship Capcom title. That is just unacceptable and it clearly did damage SF3's chances at keeping mind share high for the series and that particular entry. Console players only cared about having the product in their hands at the time. Before the internet got big some missing frames weren't exactly deal breakers for those of us who just wanted to play the game. I wonder if we would look back so fondly on Alpha 3 without that million seller PS1 port...

I'm pretty sure a factor was the video ram limit. I know they cut out some animation frames in SFA3 for psx, so SF3 would have looked like SFA2 for snes lol...

Who in here thinks that always knew English all this time and just recently dropped it on us or do you think that like in fighting games his language skill is that godlike?

You heard me , do you think he knew English on the low or he just picked it up? His English is pretty good better than West Virginia natives.

Some people learn quick as hell

Not really that surprising. Japan and Korea all have mandatory English for like... a solid 10 years of their lives, not counting if w/e program they were in for college required it as well. While the normal course is fucking terrible, it leaves a lot of people with a rudimentary understanding in the back of their mind. Most people just need to immerse themselves in the language for a few weeks to spark that fire a bit, and basic communication is easy after that.

And I would not doubt that he, Tokido, Gamerbee and a few others took a few classes or w/e after they realized they would be going back and forth.... and the nonsense lingo in the fgc is stupidly easy to burn into people's head. Hence all the dota peeps saying salty.

But what I'm not salty about is playing Laura tomorrow. Planning on cutting the line, if I get stabbed on the way its worth it.

FGC needs one of those Honest Trailers. Where people are told that they ain't shit, that they ain't ever gonna be shit and that this money is for other people and definitely NOT them.
There will always be jobbers/pot monsters and there will always be main characters/winners.

However, without putting in the maximum amount of effort/hardwork into a game you don't really know if you have what it takes to win big. Can't just go around telling people (or yourself) that they have no talent for fighting games and should just give up playing competitively. That's not really healthy for the scene.

Well personally I think all people are capable of learning advanced concepts, the issue is effort. If some people struggle to learn they should know that it will take -more work-, not that it's impossible.

It's true in fighting games but life as well. You get out what you put in (privelage notwithstanding, such as rich parents or living with Justin Wong).

If you can't do or understand something, redouble your efforts. Want it and go after it. Even if there's a talent gap, there is ample time and resources to make up for it.

That is very true. Just some people will grasp things quicker or some find the right way to learn. It's all case to case basis. I'd rather people say instead of " You can be on even terms on everybody if you have the proper training regiment or have the right people around you to learn"
