sometimes i wonder if the feel of old games is attributable to them being in 4:3. i dont know anything about anything so i have no clue if this actually effects gameplay in anyway. do you guys think there is a discernible difference when moving form 4:3 to widescreen?

yata runs in 4:3 and feels like an old game to me.

4:3 and 16:9 can be entire different universes when it comes to games :p

Sakura has her wake EX dp so you might want to learn some safe jump setups Chun Li has on characters, you should be looking for a move that has a low start up and cannot be punished by dp's

Sakura's EX Dp is one of the easiest reversals to safejump/safe pressure against.

12 frame startup.

Hit any light button and rest assured as long as you wait and react that you will not get hit by the DP

That is so awesome to know, since its so late into SFIV I won't bother remembering frame data but for SFV I will. Also, I thought that it had invincibility on start up since I tried pressuring on wakeup and got hit the majority of the time. So Cindi, pressure Sakura on wake up according to what mbpm1 said.

The bigger threat if you're trying to safe jump the ex-dp is them doing cr fp. Much more likely to work. Ex-dp doesn't really come up in conversation except as a desperation move, otherwise it's usually just combo'd in to

Read my previous post, I mentioned cr hp is too good so to not jump in. Now that I think about it Chun-li's jump fierce might be great for wakeup pressure and she might recover fast enough to not get hit by something but you can never be too safe with your setups Vulva.

Sakura's defense is pretty meh when you can get a solid meatie on her. HP mash is her best defensive option by a huge mile.

It does have invincibility. It just doesn't become active so it doesn't matter much.

Like Vulva said, just straight up cr hp is a better option, or I guess, cl standing Hp with that 3 frame startup if they want to wake up with a button and hope you mistimed/didn't press something.

We hit cl.HP because it challenges real mix up. Like if somebody is going meatie 100% of the time there is no mix up, just OS crouch tech. The meatie confirms them a situation but if it's the same all the time it's easy to react to. If they try to walk on us or leave a delay cl.HP murders them or leads to use being post tatsu on block. cr.HP is for when they're making it likely cl.HP won't come out.

Edit: I know some people will say cr.HP is cause you also tech throw with it, but you can OS throw tech with cl.HP too :p fucking SF4 where I OS throw tech every time I fart.

Are you saying this for Chun-li? I'm a little confused with the wording now, also not knowing which normals are what for Chun-li isn't helping me either lol

Yeah I switched back to neutral tech near the end of our set after realizing there wasn't a single scenario where I got away without damage, but my main problem is still my defense. I don't got those anime reflexes yet. And yeah, getting sandwiched between Carl and the doll is pretty much GGPO without bar. But as frustrating as it is, I'm actually enjoying the Carl match up a lot.

jk fuck Carl

This is the best fight of SF I've ever had.

It's not the fight I won against Vulva, but it's where I ALMOST won.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqX2cAoe46M

A few weeks ago, I had trouble just getting a ROUND off of Vulva.

Even thought I lost, and even though Ibuki tells me to train more, I feel so damn good, dammit. That I've gotten to this point, despite all the flaws in my game, where I can comfortably say,"I came this close to beating you."

I think Vulva is holding back, and that he hasn't shown me the other layers of his Ibuki. Despite that this fight felt great. I'm really proud of it, and I'm sharing it despite my loss to the rest of FGC gaf because I love you guys. <3

T minus 12 hours till the SFIV's last hurrah. It's been a good five or so years. I've been here from the beginning.

I don't know if Evo can just say goodbye to 1000 entry fees. They would have to be confident that SFIV and SFV population heavily overlap.

Carl is super annoying, thankfully he explodes on hit
I just don't get how he gets all of the following:
-Invincible roll
-Overhead
-Cross-up overhead
-The doll sticks around when Carl is hit
-Doll has an overhead
-Doll can attack from off screen and hit
-Best pressure in the game

How is all of that on one character?

Edit: AW YEAH two 2-0s against Rhapsody in a row. EAT IT CARL.

And why can't Hakumen even have one good anti-air option? lol

Lol, Carl is like an easymode Zato.

What determines whether I stop the doll attacks?
Hit the doll with anything that's not a projectile. If it's the anti air attack with the nails, it has guard point against air normals.

Also Carl is way harder than Zato.
I can't believe ASW lets this character exist in this state, lol.

Why are your aerials + on block but mine are - on block? -_-

What, Carl is bad in this game loll

Not according to this tier list:

Goro
S Jin, Nu
A Valkenhayn, Hazama, Kokonoe, Relius, Litchi, Tager, Taokaka
B Azrael, Ragna, Tsubaki, Makoto, Bang, Izayoi, Carl, Noel, Kagura
C Rachel, Platinum, Bullet, Celica, Mu, Lambda
D Amane, Terumi, Hakumen, Arakune

No fucking way is Carl harder than Zato. You don't even suffer a punishment if your doll gets hit.
