There was this small invitational from Abema TV. Koichi (chun) ended up winning the event over Tokido. Nemo and Fuudo ended up in 3rd place. Mago, Haitani, Storm Kubo, Itazan, Nuki, Yukadon, and I can't remember the other player that competed in this tournament.

Redbull proving grounds (CPT NA finals) is $20 reg fee, free entree fee. It also has a $15k CPT prize pot and a $5K pot offered by red bull. They did lower the 1024 open bracket cap to 512 though.

That's a pretty big pot for those that still haven't qualified into Capcom Cup 2016.
The real question is outside of the top 1%, who has the money to travel to this on top of all the other events taking place, and whether if people even know about it given the lack of promotion.

People should know about it. It's the last chance qualifier for Capcom Cup.
You'd be surprised.
Capcom hasn't done a good job promoting any of the CPT finals or Capcom Cup itself.
Last year, we found about Capcom Cup in August right after Don't announced PSXeperience moved to San Francisco.
This year, it's September and Capcom Cup still hasn't been announced. Assuminging it's because Sony is still waiting to announce PSXeperience again, still it's not a long of time for a person to prepare and plan for a trip if they want to go.
Then there is the CPT regional finals. NA is the only place to announce their locations and rules. Even then, some people consider it to be poorly promoted.
Asia is confirmed to be in South Korea, but no date yet or what the tournament will look like.
Europe hasn't have a date or location yet, but most people assume it's Dreamhack Winter.
And then there's Latin America.... Uh.... No location, no date, and its a region that spans from Mexico all the way to the tip of Argentina. I hope Capcom knows where it's taking place.
All 4 tournaments are supposed to take place in November, so Capcom got two months to make the last leg of the qualifications to work.
Edit: Justin Wong says he won't make the LA CPT regionals finals.

I'm halfway through DMC3, and I can't agree more. Sucks that I can't even input a code to unlock it and I have to beat the game just to unlock a good outfit.

Probably a combination of poor communication and management (a given since its Capcom) and having to coordinate with another entity (Sony) this time.
Capcom hasn't done a good job because on the show where they could actually talk about the pro tour, they rather play randoms online for starters. There's still a bunch of events on the schedule listed as TBD. Only one of the 3 regionals actually has a date and a venue. We still don't even know when Capcom Cup actually is since they're married to Sony. Then we expect broke gamers to make it to Seattle right before holiday season to try and compete?
I hope it all works out.

Played some of that PC title I got before the move a bit ago; Ougon Musou Kyoku. Its the fighting game 07th expansion put out based on the Umineko When They Cry visual novel. I dont think I've felt animations this clunky since Phantom Breaker Extra. Got a few neat specials and mechanics though, I'll give it that. English fan patch works fine too. I think the same folks who did Gun Bullet Children did this patch. Gotta say I dig the soundtrack. Its pretty fun and different with all the victorian stuff. Sounds sorta like an RPG or an older Atelier title or something.
Just about fully settled in now at the new house and seeing all this weird shit makes me want to get back to work. Between playing KOF 14 and then playing experimental fighter stuff its just sorta the right mix to get me goin again. Time to go fuck something up royally again

Gensou no Rondo launches today folks for PS4. Bullethell shooter starring Touhou thats so much like Senko no Ronde it had to be licensed by G. REV.
If you wanna try out a very different and very intense kind of 1 on 1 throwdown go for it. I get the feeling if anyone here enjoyed the combat in games like Furi or Hyper Light Drifter that they would enjoy the frenetic pacing of a Senko No Ronde clone. Rings denote ammo and range of main and subweapons. Get used to barrier and dashing and learning to dodge bullethell. Its a blast.
BTW those are the normal attacks in Senko No Ronde style games. Check out what passes for supers!
