People give JamesMK shit but he's been saying this stuff about the NRS community for some time. They feel more self entitlement than even the Smash scene. Hell they fight among each other more than any other scene.

It apparently is.

Another interesting point during tonight's ATP live was Arena talk. How there's no way Evo can go back now and that there's a bigger division between Sunday honors and being stuck with Saturday/Friday finals.

Aris is going to be disappointed when Tekken isn't at the Arena next year

I mean 16 bit has the right to disagree with their commentating. But couldn't he just talk to them and ask them to get off. Instead of taking things to extreme like that?

This UMVC3 match went 0 to 60 in a second.

https://youtu.be/-jU7nhj6Ncs?t=5m50s

Context: Jan put Nemo into losers in emphatic fashion then they had a runback. Crowd was gathering around them, some cheering Nemo while others cheering Jan. Their runback ends up going the distance.

Warning: Thuggery levels are high, don't call the Capcops.

guy yelling was the worst part of that video. Him yelling would be fine, but him trying to talk smack was -100/10. Shit was bad

How do you remember this

probably read the rkappa thread on it which lead him there. I doubt he remembered that shit

I don't mind Ultra David. I don't have a problem with Aris either actually. I think they did a good job. My beef is that they're not MK specialists. That's not to say they're not part of the NRS community. They are, they're just not die hard experts like KP or Ketchup and Mustard. So I think it's kind of a shame that the EVO staff still doesn't choose our game specialists who are very popular to commentate on the biggest stage. Instead the opportunities go to the multi game guys. More than anything I was frustrated with Sajam saying our community guys need to work harder. I don't know what more they can do. K&M are literally professional commentators for a major E-Sports organization and they still didn't get the spot over the FGC establishment guys. I don't think hard work is the reason.

I think NRS guys suggesting we don't support EVO are silly. This is like 5 guys though. It's not a serious movement. People are just frustrated the tournament sucked. The staff said all the right things though, it'll be fine.

The idea that were being too "entitled" doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me though. EVO or any other tournament is a service, a product. Something we spend a lot of money on. If someone like Foxy feels he had a poor experience then criticizing the event is not being too entitled, it's a rational response. I haven't seen many complaints that haven't been reasonable.

He's not a NRS guy according to some of them.

According to like, 3 dudes. Again, let's not start saying "the NRS community" and what not when we're talking about a few people.

On Twitter I talked about Ultra David and Aris not being MK specialists and it turned into guys like Rip and Max outraged about how I'm acting like they're not even part of the NRS community, when I was just saying it's not their specialty, and surely no one would reasonably dispute that.

That's surprising he said that. He was on the other end when Filipinoman said KI players don't love their game looking at the CEO entrant numbers.

There's only so much a person can do in Capcom land

Fair enough 16 bit. I see where you coming from. And while I think ketchup and mustard are way more knowledgeable than Aris or David IMO they are not as fun to listen to. I saw nothing but praise for the commentary during the MKX finals. People really enjoyed both the matches and commentary. That final between sonicfox and tekkenmaster was sick. I think MKX had the hypest Grand finals out of all the games I saw.

EDIT: from what little I usually follow about NRS games I think Tom brady makes a great commentator. Hes fun to listen to and obviously knows a lot about the game.

Watching this tournament video and man is this game awesome. Why did it not catch on. :(

Wii only. Also most folks(in America) don't know and/or care about old school Tatsunoko anime. I also think the giant characters being used in tournament may have turned some people off to competitive play.

I say this as somebody who enjoyed Capcom vs Tatsunoko, though my knowledge of the game is pretty cursory.

If Capcom vs Tatsunoko was Capcom vs Shonen Jump, you can bet your ass that you'd get a lot more people on that.

Could you please explain?

And why hasn't Capcom made this game yet? This sounds awesome.

After that they should do Marvel vs Shonen vs Capcom.

In addition to what CommandThrower said, the US version of the game came out around the time Marvel 3 was announced. I almost bought it before that happened.

So it was seen as an appetizer. Sad. The game seems different from Marvel. Like if Capcom vs SNK 2 and Marvel had a baby or something.

I wonder if the game would have been bigger in the FGC is Marvel was never released or even SFIV.

Most probably it being a wii exclusive. Also if you notice this game was clearly the blueprint for MvC3. MvC3 just had iconic characters like spider man and captain America plus great childhood memory of playing the older versions of VS games. So people flocked to that instead of TvC.

Explain...my cursory knowledge? I've only played Capcom vs Tatsunoko a handful of times. I never got good enough to really get into the knitty gritty with the system mechanics; I never did optimized combos, I never messed around with the Baroque system, and I never did a Mega Crash. Every time I played it was at casual meetups with my local scene. I played Alex and Tekkaman and I enjoyed the time I spent playing it, but I never bought it; nobody in my scene was taking the game even half way serious.

I'll say this much about TvC
2 characters >>>>>> 3 characters

It sounded like UltraDavid was getting pretty frustrated at the sniping of some just because he came from Street Fighter. EVO is a chance for everyone to blend and crossover, no need for this sort of fight.

I forgot about how much bitching went down just because the first year of Tag 2 was all on Friday. Like just stop. And while we're at it, I'm still disappointed that Bob came back. Completely unnecessary and waste of a slot.

1) Wii exclusive.
2) Marvel 3 came shortly after it.

Marvel 3 killed it essentially. It was seen as a newer version of the VS series but then Capcom came out with MVC3 which used a modified TVC engine but with characters the West actually cares about AND on PS3 + 360... that was the end of that.

Glad MKX's esport commentators didn't get to commentate EVO, their anti Sonicfox shit from the last ESL was shameful, even though I really wanted to see him lose too. Aris and Ultra were way more professional and entertaining. Being MKX loyalist shouldn't means shit if the other commentators are knowledgeable enough and overall better commentators.

Ultra David seem to know more about MKX than James Chen does about SFV, and nobody complain about James Chen commentating SFV! ¯(°_o)/¯

K&M aren't Americans am I right? There, you got your answer.
And maybe K&M value their own work and know they deserve better than 35$ an hour. And also maybe paying your own room at EVO to work at EVO is stupid and they don't want to be part of that.

plus baroque and mega crash weren't well-received mechanics were they?

HYPE!

I'm crossing my fingers for a PS4/XB1/PC port of UMVC3.

Trophies leaked for Marvel Ultimate Alliance on PS4/XB1. I don't see any reason why UMVC3 couldn't get the same treatment.

It's also an MT framework game, capcom's been porting alot of those to current consoles + PC lately.

I want to believe something is coming.

They should put the hitbox viewer from the vita version in the gen 8 port of umvc3. Though I guess if there's a PC port that won't matter since toolassited will have the hookups.

People were talking about similar bodytypes in SFV, I don't know, but I find Chunli twice as big compared to Ibuki when I look at this :

I'd be so satisfied with a port of Marvel 3.
Yup. I will buy any port of UMvC3 no matter how sloppy it is just because it's one of two games I keep my PS3 around for (the other being Dragon's Crown).
