I thinks we've worked out a pretty good deal where Count doesn't want to play SFV, nobody wants Dee Jay in SFV, and Count only wants to play Dee Jay.

That said, considering Capcom is pretty willing to give characters makeovers, what could they do to make Dee Jay interesting or less garbage? Visually and play style wise?

Truly a shame, but that's the devs problem for not thinking about what a good f2p does.
They were doomed from the start with their choice of engine. I think they managed to optimize things down a little in a later patch but my four year laptop still has issues with it. Meanwhile, League runs just fine at 30fps.

You givin Capcom too much Credit. We only have Ken and Vega being different and Cammy getting an ass.

Playing the SF5 test reminded me of just how goddamn awful I am at this whole series. Then again, the closest game I've played to that in the last five years is... Aquapazza? So I guess it shouldn't be too surprising. -_-
That and it's another reminder that some people in the US have some awful Internet. They're probably on some Fischer-Price wireless router, as well.

What.

Almost as confusing: why were you at half life at the start of the round?

As a Jamaican I hope they keep DJ out. Dem mek him play like shit. Mi nah deal wi dat fuckery.
You're more likely to see Karin in SF5 than DJ... and you're hoping Capcom makes him good? You're on some good stuff if you're thinking that.

Guess people need to switch to the PS3 version.
Nah it's not enough to switch to the PS3 version.

Only thing that it's going to change is that EVERYONE should be using this after it's confirmed and started to get used by the top American players. There really is no point not to.

I don't think we'll see either DJ than Karen. I don't hope they make him good I have no faith in that happening. I think you are good on your thinking that Karen is in. It's unlikely.

Uhhh I didn't get a stick yet. Not in a hurry either. Going to customize my versus for Destiny. PS4 can wait.

It's more like he's arguing with a strawman. No one said lowering the execution barrier is gonna make the casuals as good as the "pros".

What hopefully happens is the simplified inputs don't scare off as many newbies as other fighters. Some of them will make the transition to being top level players.

That may well be it. Now that won't let the casuals get as good as the pros but I garentee it will allow more causals to progress into pros if the game hooks really get into them.

I do agree with his Tekken example of it's being a game that only caters to the hardcore issue that it is skirting with. But on one hand I want it to be that to let that experiment play out and we'll see how well that experiment plays out.

What tournament is on Art's stream? It's Marvel and that's the last thing I figure Art would stream when SFV beta is going on and stuff.

James isn't entirely wrong

some level of complexity is desirable

EDIT:

to clarify, execution failure isn't something that is necessarily detrimental, it allows for variety and randomness. overcoming the chance of failure is an aspect of gaming in and of itself. the reason mario jumps is because there are holes on the ground. allowing the chance to misjudge the distance is part of the game itself.

James is arguing that there's more to being good at a fighting game than execution, so there are ways to have "variety and randomness" beyond input errors.

According to steamcharts there are like up to 100 peeps playing. Most EXVS fans are going to keep playing FB and wait till MB, probably.

I don't think they changed anything in terms of optimization. If it ran bad on the same machine it will also run badly now.

That's kind of lowish. Anyway the game almost melted my PC so I guess I won't be playing it further.

There's more to fighting games than just combos. But combos look really cool so you think you need to do the huge ones all the time to be good. It's a very easy mindset to get into. And when you can't do those combos most of the time in the match you feel disappointed.

There are things like fundamentals that get ignored completely in favour of trying to learn combos.

Like I just started anti-airing during the SF5 beta when that's something I almost never do. It's one of those basic things that you should learn at the start but if you're chasing combos you will ignore practicing that in favour of trying to figure out the timing on that one combo that you probably won't be using any time soon because you'll be losing to things you should have already learned how to handle.

Even after saying all of this I will probably fall into the combo trap next time I play something.
