Fighting Games Weekly | April 1-7 | And after 0-3, he has risen

They keep saying PDP controllers are the best selling controllers but I don't know one person, online or off that has bought one.

That said, 3D is harder to do on PC than 2D, so I kinda understand why Namco doesn't do it.

Say what now?

Me neither. I'd also never buy one myself now (well never say never I suppose because even Madcatz have had their bumpy days in the past), but it will never be with a promo code.

Maybe you should ask Ravi why it might be a negative for a developer in the first place. I can't see the negative in more word of mouth, sales, less red tape, etc.

Probably because of piracy would be my guess, although with the next gen consoles being based on pc parts, I wonder how hard a PS4 emulator would be to code.

First I've heard of this.

Why?

Wider variety of configuration, folks who don't update graphics drivers, higher performance requirements.

Skullgirls would run on a 10-yr old laptop. A 4-yr old laptop struggles with SFIV.

And Japanese devs are deathly afraid of piracy- I get the impression most of them would rather lose sales than risk any piracy. SNK going under might have really scared some of them. I'm just hoping the KOF to Steam rumors have truth, but I suspect if it happens it won't be because SNKP wishes it.

These hardware "issues" are not exclusive to FGs though its in every PC release, if you want to play a fighting game on an old laptop, either lower your graphic settings and resolution or play in less than optimal framerate. I haven't had the chance to try it on a laptop but I heard that SF4 could run on anything pretty much.

As for the fear of piracy, it is to be expected from the Japanese devs/pubs, the platform is still largely alien to them so I'm not surprised that their views on it are still stuck somewhere in 2006. I'm glad that Capcom of all people are on it in a pretty significant way at least.

The only thing that is surprising is no MK or any NRS support given they they are a western house and with UE3 to boot, you would think that a quick and easy pc port is a sure thing. I can guarantee that a steam release of Injustice would outsell the Wii U version easy.

I bought one of these around the time UMVC3 came out, before the era of the promo code.

Not too bad, but the micro switches take a little getting used to.

What's there to elaborate? It's pretty obvious making money from the PC market is already a hard task, and fighting games have never been big for PC gamers. Why do you think Capcom has been treating the PC AE and SFxT owners so badly?

That treatment is why it's so hard. I think the demand is there, it will be stronger at the start of next-gen, especially with fightsticks working on PCs, and Capcom is known to make stupid SNK-like decisions lately. The fact that most FG devs are Japanese and PC gaming isn't big in Japan at all is also a very large factor.

I think the demand is there, no one's really tried legitimately to fill it.

I own a 360 Afterglow controller, and it is very good indeed. No quality issues, it looks great and I love the feel of the various buttons. The LB and RB buttons are very clicky, the triggers have strong springs, the start button is in a great place and the analogues are very good too.

His next stop is NCR, which Daigo is also attending. Can Daigo finally redeem himself after two embarrassing defeats? Will we see a Infil/Sethlolol runback? Will NorCal and the rest of America be more concerned about Marvel and let internationals run a train on them in SF4 again? Wait, scratch that last part because it's a fact.

Most of America doesn't care about getting stomped in sf4 it seems, after all the complaining and saying they were going to pick a top tier, PR Rog is the only one who has, everyone else continues to use the same characters and never put in the time/work like Infiltration.

The real question is if NCR can redeem itself after moving out of San Francisco.

PDP is just rebranded Pelican. Remember them?

I used to have the Pelican Brain Boy

It was like Action Replay or Gameshark, but just for Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. Save data backup, ability to edit any pokemon with any attack, any amount of money (kappa), any items, any badges. Definitely fun to mess around with back in the day.

Yep, and it's not just the US. I don't see Daigo pulling a major win over Infiltration if he continues to stick with Ryu.

I swear, everyone just needs a secondary character. Like me choosing Makoto and then playing Cammy for my matchups I don't like.

Unfortunately Balrog is bad for both.

:(
What are the default controls?
Also this is probably a pain for people with Sticks.

I don't think it's that big of a deal since it's just a demo. Kind of an odd decision though. Actually there's no instructions at all, not even the standard "picture of a controller that shows you what the buttons do." So this is just what I found from mashing buttons.

X = light
Y = medium
A = heavy
B = special/gimmick
RT = press for EX moves

LB = throw (or light + heavy)
RB = interact with background
RT + LT = super

I don't know how you initiate that wager thing.

It does have the whole move list and frame data though for the demo characters.

Internationals will run a train on Americans in SF4. FChamp would be more interested in defending his turf from ChrisG. ChrisG has never won a tournament in the West Coast, this could possibly be his first one. This is the final roadblock to ChrisG's road to EVO 2013, if he wins Norcal he has the highest chance of winning EVO so a win here is very important to him.

Actually curious to see what happens in SFxT though. I think Infiltration will adapt but I hope Setholol has some match up tricks up his sleeve because that Rolento/Law match up wasn't looking too pretty for him and his Kuma did the work for him and mostly because of lack of match up knowledge (he was constantly getting hit by crouch stance lows).
