Fighting Games Weekly | April 1-7 | And after 0-3, he has risen

The lack of color is Nolan's fault.

Injustice isn't a comic book game, it's a comic book movie game. Also accounts for busy non-spadex outfits.

I played the Injustice demo all morning. I still have major problems with the animation overall. Jumping looks bad to me.

Liked the move sets though. Can't wait to get my copy and play through the SP stuff and go through all the characters move sets.

I really like the stage interaction moves though!

The stage and item stuff is dope. The moveset specials looks interesting. Its the engine that bothers me. Antiairs and jumps look goofy, the characters look so stiff and upright.

It's an art decision, no more, no less.

MvC doesn't need to explain it, and comics never do either when the plot is right. As long as the impact and moves are cool enough, the player doesn't care either.

Yeah, I just kind of remembered the initial PR is all. It was probably damage control anyway.

The falling to the ground animations all look SO BAD. They look straight up Looney Tunes.

The soft knockdowns aren't so bad, but the bouncing on the hard knockdowns is really jerky. A softer fall on the second bounce would be nice, but I guess it'd be harder to read the impact.

That's a good way of describing it.

If this gets a next-gen sequel, it badly needs to move away from the MK9 styling.

The good thing is that this is looking like a big leap forward for NRS, gameplay-wise, and a huge leap forward for the genre with the inclusion of Frame Data in training modes.

Like i said, Injustice character animations are stiff because it seems like the character only moves the limbs it needs.

a kick? just move the leg, fuck the rest of the body!

WTF I've never seen that art of Wonder Woman, she has the upper torso of a man. Is all the female art like that? I saw the one character people kept posting that has the face of a man, but I thought that was like an outlier or something.

HAHAHAHAHAAH, no Enzo, she is THAT ugly
And man, I try to not hate on games, but man....I can't stand this game, I downloaded it now and it's UGLY, maaaaan, UGLY is too little to describe how Wonder Woman is. And the game feels so slow, it's like each character has rocks glued to their shoes...

hah. It totally seems that way. WW is just weird. Has an air dash. barely has a walking animation.

She suppose to be brolic though

I know, but something about the muscles that connect the neck and shoulders (don't know their names) makes her upper torso look manlier than her comic depictions. It just looks way more cut and stands out.

The proportions are fucked up, but since it's going for a realistic look, the contrast is really noticeable and looks bad.

NetherRealm is shit.

The sky is blue.

We should really be used to things like this by now.

I m very salty tonight. I came second at an Injustice preview. I got a free copy of the game but first place got tonnes of cool stuff.

Help me hold my L, GAF. :(

The real achilles heel of 3D. Realism+weird proportions can really blow up in people's faces. Makes me appreciate 2D(that and Cel shading) art more. You can get away with really stylized stuff in that realm.
Wider variety of configuration, folks who don't update graphics drivers, higher performance requirements.

Skullgirls would run on a 10-yr old laptop. A 4-yr old laptop struggles with SFIV.

And Japanese devs are deathly afraid of piracy- I get the impression most of them would rather lose sales than risk any piracy. SNK going under might have really scared some of them. I'm just hoping the KOF to Steam rumors have truth, but I suspect if it happens it won't be because SNKP wishes it.
Most of that is somewhat true, but a problem that all devs have to deal with. The PC ports keep coming so they must be making something for these publishers with their razor thin business models. I don't know about Skullgirls running on a ten year old laptop, though .Maybe a little less hyperbole?
As for the fear of piracy, it is to be expected from the Japanese devs/pubs, the platform is still largely alien to them so I'm not surprised that their views on it are still stuck somewhere in 2006. I'm glad that Capcom of all people are on it in a pretty significant way at least.
Yeah... they need to try harder. At this point it feels like we'll get a Steamworks fighting game because MS stopped trying with GFWL, not because Capcom smartened up. We'll see what their intentions are in the next three years or so.

Is there some high level play of the game yet? Also when is FChamp going to go in on the game? He was talking some mad shit about being godly at the game and beating all the MK guys. Seems like people should try to get good with the basic mechanics in the demo so they can get an upper hand when the full game comes.. that is if they plan to take the game seriously.

Including the frame data in the move lists is something all fighting games should have done a long time ago. I thought MK9 was decent, but I could never get used to the buffering. Injustice lets you turn the negative edge off which is supposed to help with the buffering, so I'll probably give this game a look.

The game doesn't look amazing, but I haven't seen all of the stages and characters yet. I've seen far worse-looking fighters though, so it probably won't bother me.

It does not play like MK9. It is much more Capcom-like.

The strings are exactly the same. You have to commit to them completely. Holding back to block, and no auto cross ups are the biggest changes. Ya, it is different, but if you played mk9, it will feel very similar.

Also, Batman seems like the best character in the demo. Has was looks like + frames after a 30-40% combo that brings him right next to you for easy mixup potential.

Yea the modelling is not the best

But the design direction is on point. I hate it when I see "super model" Dianas in comics. Her body type is suppose to be above athletic.
