Ken's hella buff but he's not cry worthy or anything. Seeing all of these buttons and that walk speed is a trip though.

Ken's c.mk is ridic

And ex air tatsu looks like fucking ass if you try and use it like we have since vanilla, but it looks like a sick non crossup wakeup move and seems to have more priority in air now.

Ken for secret top tier.

Secret? lol he has been like the most bitched about character on srk's ultra rebalance thread for the last six months.

I think Ken looks good but does he look Akuma good? Hard to say.

He was nearly as good as Akuma in AE, heck because of Yun and Yang he pretty much was better in the overall meta and that was shown by arcade data for high ranked players (4th most grandmasters after the hk trio). Ignoring the changes to dps Ultra Ken is clearly better than AE Ken, can't say the same for Akuma.

And away we go...

I was trying to hype this up over 2 months ago.

My focus was about characters like Viper and Yun who can safely spam their normal x special over and over until it hits and easily confirm into EX red focus and then Ultra or whatever. They're the ones that will really benefit from red focus.

IMO if you can't get EX red focus out by at least the 3rd hit, it's not worth it as it will scale too much. So if Akuma players can do demon flip dive kick straight into fierce > EX RF > U1, that's good damage. If they have to sneak in a cr. LP, I don't think it's worth it unless your opponent is close to death.

it's because you can use the lines in the stage to judge distances.

I know, that's the part I don't like. People should have to judge by feel, not rote.

I guess it's where I have this vision of fighitng games that it should be about reads and mix-ups, not set play. I don't like situations in fighting games where there's one valid decision and it's obvious once you've played enough.

I now sound like an advertisement for VF and Love Max.

That's Marvel.

Pretty sure you did this on PC(people have bad rigs) and PS3 for AE. Dunno if it actually matters on 360 but people do it there too. I know some stages on 360 lag harder online though, so training stage is a safe pick in that regard.

I can't think of a technical reason why a stage should affect netcode.

I can't either, but every fighting game I play has some stages that are more/less laggy. I have no idea why but it's consistent. Volcano stage is notorious for frame issues and lag.

AFAIK, the key to keeping netcode in sync between both players is that each system needs to know what inputs the other player sent and on what frames.

If the other player's game is slowing down due to performance issues, and if the game is coded in such a way that game speed is tied to frame rate and frames can't be skipped (i.e. locked 60fps; this might be the key part as to how this problem actually manifests), then this is going to add a delay to the process and either cause more severe rollbacks or whatever problems arise from games that don't use rollbacks.

Red focus cancel is the definitely the mechanic that has me most excited right now, it opens up so many new combo options. It also lets characters like sim and dictator have much more damaging punishes. I wonder if any character has a focus cancellable overhead.

They nerfed his wakeup safety slightly though, now he cannot focus cancel the 2nd hit of a blocked heavy SRK. The 2nd hit confirm was such a safety net for me as a career Ken flowcharter.

Now without Sako-like reactions, I will automatically burn the meter stock.

In a different way Ken still has it and he probably has it the best when it comes to making his DP safe. In order to make DP safe almost everybody has to blow 3 bars by starting with their EX DP. But unless they have Ultra stocked, they won't get much if any follow up damage.

Ken can always do Fierce DP > EX red focus if he has 3 bars to spare. If it hits and he has Ultra, 440+ damage. If it hits and has no Ultra, cl. HK > HK tatsu for 327 damage. Or it doesn't hit and you can confirm it to dash back or dash forward to be at -2. Pretty good options compared to everybody else who can probably only tack on another 100 damage without Ultra.

Ah, ok, and I can see that being a problem on some PC setups, but I have never heard anything about SF4 PS3 beyond the extra frame of inherent input lag until now.

tekken players boycotted themselves out of NCR this year.

Haven't been keeping up with FGC drama, but what's the story behind this?

Bronson and company just got stupid? Kindea still runs NCR (With Choi help in the back right?).

I don't see how you go against Choi, even if it's Kindea running things you know Choi still helping out. They couldn't work something out?

Tekken was run on a Friday last year and a bunch of people didn't travel because they couldn't get time off. Might've been some other drama involved but I think this was the main one

Oh I see... well that what happens when A) people don't show up and B) people don't pre register.

Knowing this community, I'm going to safely assume B.
