The thing about streaming minor events is that very often it's more trouble than it's worth. Streams make events run later than intended due to the desire stream as many matches as possible. Furthermore, for events holding tournaments for multiple games, pretty much every game is going to want its turn on the stream station. This only leads to communities getting pissed off when they are told to wait until after Marvel finishes or to go play winners finals off-stream. And very often, the amount of viewers that tune in are minuscule since the guy streaming it isn't Sp00ky or Sabin, and nobody's going to tune in to watch players from Indiana apart from their friends.

That having been said, seeing as StrongStyle is a Tekken-only event, I think it's a mistake to not stream it, especially since they've reportedly had people offer to do it. I do understand why they would not want a stream, though, since they can be a hassle.

@Karsticles

+1 on the Dormammu love. I didn't even know who he was until MvC3 and instantly fell in love with his character design. I also think his lvl3 is among the best looking hypers in the series.

first time I saw it my jaw hit the floor.
welcome... to my realm

Dormammu is the reason I learned to play Marvel.

Online is alright but there's a nasty ass slow motion glitch where the gameplay will just turn slo-mo out of nowhere no matter the rig and you had to do some really dumb stuff to fix it, unless they patched it by now

I'm watching the Topanga thing and the google translation of the comments are cracking me up.

Guys I did it, I bought an Xbox One for KI. Probably a bad decision but I don't care. I played Orchid at PAX and it made me want the game for real.

Some USF4 from Nico Nico

Part 1
Part 2

THAT AUTOCORRECT ULTRA FROM GUILE LOOKS FUCKING STUPID SMH.

y can't deejay

SOMEONE CHOSE DEEJAY

The buff to Guile's U1 is baffling. It should either always auto correct or 5 frame start up not both. Right now once Guile gets U1, it forces opponent to either fight him on the ground or resort to set play (safe jump after throw, sweep, etc) both of which are a lose-lose situation due to Guile's superior ground game and delay wake up in Ultra.

I wouldn't be surprise if Guile becomes the new Cammy in USF4.

I thought the 5 frame start up was nerfed.

Flash Explosion (UC1) start-up reduced from 7F to 5F; damage reduced from 510 to 450; during activation, if opponent is behind, corrects to face the opponent; 2nd Flash Kick start-up now slower, less likely to whiff on high air opponents on hit; invincibility time reduced from 1-10F to 1-6F

It's still there + making the 2nd hit slower means, it will almost never whiff. 5 Frame start up means he can now punish a lot of stuff with U1 now, too

Watching now the Yang vs Yun match from the Nico stream, and at 8:20, Yun does st.strong + shoulder xx ex red focus into U1 and it did like 45% of Yangs life! Damn...Yang looks sick tho, with his new walk speed and shit

I bet a lot of characters will have major 3-bar combos like this

More Ultra info from PAX East USF4 Stream from yesterday:

• Poison has plenty of tools in USF4. Her cr. LP is fast and can combo into HP. She also has great range on her medium kicks. She's dangerous up close, but also has the ability to zone.

• Her EX Rekka launches the opponent after the final hit and is jump cancel-able. This leads into tricky mix ups, much like Sakura's EX Tatsu mix ups.

• LP version of Poison's fireball travels the entire length of the screen. HP only travels about 1/3 of the screen.

• Poison's Ultra 1 is a projectile Ultra that goes into animation when it connects.

• Rolento has great pressure with st.LP, and can convert into cr. MK for a Rekka combo.

• His Ultra 2 hits from almost fullscreen, is projectile invincible, and has fast start up.

• Rolento has long range attacks due to his stick. Focus Attack has quite a bit of range.

• Red Focus can absorb any number of hits. It also builds your Ultra meter twice as fast as a regular Focus Attack does.

• Poison's first hit of rekka is fairly safe on block because of its pushback.

• Elena is a new incarnation of herself. She has lows that go into combos, and mid attacks that hit you when you're blocking low. She's very tricky and has high/low mixups.

• Elena's backdash is really fast. She also has a very "floaty" jump.

• Her EX Overhead attack is very fast and can be combo-ed after. Her slide has great range and can go under projectiles.

• Yun has more damage on all core combo buttons. Standing and crouching MP damage increased.

• Originally, Capcom added +1 more frame of hitstun to Vega's cr. LP, making his cr. LP into cr. MP combo a 2 frame link. After location tests and feedback, it was reverted.

• Vega's Rolling Crystal Flash is a bit more advantageous.

• His mask pick up is now a manual input, instead of him automatically picking it up when walking over it. Super now hits on the way up to the wall.

• St. HK on Adon is still a 2-hit attack, even though it was originally a 1-hit attack in USF4.

• Chip damage has been reduced and air-to-air jaguar kick damage has been reduced.

• He has more damage output in the corner. Can get a follow up LK Jaguar Kick in some situations.

• Because of delayed wake up, characters like Adon and Vega will have more of an advantage in this version due to their heavy footsie tools.

• T. Hawk is "definitely a character to watch in USF4." This time around he has many more tools. Walk speed is slightly faster, EX Condor Spire has increased range and can combo easier, etc.

• He also has tools that give him more damage output. Close. st. MP pushes back less on hit in USF4, allowing for bigger combos.

• Ken is also better in USF4. His cr. HK start up is now faster. Close st. MK hits all characters when crouching now. F+HK is now 0 on block. EX air Hurricane on the way up will keep Ken in place, making it so he can't escape so easily.

• Sakura's back throw doesn't send the opponent flying as far as it used to. Her EX Sakura Otoshi has quicker starup. Jump in HP was nerfed. EX Tatsu doesn't go over small characters anymore when they're crouching.

• Cammy is still going to be really good in USF4, but her EX Dive Kicks don't leave her at such an advantage.

• Evil Ryu is getting better in USF4 as well. More health, better range on attacks -- overall he's improved.

• Ryu now has more opportunities to land U2. He can combo into the full animation in more ways. His cr. mk into fireball is now a true blockstring.

• Dhalsim's damage output has increased slightly in USF4. He can get in and do damage, and players won't have to struggle so much to get a win.

• Dee Jay has received significant buffs in order to raise him up out of the bottom 5 characters. He didn't have a "get off me" move previously, and now he has one (EX Machine Gun Upper).

• Ultra 2 can now be used in more scenarios. EX MGU launches the opponent higher, allowing Dee Jay players to hit the dash forward, U2 a bit easier.

• Blanka's cr. MK has more hitstun, making his combo into U1 easier. He now has more combo possibilities with Red Focus. (first hit of HP Rolling Ball can be Red Focused for a crumple.)

Wait, so what's the damage scaling like when it comes to red focus?
Any landed focus counts as two attacks for scaling purposes.

In SF4 it's

100 - 100 - 80 - 70 - 60 - 50 - 40 - etc

So if you land a focus for the second attack in a combo, it will scale 80% not 100%.

Two tournaments coming up in the next two weeks and I have almost zero inclination to practice for either of them.

Picking up FFXIV was a huge mistake.

Hit me up if you're on Diabolos.

I wanna know what change makes Combofiend thinks that. Ok, he has slightly more damage, but is it easier for him to get in? I don't think so

Can't he combo with his U1 after ex red focus?

So what happened at Civil War (and other things over the weekend)?
Ricky won AE in Civil War, RayRay won UMVC3. Debate ensued over majors as always.

PRRog got bodied in Topanga, only won two sets and complained about his character. PRRog then vented by playing Nemo in a FT15 exhibition (UMVC3). Super close set, went to deuce and PRRog squeeked out the win. Nemo got salty over Vergil when he didn't snap the character in once over 30 games.

Daigo won Topanga (hence the title), Xiao Hai got 2nd.

There was a PAX East tourney as well and a USF4 location test. Justin won that so it was a double Rufus/EG win over the weekend.

Some tournament in Norcal. Marn vs Apologyman FT7, Apologyman zipped his ass up easily.

ChrisG won AE and Marvel in a Latin American tournament.

If you're a fan of that "The Smash Brothers" documentary that was released last October by Travis Beauchamp aka Samox then you should definitely check this out.

It's a Kickstarter for a full 2 hour movie documentary that will be released on Netflix about Armada, Mango's rivalry with Armada, and the rise of Dr. PeePee. Like I said, if you were a fan of "The Smash Brothers" documentary then you should consider pledging to the Kickstarter.

If you haven't seen the amazing documentary about the competitive scene of Super Smash Bros. Melee (which is technically the game that gave birth to the scene, not Smash 64) then you should go to www.youtube.com/eastpointpictures to watch the full 4 and a half hour documentary (preferably the Remastered version). It's really a great series and gives you a lot of backstory and insight into the players that made Melee what it is today (and some of which who still compete).
