It seems to be a common thing with Tekken players going at it with Marvel players. I see it all the time.

Also, Akitaka Tohyama making more Tekken music.

If you haven't listened to his previous best entries.

Moonlit Wilderness

Electric Fountain
Abyss of Time (REACH 0:51 time mark to be enthralled)
Tulip Festival

Intro Massive Mix

Everything this guy makes is gold.

You can skip 1 and 2 if you want, but they provide their own unique challenge, the combat is A LOT more simple though.

The way I look at it the Ys series teaches you things as it progresses.

Ys 1 teaches you ground movement and avoiding shit

Ys 2 teaches you how to use Magic

Ys Oath teaches you avoiding things in a 3d environment and Manual attacking

Ys Orgin is an extension of what is taught in Oath but now there are multiple characters with different play styles

Ys Seven removes 3d movement for dodges and parrying and now introduces party mechanics

Ys Celceta Limits the functions of your parry and powers up your dodge a bit making you alter between the two more often for which situation fits better still has party mechanics

With what you have on hand I'd say start with Oath then go to Orgin

Niiiice. Will be playing Oath tomorrow. Gameplay looks real good.

Tekken is love, Tekken is life. I love Tag 2 but losing to a hopkick on the last round of a game is worse than eating a million wakeup ultras. If there are any west coast Tekken players here Id love to add them, I really need character experience for my Bruce and Armor King.

Start on Nightmare, every other setting is for babies :p

The attack and defense stat mean a TON in the Ys games, so if you are having trouble on a boss and you feel like you are not doing enough damage to them or you are taking too much damage grind out a level if you have too. The game actually limits how much exp you can get from monsters that are lower level than you so when you stop actually getting decent exp that's a good time to move on.

Yeah, there is a lot of ignorance regarding Tekken on FGC's GAF threads to be honest.

Well Marvel players don't have jobs, so they've got nothing but free time to discuss games. Meanwhile, Tekken players are contributing to society which means they don't have time to play every game under the sun.

That's the thing. It seems Tekken players are actually playing more games than Marvel players. Aris, Rip, Rickstah, all of those guys play a ton of regular games but Rayray likes shaking his booty in some club.

I think the hardest part for me in DS was always figuring out where the fuck to go the first time. Second time around the game was pretty easy because I knew where to go.

Combat wise I had problems on just two bosses... Capra demon and S&O.

Capra demon I had problems with because I was really new to the game and had no idea about the mechanics. I didn't know that heavy armor meant you actually moved slower. I also didn't know that putting points in Endurance gave you more Stamina which also allowed you to block stronger attacks. I had so many deaths against that boss because I could not maneuver/block his opening attack during the spawn (I was doing a fat ass roll so he would always hit me and my Endurance was low so whatever he hit me with just one shotted me).

S&O I didn't have that much problem overall but first few times I tried to kill them simultaneously because I had trained myself to do that in DMC3 because of A&R. It took me many times to realize that I was not supposed to do that in this game and when I figured out my optimal order I was able to beat them (I mostly did it because I figured out a blind spot in Big Ornstein).
I am just playing through DaS now, and S&O kicked my ass for a while because everyone said to focus on the fast one. Once I went for the fat one, everything went fine. Then again I use Dragon Tooth with cloth armor and no shield or magic. Most strategies don't apply to me.

That was nothing compared to going through Blighttown while cursed...

Is it?

One of the most prominent Marvel players theorycrafters here is Dahbomb and he's always been a big Tekken fan too.

That's why you see DB argue with himself. Or he thinks he's arguing with someone but it's with himself.

But no I'm not talking about GAF.

In the west. VF in Japan is bigger than Skullgirls in America.

VF is my love. Still have my Saturn and VF2. VF4EVO has the greatest feature set.

I know about Japan VF (I love their tournaments with like 6 streams going at once), I was throwing a jab back.

I actually have no qualms with the SG tourney scene but am secretly jealous of its enormous non-competitive fanbase

my buddy mcpeanuts loves that game and went to SCR to play it. we both flew across USA to place 5th

I guess ironically the #1 reason I hear people say they don't wanna play SG (the art) is also its foundation for a big fanbase that just likes the characters. VF doesn't have that

Maybe it's because I love old kung fu flicks and martial arts movie but the characters and the animation work is what draws me in every iteration. VF looks so incredibly beautiful in motion, especially when played well.
