I don't know why people had a shitfit about the SFxT dlc stuff. DLC on disc isn't anything new.
I dunno, Megaman and Pac-man being on the 360 disc but not playable or unlockable is pretty fucked up and shady. Also, buying anything that could even potentially give you a competitive advantage is terrible, be it gems in SFxTK or characters in MvC3.

Otherwise, yeah people get stingy over how their DLC is delivered despite it being made the same way beforehand and cut from the final product to squeeze more money out of the consumer.

Their Dio and young Joseph are gonna be worse than the Capcom version, but I'm super pumped for Jolyne and Giorno. My real favorite character is Weather Report, but no news on him yet.

Dio is already better than the Capcom version because he has his jacket on. And he hits people with the sign. No sign of Stingy Eyes so far is disappointing though. My favorite thing to do in the Capcom fighter is just spam that.

Weather Report is a stage hazard in Green Dolphin Yard. He makes the frogs rain (it's in the new trailer). But as a character he would be cool, level 3, turn you into a snail.

He's actually on the stage? I didn't see him. That sucks :-(

Capcom's Dio is the most fun character in any fighting game, so I can't see Namco beating that. And Dio has the jacket in the Capcom game.

I don't think disc-locked content had a huge impact on "fighting game fans'" opinions after it came out, and hurt it's appeal to casuals much more.

Real talk I still consider picking it up from time to time just because I can customize colours and play 4 player splitscreen with my little cousins. I could care less about the rest of the game.

Nah, I was seeing the same thing on SRK as I was here and elsewhere, except it seems the FGC realized DLC is DLC no matter where it is.

Capcom should've just reduced the damaged scaling and up the walkspeed overall for the game as a band-aid solution until they could fix it, instead they decide to tweak everything at once which makes me question their competance (as if they needed it).

This still pisses me off greatly.

If SFxT didn't have disc locked content, I wonder what the real verdict on it would be.

Disc locked content only affected the casuals. SFxT was extremely well received and hyped in the FGC early on, but all those hype died after NCR. Not having DLC wouldn't change the fact that the game isn't very fun.

Hakan is such a fucking cool character.

I hope they include him in every Street Fighter game made from this day forward.

Ono did the SF series good with SFIV for the great character designs we got out of it alone, bar AEs additions. EDIT: and Rufus oh god kill it with fire

Viper is horrible from her inception, to her appearance, to her game play. For a SF character.

I'd have no problem with her as a SNK character or Marvel character.

Hakan is a pretty cool guy, eh is bottom tier and wins majors.

I also hate Viper.

Hakan and Juri were great designs

Abel was pretty good

Fuerte was good idea, meh execution (RSF is just stupid)

Viper was a cool design but boring gameplaywise

Rufus is just boring period, but more fun to play against at least than the 3S characters (Makoto excepted, she's fun to play/play against)

btw, every time someone says "Hakan sucks" they're really saying "I don't know shit about Hakan."

Damn it. Tekken is not that hard. I gave the series a break after T5 and went back into with T6 forgetting literally everything. It was a fresh new experience for me. Started off sucking real badly and in a few months, I was doing pretty well.

There are like 80 different mechanics and little things you have to be mindful of, caveats to pretty much everything, and every character has like a million different options and ways to mix up their strings. I don't see how Tekken doesn't have a very steep learning curve compared to most other fighting games.

There are 80 different moves but realistically you only will be using less than 10 of them. Most of the learning curve in the Tekken game comes from learning about the derp moves each character have and how to beat them, the actual mechanics of the game is a lot simpler than something like the VF games. The flow of each match is an extremely predictable "I attack, then you attack, then I attack again" and there's less emphasis on things like positioning, because usually on 1 hit you'll be sent to the wall and turned into a punching bag.

Why? She can zone, she can cross-up and she can DP. I'd agree she has too many options overall, but that's not too big of a deal considering the execution barrier.

What makes C.Viper a "horrible" fit for a Street Fighter game after 25 years and countless iterations? Genuine question.

I like Viper's design, seems fine to me and plus she follows the common concept in SF character design of having wacko hair.

At any rate, here are nearly 2 hours of SF3 3S matches featuring Elena vs. Alex, Ryu and Makoto:

Movement is by far the single most important thing in Tekken. If your opponent can't even touch you it doesn't matter how little you know about his character.

You don't actually use 80 moves in a match, when you pick a character part of learning the character is weeding out the less useful moves until you have like 20-ish moves that are your bread and butter. Ignore strings that are too long, they are easy to counter. Learning fundamentals is way more important, you have to learn spacing whiff punishing, side stepping, when to low parry/block or duck/reversal, poking (which is a majority of good Tekken play), mixing up mid/lows and throws and finally how to wake up and how to beat certain wake up options.

In what game is movement not the most important thing when it needs to be good before you even land a hit and have a chance to do damage?

That's oversimplification of what he is saying. Think about how you should approach matchups as a tournament player.

1) Learn all the ins and outs of each opposing character, or
2) Make your own movement and strategy so good that it doesn't matter which character you face.

The moment he said what he said I thought of Jwong.
