Well, as you're the second person to say this, so maybe it was a more common problem. "not being hype enough", get out of here that's not a genuine reason imo. Seemed like people just wanted to hate him to hate him.

I could understand if he was doing something seriously wrong, but if he was messing up a majority of his analysis I could see the hate. I'd be a little ticked at that was well, if he was messing it up extremely frequently. He would just need a break to read up on things a bit more and practice, but nothing like public . If he did get gootecks in trouble, I could also see G and his fans having a grudge against him, and that's understandable.

Commentating isn't just about informing the audience, one also has to make the match look interesting. This goes for any type commentating.

DK's more fun in Melee and even Brawl. :p Upthrow stuff is tons of fun.

Project M DK is pure bliss.

I usually used Pikachu in 64, Marth/Ness/Pikachu/Mario in Melee, Pikachu/Lucas in Brawl.

Yeah, problem is you can't force the hype. It just happens

The Lee Chungs of commentary try to create hype off of everything. OH DAT JAB. STOP IT BEHAVE YOSELF! isn't hype, and it's not informing the audience of anything. It's just trying to get Broken Tier shirts like Yipes

I think the commentary team for KOF (Hellpockets and I forget who else) do it perfectly. They're informative, they know how to add to the hype and they know that you don't have to talk all the time.

Too many people either feel they have to talk, or love their own voice so much that they don't shut up.

Have you seen the matches hype matches that Ski commentated? I remember many matches that were hype but were dulled by Ski's commentary.

pretty much. i remember when fchamp started his beef with diosx and suddenly every time he was on stream you would see people insulting him and calling him the names fchamp came up with.

because people probably joined the community in in the past 2-3 years, so when they come across old highlights (like the Daigo parry, Cyclops comeback, etc) they think that's how commentary needs to be for every match

I'm ashamed to say it, but I was one of those bandwagoners. There was no malice involved - I just really like pelicans - but I'm as petty as any base stream monster.

Considering that neither the Daigo Parry video nor the Justin Cyclops moment had that much commentary in it, I find that hard to believe.

And Skisonic doesn't get "hyped"? Son please...

Yeah, I agree, some people are just really in the zone some days and just train wreck people. Heck I was able to get matches off of Moonz and Rayray but they made it pretty far at many tournaments. I hope the FGC will evolve Marvel a bit more and up the level like Marvel 2, but with more characters and easier entries for newer players.

This might be the first year I go to SCR and not NCR even though I live in NorCal. Sacramento is a toilet.

Also, to my knowledge most NorCal players are Bay Area-based, so I'm not sure why this seemed like a good move unless there was just a dearth of suitable/affordable venues in the Bay Area, which is entirely possible.
