It's going to be a Denver and San Fran Super Bowl.
I'm late to this reply, but that sounds great. I liked Aris' SCII vids too, and this would help me get the hang of talking about matches. I'll let you know if I end up giving this a shot.I'm late to the conversation, but:
Perhaps you could do post-match analysis, highlighting particular moments of a match and explaining why this player did what he did and how you should incorporate it into your game.
Aris has done something recently for some old Soul Calibur 2 Nationals matches, and I am very fond of them. When it comes to commentary, I prefer this type more than live commentary. I need to watch more of it, how many folks do those types of videos with that type of commentary? Doesn't UltraChen do that? I don't watch UltraChen, which is why I ask(sorry, UltraDavid. I'll make it up to you by watching archives, I can rarely catch streams live).
Let's go 49ers!
Yeah, Melee is not much faster if you take away all those "advanced techniques". Competitively those will never go away so of course yes in reality it is faster. You can't possibly expect those glitches to come back in Smash 4 though, right? I mean maybe Sakurai will throw these Melee fans a bone but I wouldn't bet on it. Then what? Fragment the community again and still keep playing Melee? I know many players would say yes but I frankly find that sad. The game is already 11+ years old and it is going to continue to age. At some point you have to let go and adapt to what the series has evolved into.
Like I said before, the fragmentation it has caused this go around has led to Smash becoming a very insular community. Maybe y'all are happy with the (by other fighter standards) low player turnout and low amount of viewers you get on a regular basis on streams (which as far as I can tell is sub-200 almost always, ie, frankly laughable). Maybe you just don't care how popular the game is or isn't and are content with playing the same people again and again for literally decades.
Part of what is great about (at least other) Fighting games though is the constant influx of new players which leads to new tech, and new enjoyment as both a viewer, and I am sure, for the players as well.
You forgot the terribad netcode.that is one of the reasons why i think people are a little excited for smash 4 too soon.
that dev team is never going to release a game you like if you like fighting games or melee.
the game is going to be brawl 2. they arent going to revisit it or patch it. shit will be wonky and just not get fixed. the game as it comes from the developer in this case is hella limited
however, once the project m guys get their hands on the game...thats when the fun begins
Probably the same idiot who thought tripping was a good idea.My kingdom for more fuckin' uncancallable hitsun...
who the fuck thought almost instantly cancelling hitstun with the air dodge was a good idea
fire that nigga
Honestly all I'd want from Smash 4 is just more hitstun and better mobility. I'm never expecting another melee to happen, but I do want at least a fun game I can play competitively casually. Brawl didn't even do that for me on that level.
yeah thats how i feel too. melee and mvc2 actually share a lot in terms of development cycles and lifespan/evolution. one was the console side one was arcade...a lot of what made those games great were 100% accidents too...
it would be silly expecting TRUE sequels to a game like that. i think mvc3 overall did a good job (just wish it didnt end the way it did)....brawl however, added castmembers that would have been interesting but the game was just not competitive at all. its quite awful to try to play it with that mindset.
i just hope smash players get something they can work with. they deserve it.
real as fuck
sakurai is a fucking modern japanese man. mamas boy to a fault/ cant cook or do shit for himself/ doesnt fuck his wiife/ spends thousands of dollars on anime figures and wants to ignore real world concepts to create shit where "everyone wins"
Probably the same idiot who thought tripping was a good idea.
Unfortunately that idiot is still making the game.
yeah but while everyone loves to complain about MvC3 here, at least it was a decent enough sequel
Brawl? LOL

I haven't played much of Brawl but from the way people hate on it is no where the level of NG2. Some people actually like NG2 better than NGB. The drop in quality isn't as high as Brawl. NG2 is a damn good action game where as it's hard to qualify Brawl as a fighting game.I think its a tie between Brawl and NG2 for my most disappointing game of the generation. Came out the same year too...fuck '08

biggest disappointments.
doesnt jojos asb count for this as well? the game was pretty much a fanboy cashgrab (and it worked) but the core game itself was actually quite terrible
sonic 06 is almost so bad its actually good. i think i like sonic 06 more than brawl...
it's kinda funny how much contempt sakurai has for the pro smash community. nintendo really needs the next smash to become big competitively so they can sell consoles and games but i bet sakurai will have none of it and will do things to stop it from happening. you either play it casually or not at all!
It more than likely qualifies but I was never a Jojo's fan myself to comment.doesnt jojos asb count for this as well? the game was pretty much a fanboy cashgrab (and it worked) but the core game itself was actually quite terrible

It was really, really easy to ignore everything Sonic-related in the wake of Shadow's game, no matter how much of a fan you were beforehand.and truth be told, as a Sonic fan, I didn't even play Sonic 2006. I just heard it was a giant pile of garbage and went about my day
Jojos asb is fan service the game. If you were expecting a sequel to the Capcom Jojos games then The devs themselves will tell you that you were looking in the wrong place.
The biggest disappointment for me this last is most modern game design and development trends. Namely developers like Capcom, Square, Sega, and Konami putting out derivative triple A games and making shitty mobile games and ports for cash.
Japanese console and high end game development as a whole has been mostly shit this gen. Most started off well but after their major titles got lukewarm reception they failed to recover (Konami after MGS4, SE after FFXIII and Capcom after RE6).The biggest disappointment for me this last is most modern game design and development trends. I've never seen an avatar fit so well. Tommy ain't scared of shit!real as fuck

only a "man" who lives in that fictional world would intentionally spit in the faces of all the people who supported his game and played its shit long after its due.
This was the worst when people brought it up regarding smash and evo a few months ago. I'm not wasting my time on an inferior game that is not fun to play. Melee>Brawl now and forever. If the next Smash is fun I'll play it even if it is inferior to Melee. You know something's wrong when someone's essentially arguing that people should drop the game they enjoy in favor of the newer installment in the series even if they don't like it because stream monsters and looking good compared to other communities are the priority now.
Expansion at all costs isn't desirable.
*BrawlI think my personal top 5 biggest disappointments of this generation are:
*Aliens Colonial Marines
*Sim City
*Diablo 3 (launch, current version and RoS are pretty solid if still not close to D2:LoD)
*GTA4
*Resident Evil franchise as a whole
It more than likely qualifies but I was never a Jojo's fan myself to comment.
I remember the days when Super Bowl Teams would make their respective music videos. Super Bowl Shuffle da bess!
Also, Pre-Apex stuff on 8WAYRUN.
It all counts.I don't think stuff like "no HL3" counts.
If that's the case then no UMVC3 patch is probably my biggest disappointment of this gen.
