Fighting Games Weekly | July 1-7 | Heel turns, shattered dreams, broken cages

Any idea of how the tier list is shaping up currently? Just curious.
S: Taokaka, Hazama, Hakumen, Jin, Litchi
A+: Mu, Azrael, Valkenhayn, Relius
A: Ragna, Carl, Arakune, Rachel, Tsubaki, Bang, Platinum, Nu
B: Izayoi, Noel, Bullet, Tager, Amane, Makoto

Personally I say mak and noel are in A though, Izayoi as well.

The problem with those 3 is like tao they take a certain mindset to play really good but they are not as strong as tao

So what's the deal if Champ shows up to evo and loses without incident, and it turns out (predictably) that there was never any secret tech, he's just been mediocre ever since he won last year? I'm having a hard time imaging some sort of tech that:
 1. Chris has never seen
 2. Nobody else has come up with
 3. Is better than "just play Zero"

Personally, my money is on him losing to some B-tier player in the top32 and never playing ChrisG in the tournament, whereupon people will still make the "he was sandbagging to save tech against Chris" excuse.

so apparently the story is that somebody went and had sex with noel's gf while he was at the pool party. The pool party got closed and noel drunkenly walked into them doing the deed.

Being low tier in an arcsys game doesn't mean the character sucks. But honestly the biggest problem with amane to me is that he rewards a lot of meter to his opponents if they perfect guard. So even though he chips the hell out of you, he's giving you meter to make a comeback.

This only starts to show at max level though. He literally blows up low level players and stands strong vs mid level

My take aways from CEO:

- Green Ace dabess
- The ultimate Chris G counterpick is a Playstation branded monitor
- PR Rog's Wolverine and Vergil > Life and all its mechanics
- Yipes <<<<<<<<<< some big bodies

Man I was actually feeling bad for Chris G until that monitor complaint, you can't write stuff that preposterous.

Monitor was overclocked so the cooling wasn't sufficient enough. Maybe at evo they will have vapochill to keep the monitors cool to prevent them from slowing down.

God damnit Chris G. I loved you in injustice today, but that monitor shit was down right sad.

I see Tager is still repping the floor. It's sad down here.

Hahaha wtf. Rayray boned Noel's girl. Where's OBS when you need it
OBS to tackle the dilemma that has troubled human males since the beginning of time: to smash [another mans girl] or not to smash?

Tune in Tuesdays at 10PM EDT to see!

Alcohol is the spawn of the devil. Kids, don't drink. Also do not smash unless its like a celebrity or something.

Isn't rayray coming to FGTV?
Yeah FChamp had a fundraiser to get him and Moons to fly out to FGTV house before EVO. Don't know when that's happening exactly, but it's soon.

surprised vxg posted something publicly, couldn't they have just done that silently?
I figure they may have already advertised him as commentating (IIRC they did have an ad or something in the past where they highlighted specific people they're flying out to commentate at VxG) and they put a statement out there just for legal insurance. IMO it was professionally done if that's the case.

The fact is says presentenced and $0 bond makes me think the PD down there isn't treating it like a big deal- $50 and time served?

I feel kind of sorry for anybody who has EVO points in SF4 and has a Japanese killer thrown in their pool because they have no seeding points and will receive the same treatment as any other random player who has no points. Guys like Fuudo, Daigo, Sako, Uryo, Dogura, and more will show up at EVO without a single seeding point to their name.

In a game where there are killers from every part of the world, these seeding points seem rather useless when so many of them are coming over(especially from Japan) with no points. Now your points that you busted your ass to earn don't seem that important anymore because you could end up like Xian last year who won SEA Majors beating Daigo in GF's only to get Kindevu, Ryan Hart, and Filipinoman in your pool.

I was wondering what happened with Chris in SSFIV. I loved how Ultra David & James Chen brushed aside his complaint.

I'm no expert but what kind grounds did that complaint have?

I can't wait

Is there a footdive version of this yet?

4. EG|PR Balrog (Balrog)
5. MCZ|Mago (Fei Long)
5. EG|Justin Wong (Rufus)

Niiice, my man Xian.

Heel turn? If that's referring to Fanatiq, isn't it supposed to be face turn?

I don't even watch wrestling smh

Same grounds as always - he lost and doesn't want to blame himself. still 100% on never accepting losses gracefully, but then again, staying salty is kinda what keeps him at the top (doesn't get complacent)

He just won Northwest Majors.

I just think considering FChamp outside the top 5 players in this game is preposterous. There are either 5 gods who tower above everyone else or there is the one true god.

Lets take a look at NW Majors results:

1. coL|Filipino Champ (Magneto/Doctor Doom/Pheonix)
2. KaneBlueriverCL (Hulk/Haggar/Sentinel)
3. SRKUW|Darryn (Nova/Spencer/Hawkeye)
4. AC|XsK_Samurai (Magneto/Doctor Doom/Vergil, Morrigan/Doctor Doom/Vergil)
5. Doomkills (C.Viper/Doctor Doom/Amaterasu)
5. DR|BitQ (Wesker/Haggar/Magneto)
7. Ebonic Plague (Wolverine/Doctor Doom/Vergil)
7. BG|Rattana (Magneto/Doctor Doom/V9. Huey253 (Zero/Doctor Doom/Vergil)
9. Dragoomba (Super-Skrull/Dormammu/Haggar, C.Viper/Super-Skrull/Haggar)
9. HoW|ColinLuv (Magneto/Spencer/Doctor Doom)
9. Stabbotsford (Wolverine/Doctor Doom/Wesker)
13. Soup (Morrigan/Dormammu/Doctor Doom)
13. Bryan To (Zero/Dante/Vergil)
13. 1TruKing (Wolverine/Doctor Doom/Sentinel, Doctor Doom/Hawkeye/Sentinel)
13. CFD|Hi I’m Nasty (Wesker/Captain America/Super-Skrull, Captain America/Iron Man/Super-Skrull)ergil)

So basically, he beat KBR.

I'm not buying this sandbagging crap. Yipes is also "the best in casuals" but it really doesn't factor into anything. Tourney pressure is getting to Fchamp and we'll see just how bad it is at Evo.

I don't think it is pressure as such. He used his competitive advantage before evo 2012 to play more than anybody else and got ahead. After that he reached his limits and people caught up.

He can try the same thing this year but I'd expect diminishing returns unless he comes up with a crazy new team (which seems very unlikely).

Yea, a lot if successful people make sure not to dwell on their failures and concentrate on the success. That builds monster egos. In order to maintain his ego, Chris looks to blame anything other than himself.

We've seen what happens when he gets shook as well. I think at NCR or SCR a little while ago. That's the secret to beating him. Get in his head somehow, make him doubt himself. Otherwise, the EVO Marvel crown is his.

I just want to reiterate that it was a fucking joy to watch GreenAce's team over the weekend.

Hmm, is that Great Wheel re-worked to look useful now? This pleases me.

I thought Great Wheel was always good.

Looking forward to CP Litchi regardless, though.
