Rule Change for CPT. Starts immediately.
http://capcomprotour.com/rule-addition-for-capcom-pro-tour-2015-season/

Hey everyone! We hope you have all been enjoying the amazing action that we’ve seen so far on the Capcom Pro Tour 2015 season. There have been a few questions regarding the Capcom Cup qualifier spots for Premier Tournaments which we want to clear up.

The current Capcom Cup qualifying structure is as follows:

* 16 Premier Events Qualifiers

* 15 Leaderboard Qualifiers

* 1 Previous Year’s Champion

Currently, Premier Tournaments grant one automatic qualifying spot to the winner of the event. The exception to this is if the tournament winner has already qualified, in which case the qualifying spot goes to the next placer in the tournament who has not already qualified.

With top players traveling to more and more tournaments, we have seen situations like at Stunfest, where the third place finisher (in this case, Infiltration) qualifies for Capcom Cup because the top two had already previously qualified (Daigo as NCR Champion, and Momochi as Capcom Cup 2014 Champion).

We want to avoid a situation where the top 4 finishers in a Premier Tournament have already previously qualified for Capcom Cup, and the spot goes to the two competitors tied for 5th. We do not believe there is a fair way to break this tie and determine who to award the Capcom Cup spot to, so we will be implementing a new rule, effective immediately, for the rest of the season:

* In the event the top 4 or more finishers of a double elimination format Premier Tournament have already qualified for Capcom Cup, the automatic qualifying spot for that event will be eliminated. Instead, an additional qualifying spot on the leaderboard will be added.

o EXAMPLE: At the next Premier Tournament, the top 4 finishers consist of players who have already qualified for Capcom Cup. The automatic qualifying spot for that event is eliminated and another spot for the leaderboard opens up. The Capcom Cup qualifying structure now changes to:

* 16->15 Premier Events Qualifiers

* 15->16 Leaderboard Qualifiers

* 1 Previous Year’s Champion

We believe this is the fairest way to determine Capcom Cup participants and it will reward those who put in the work to accumulate points over the course of the entire year. Prize money and everything else will not be affected in any way.

Just saw it to, this actually kind of bums me out. If the situation ever happens, I thought it would be cool to have the two guys tied for 5th place to play a bonus 2/3(or 3/5) for the qualifying spot. Instead they're just eliminating a automatic spot for another spot via points.

I kind of wanted to see this happen too, but at the same time this ensures the best players getting in more so than without the rule.

A player getting in with a 5th place finish to his name and nothing else would be terrible.

I like the change more, I feel like being able to get 5th is too much based on bracket luck for it to count towards qualification, or atleast making total points a higher priority is more fair.

I was hoping we'd see the 5th place tie scenario just for the drama. The rule change makes sense though.

I still think 32 qualifiers is way too many. This year would have been a LOT more hype if there were still only 16 and those spots truly mattered even to the best of the best.

Argument can go both ways. The person in fifth place might be "better" than the 32nd seed of cpt.

I'm indifferent to the rule but I'm glad theres something official now.

No, having more spots motivates more people to give it a shot.

If there are only 16 spots, then a lot of players would get discouraged early in the year.

Also, if there were only 16 spots, it would be weighted heavily toward players who can travel more (a.k.a sponsored players). This way, great players who don't travel to EVERY event have a good chance of sliding in there.

I'm with you on this. I preferred them to keep it at 16 and instead just make the whole thing 3/5. Increasing it to 32 allows some players to get in who may not be all that great. Maybe they just traveled more or they placed high at a ranking event with few strong players. I wanted Capcom Cup to be more exclusive so that only the best of the best can make it.

V-Sync does add lag, but while playing locally, it's still the same as the input lag in the 360 version. Playing online though, because the netcode was worse than the 360 version, it's better to turn it off to remove the ~2 frames of lag it cause and make the netcode more tolerable, but then you'd have to live with the tearing... :(

nah, vsync on definitely makes it the same as the PS3/Arcade version. It's why I always miss my links when Im on a 360 setup vs PS3/PC. Turning it off makes it less than the 360 version though. DisplayLag did a whole section on the various input lags the PC version has depending on how you configure it.

Went 4-2 at my local today. Shoutouts to Onemic for making it out. Ggs man

yep ggs. Hopefully I can go to more A&C locals when I have the time.

I don't think there will be terrible players even with 32 spots because of how points are distributed this time. If Smug, Snake, and Dieminion traveled to US ranking events, the standings would reflect this even more.

More of, a sign of ease of implementation for controller drivers on the arcade build.
Now hopefully they take those lessons to the PS4 version. :x

That's kind of nuts that they're spending time on controller drivers for what is probably going to be a one-off demo. Also: does this mean that any sticks used have to be PS4-compatible as well, or is it only the DS3 that's not expected to work? (I would imagine that this is all up in the air as it is, though.)

For CPT, I would have done 14 automatic premier events, 1 returning champion, and then put all the people who qualified by ranking points (15-32) into a death bracket on the first day to enter the last 16th spot so they can play Momochi or Daigo first round or whomever the first seed is.

This way we get more bonus content, but the qualifiers have to fight their way in, and they still have to fight against the best immediately.

i meant to type, that given the recent criminal mishaps in the fgc lately, a fashionable manpurse might not be the best place to carry stuff around in. IF he's carrying that much cash.

but then again Daigo would have like 50 pairs of eyes on him at all times so he might be safe.

Thread of people saying Melee players should move onto games that don't play like Melee cause it has Smash in the name.

EVO trying to exploit skilled labor in the form of a t-shirt design contest with the lure of "USE CAPCOM/STREET FIGHTER and EVO IP" instead of commission a piece or pay correctly.

What a wonderful time to be into fighting games!

At least Jack-O looks neat I guess.

@hc0519: so new Xrd seems to be
- no balance tune for existing characters
- developed with concept of “expansion” by adding new system and characters

@hc0519: new systems confirmed so far are
- follow attack (new move?) from blitz shield activation
- spend burst to buff super (EX super?)

Stop adding systems arc plz
