I find 1 frame links in SF4 are hard depending on the normal youre linking off of. Elenas c.lk, c.lp is a 1 framer but I dont have much trouble hitting it consistently because the timing is very quick, almost like linking her jabs. Her 1 framer off her overhead is much harder to link though and it's why you dont see many Elenas go for it unless they got that select plink mod. Same goes with other jab 1 framers where the link is off of a normal that has lots of recovery or it's off a normal that can normally be chained. Getting that timing is much harder than something that recovers very quick and can only be linked.

Homes, you can play as this guy.

...is that an instrument?

Yea I know what you mean. St. HK ~ cr.LP is a 1f link but 5x harder to hit than cr.lp ~ cr.MP.

I think the same guy that modded your stick asked if I wanted him to mod in a select plink button but.. nah. It'd be really awkward to shift over all my buttons too.

Probably be worth it in the end tbh.

Anyone else impressed by Jack-O's aesthetic? I haven't liked a new ASW character's design since Hazama (fucking HATE his playstyle though) in CS. If they plopped her into +R I wouldn't bat an eye. Gotta wait for details and video footage of her actual playstyle, mechanics, etc.
A traffic cone with fists?
No, a version of Q that doesn't suck. Someone had to do it since Capcom hasn't been up to the challenge for 16 years.

pls embarrass me at evo or e3, capcom

I'm interested in her. Hoping that we'll get some official coverage like we did for UNIEL since I want some good footage from websites.

@gilley3D

PS4 USF4 1.02 input lag tests gave me 4.8f(3.5f for 360). Lag is there but I don't have to adjust much if any. Thumbs up!

Done on the TE2.

Edit: Numbers are different than what Displaylag has (which includes the 360). Maybe gilley subtracted something else, I don't know. Either way, the difference between PS4 and 360 is much smaller than the difference listed on Displaylag.

Edit2: Oh right, Displaylag doesn't use TE2s to test theirs. They use a mechanical keyboard and converter which is why the numbers are greater on theirs.

Why does everyone hate Rufus :(

The only part of Rufus I hate is Space Opera Symphony. I want to say goodbye to it.

Thread of people saying Melee players should move onto games that don't play like Melee cause it has Smash in the name.

o_o

Went and dug up the thread. This is hilarious.

Imagine if Starcraft 2 was completely different and not what the competitive community desired, it would've been lucrative as fuck to try and get some of that disgruntled audience when they're looking for something new.

This is hilarious, because SC2's mechanics and the resulting system dynamics are completely different from those of Brood War, a legacy of it being designed as a far more small scale game than BW was or what SC2 is nowadays. The joke is that the devs refuse to address those basic incentives and try to artificially make rules that eg. encourage certain expansion patterns and just make bigger maps and whatnot.

That sounds kinda disappointing, there are too many various dumb things in the game that it might as well stay full on stupid. Chipping away at them one by one will take years.

So how long do people think it'll be before the next revision of Xrd?
It just dropped in the EU (digital only).
Considering it but I might just wait and import the next real release...

Do you think revelator is gonna be DLC or a disc revision when it comes home?

I'm going to go ahead and wait a few months for the disc after the next iteration after Revelator, personally.

They're all going to be full-price, anyway, and what's the point in dropping $180 more dollars when at least two of those versions will relegated to coaster status before Evo '16?

Man, Virtual Fighter 5 FS is so damn awesome.

Just enjoying the arcade mode while looking some stuff up online and am having a blast. DandyJ's tutorial on youtube is excellent, very comprehensive.

The idea of a manual buffer clear is genius. Apparently in this game you can clear the input buffer at any time by pressing guard, it's pretty damn easy to make sure your moves don't overlap and you also don't have to worry about stopping an attack string and accidentally have it continue instead of the new move coming out (pressing guard cancels the string). This would have been a godsend in KOFXIII.

Also, I would get kinda stuck in attack strings while blocking but there are quite a few ways to get out of it seems, based on the tutorial and the match vids I saw. Unlike in KOF you aren't really locked into block stun until there is an opening so while blocking you can input a parry move or just side step to get out of block stun and onto the offensive. Though the whole auto tracking thing enemy attacks do after you side step still means you have to be careful with what you do next. You can also crouch punch if their string is high, or any portion of it.

I much prefer short buffer + button hold. Just find that short buffers generally make a game feel sharp, which I like a lot.

It's tough to get through once she gets going lol. I have an easier time getting through it with Filia, but I gotta figure it out with the other characters I use. : <
GGs last night! Was fun trying to figure out where to block when you had me locked down. SF4 has ingrained the Law of Downback in me a little too deeply though lol

I would have thought you'd have an easier time with Squigly and Eliza. I noticed you didn't really start using that attack where Eliza's servant pops up from the ground until our last few games. I think that'd help when I'm being too staionary/grounded

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
I started out playing VF casually, then learnt the ropes on SF4 and MvC3, then went back to VF5FS.

Made me wonder how on earth VF ever got a reputation for being "too hard." Execution-wise, it's piss easy as long as you're not dependent on a bunch of just-frame moves.

Multiple throw escapes was the only system-wide mechanic that I remember being tough, but FS did away with all of that anyway.

VF5FS really has one of the best-designed systems in fighting games, and presents itself very clearly. It also teaches you a lot about fighting games in general.

Shame it isn't more popular in the US, even though it's what everyone basically describes when they talk about their dream fighting game to attract new players.

this is more accurate to what I feel, input lag was easily noticeable pre-update, and comparing with PC, was not feeling that input lag anymore, so for me didn't make sense the results from displaylag which was suggesting lag reduced just by one frame

Big band rush punch assist and peacock is hilarious and amazing.
It's pretty entertaining when someone gets hit and sent full screen again.

I've tried the Skullgirls demo/trial and it's not for me. Nothing in that game really clicks with me, from the design to gameplay.[/QUOTE]
Game is free to play until Sunday, I think, on steam right now if you change your mind.
