Fighting Games Weekly | June 29 - Jul 5 | Frauds Among U.S.

I dont think I could ever be that hyped again. I more tend to assume that nothing good is coming.
Yeah I think it's a bit different this time around because we've explicitly (via leaks) and implicitly (I guess just via cynicism over the years) been told to temper our expectations.

But I'm still super hype to see the decisions Ono & co. make with SFV. At least since the release of SF4 I feel like I have a better eye for things to look out for and changes to look out for throughout development up until we get the full release and probably beyond.

Lab Zero Panel at Anime Expo:

Meet with Lab Zero Games, the team responsible for the critically-acclaimed Skullgirls Encore, which has been adding new characters and features since its wildly successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign. Listen to stories about Skullgirls' eventful development and find out what it's like to bring a 2D, hand-animated fighting game to the latest consoles.

Stick around for an exciting reveal!

However, it's probably worth noting that since I made my previous post, it's been revealed that Wayforward and Lab Zero may be collaborating on something. It's possible that the reveal is their new project and not necessarily Skullgirls related, but hopefully it involves fighting games either way!

Right on. At this point, I am more interested in system mechanics.

Also, is anyone else hyped by the apparent fact that Capcom is letting us take SFV online so early? We get to give netcode feedback!

It looks like they've learned a lot from SF4 and Combofiend helping out in development is really exciting. The game looks really solid and there are no glaring flaws with it that I see so far so i'm hype.

skullgirls beatemup would be cool and fit into both the profiles of those devs + possibly allow asset reuse up the wazoooooo
Yeah this is interesting. I think the Skullgirls IP is ripe for becoming a cross-genre franchise, the character design is strong enough for that IMO. I can see WayForward doing a low budget title on either mobile or digital platforms.

Yeah, I think that's a really huge deal and telling about how they are approaching development in general. They want to knock it out of the park and have fans contribute to that. I think it's really big for engaging a whole new generation of players.

can we run an online version for broke ass mofos like me
lol
The greatest SF player and greatest poster in the history of this site.

hope he never comes back

They should def make a skullgirls game that isn't a fighting game. I think a lot of The casual people who love skullgirls love it for reasons that have nothing to do with it being a fg so a more approachable game would be perfect.

How would that be any different to Skullgirls? If people already love it for other reasons and nobody actually plays it then all boxes are ticked.

Same: having zero expectations is the best way to stay happy- lets you enjoy what you've got and you don't get set up for disappointment.

nah, unbridled hype is the only way. When you anticipate something, and that thing soars past expectations...it's the only way.

If there was a new marvel or capcom allstars and capcom well and truly had their shit together with online, I'd be hyped. SF5 is looking alright now tho.

Not registered for Evo, might just drive down and kick it though. Can I still purchase a spectator pass or whatever at the door or nah?

I have Clockwork in my Mahvel pool, NAKAT in my Smash Wii U pool.

Uh...........

EDIT: Beef you got LT in your Smash bracket too, he's the #2 guy here in Hawaii. He beat DKWill and Ninjalink in the big tournament we had when they came over

From looking at pools so far:

-Filipinoman, Damdai, Snafoo, and Integra are in a pool. Winner of that pool goes on to face Sako.
-Daigo after pools has to face winner of Okkun (ibuki) and Aiai (juri)
-In order to get to semis, Xian will have to face PR Rog and winner of that goes on to face winner of smug pool to get to semis.
