Fighting Games Weekly | June 29 - Jul 5 | Frauds Among U.S.

From the SFV topic on gaming side:

PSblogcast has a new interview up with Combofiend and Matt

- The netcode for SFV is proprietary and is codenamed Kagemusha

- They feel online is now essential to growing the franchise, which is a big reason why the beta is taking place.

- As a result the beta will be online only because the point is to make sure the online is as smooth as possible when the game does launch

- They talk about characters selection being split into different categories

1) The mainstays/popular characters
Ryu
Chun Li
Bison
Cammy

2) Fan requested
Nash

3) Characters that they had a good vision for
Birdie

4) New characters

- That poll is once again something that they are taking into account when picking characters, but it's obviously not solely based on who was the most popular

- From the way they talk the new characters are up next as far as announcements go. So it looks like Comic Con will be our first glimpse of someone completely new to the series

- They'll eventually be doing tutorial videos for on their Capcom Fighters channel

There are like 15-20 guys I wouldn't blink an eye at being in the EVO top-8 and another 10 or so I wouldn't be too shocked to find there if they get a good bracket.

The depth at the high-end of Street Fighter players is insanely deep. It's going to be another year of crazy early eliminations.

Bruh, these are the strongest players of the year. Aside from Smug, these players have a really strong chance. America bopped Japan at CEO, aside from Kazunoko.

Players that didn't go to CEO: Sako, Nemo, Xian, Poongko, Inco, Luffy, Valmaster, and a whole bunch of top players.

CEO had every great US player, but Justin right? US going to have 3 players in top 8. No more.

Justin will be getting some good practice this weekend. Everyone is at Taito Station right now. Daigo, Poongko, Mago, Kazunoko, Momochi, Nemo, etc.... Momochi said he's going to Taito Station today (he never does) because every top player will be there due to Topanga Charity Cup happening tomorrow.

When Smug went to Topanga he only played those guys in Topanga League and maybe with Tokido in casuals. Other then that, Taito Station had the usual regulars and no one else.

the over patch critics exagerate so much. Like D'vorah hasnt had match ups change that much since Toryuken. The biggest change was slight advantage off f+1,1,2. She used to get her 50/50 guaranteed, now it's only the low. You could apply this to your game in a single set. There are not many examples of having to "relearn the game" like you always hear and it never seems to be a problem with serious players.

I agree, I actually think it's fairly overblown. I do agree with them on some points but I also think that this is the best time to make significant changes because then folks can quickly adjust as most are still in the discovery phase. The only thing is that it's before Evo, if this was in the post Evo phase, I think it'd be pretty awesome.

A lot of characters have ended up benefiting from patching too like it seems Kitana did, even Tempest Kung Lao who was incomplete at launch, IMO.

MadCatz staking its entire fortune on Rock Band peripherals

Losing Team MadCatz would be a huge blow to the fgc if it fails :(

Its ok you can clearly see Daigo branching out into appearances for hire and self promotion like in that GG video. He knows that he has to milk what hes got while he can. He didn't write that book or license out that manga for nothing.

Won't they also get a big bump from SFV PS4 sticks? Up until now there was really no compelling reason for casuals to buy a PS4 stick as far as I can tell, since Xrd is niche and MKX plays really well on pad.

This is just tales from my ass, though. But yeah, betting on rock band 4 seems dicey, but isn't the statement basically saying that they needed to put this agreement in place because the investors are also skeptical about madcatz's sales projections for RB4 peripherals?

TE2s have been selling out since launch. Sf5 will make it nigh impossible to find a stick.

The article states that they had a positive net income last year for the first time since 2011. Given their sponsorship stuff, I suspect Markman's sticks are doing quite well.

Sadly, their creditors are 100% correct to be skeptical about Rockband 4.

So MadCatz is already in debt (from fiscal year report of last year) is about to default, but has only secured credit through Rock Band peripherals...

Mad Catz has been running a string of operating losses, with the last postiive operating income reported for fiscal year 2011. The losses have been diminishing, but still remain. Net income was positive for the most recently completed fiscal year for the first time since 2011.

They get three years of credit that can be cut off at any time. They really are banking everything on Rock Band and preorders of the peripherals.

For what it's worth, I bought a brand new TE2... I wash my hands of this. Though somehow I don't think it's the customers' fault this happened. There is no way that MCZ can survive off a title like the upcoming Rock Band... I'd like to be proven wrong but there's just no way. This explains why both of the MCZ booths at E3 had nothing but Rock Band materials inside.
