Fighting Games Weekly | June 4-10

A little late, but I dunno what you guys are talking about regarding the KOF community not showing up to tournaments.
They definitely do, in strides.

In majors, it's definitely one of the biggest games, consistently ahead of MK, Tekken, BB, and whatever else. It's usually behind SC, but usually not too much, and there have been times when it pulled ahead too.
Final Round had like 170 people, and it's the 3rd biggest game at Evo (though that's probably largely due to the shirts).

The KOF guys definitely step it up when it comes to FGC tournaments.
Dunno why the MLG appearances have been so poor, but that definitely shouldn't be an indicator for the health of the game/community. I mean, The Runback consistently gets more entrants than MLG has gotten.

I suspect it's because KOF players have no interest in MK or SCV, but do have interest in other fighters, especially of the poverty variety, that MLG doesn't cover. Also, those fees are expensive for just one game, so they wait for regular FGC tournies, which are more community-driven and cheaper.

Apparently Chris G's got some new Morrigan tech:

It probably gets a lot of spillover from SF players. Somewhat similar styles of gameplay and what not. It isn't going to get any spillover from SC5 and MK9.

If ChrisG is using X-Factor off of the grab, then the kill combo is really old.

Grab -> Shadow Servant (XFC) -> air dash into j.S into your favored combo.

Unless he discovered some new way to OTG with Morrigan, that has to be it. Akuma can't OTG, and you can't plan for the Hidden Missiles OTG. Calling Hidden Missiles before Shadow Servant whiffs. You don't have time to do anything before Shadow Servant besides call an assist.

So, I think this will be a bit less exciting than people think, though no one I've seen except for me ever does kill after the throw. It's definitely not easy.

KOF is starting up soon on the MLG stream. Support that game because it honestly needs the help. Please?
