oh my fuckin' lord.

It's more expensive now than when it originally launched all the way back in 2017 !!!!

Wait, is this real?
Why wouldn't be. Nintendo doesn't lower the prices of their games. If you go and buy the game separately and then the upgrade pack is likely going to be more expensive. What I find offensive is that the NS2 code is not in the cartridge. It's just the NS1 version with likely a paper with a code for the upgrade. Disgusting.

Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer is releasing day 1 on this. I am so looking forward to a day 1 Ridge Racer again, and it being the original Ridge Racer is even more special for some reason.

And TOTK being $10 more than the original release is also insane. Did TOTK at least get any DLC that might be included?
AFAIK it's just this....
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
    • Enhanced resolution, improved textures and HDR support
    • Smoother frame rates
    • Faster load times
    • Additional save slot
  • Compatible with ZELDA NOTES via the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices.
TOTK is no different....
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
    • Enhanced resolution, improved textures and HDR support
    • Smoother frame rates
    • Faster load times
    • Additional save slot
  • Compatible with ZELDA NOTES via the Nintendo Switch App for compatible smart devices.
There's also a feature where you can upload something you built and others can download it into their games to build. But that's it.

Nintendo did almost everything right, but then fucked up with their pricing. The console price itself isn't optimal, but kinda tolerable, but pricing for MK World is absolutely crazy. The new pro controller is too expensive, too.

Wonder if its cheaper to buy ToTK now and then upgrade.

We have no idea what the upgrade price is. Though if you have Switch Online + Expansion Pass you just get the two Zelda upgrades included. But Tears is still $70 new and like $65 used so you likely won't be saving anything.

They raised the prices indeed but they didn't create a tier system just for multilanguage.
This isn't the 80's anymore. A lot of foreign people working and living in Japan. Hell they even opened up digital nomad visas now.
If the region locked, Japan only model didn't exist then the Switch 2 would cost 70,000 yen.

Maybe there's a way round it, but I can't see a method for offering a multilanguage system in Japan for a reasonable price while also avoiding exports
Expats and refuse to integrate with the local language. Name a more iconic duo.
I suck at languages so I can't really talk!

Basically, buying the non-MK bundle switch is lighting $30 on fire. Considering how many copies MK8D sold, the only switch 2 pack worth considering is the bundle, because most owners will likely end up with MKW at some point, and Nintendo does not drop price on games anymore.

Additional save slots, a revolutionary concept.

So does the BOTW NS2 Edition come with the dlc packs? I assume it does? But I have no earthly idea lol

The console price is fine for what you're getting, IMO. It's the game prices that are giving me pause. I'm not shelling out $80 for a game this decade, inflation be damned.
My sentiments exactly.

These game prices is what is deterring me. Sigh, maybe BF "deals" will be my point of entry for the Switch 2 ecosystem.

I would hope so, but unless I'm missing it, I'm not seeing it on their official Nintendo pages.

If they didn't bother to print the recompiled executable for NS2 why would they bother with the DLCs? It'll be a paper with a code.

Very likely, but I was talking about them being included at all, one may assume, but I'm not seeing anything there saying they are, lol.

Pricing is fine for all the shit that you're getting.

Do some Doordash. That extra $50 people are complaining about you can get that in two hours delivering food.

Eh, that's subjective, and clearly there are plenty of people that don't agree. If pricing is "fine", then it's only ever going to go up more and more.

Easier said than done for some folks considering Doordash, Uber Eats, Favor, etc. success really depends on where you're located, lol. Not to mention there are other variables like not owning a car, etc.

Action plan from Nintendo fans to gamers in general!!

I think they could be ways around it, we have mynumber card/ resident card as proof so those would get the "japanese price" upon request. I'm not a tourist here, I don't get tax off on the goods I buy yet I get fucked if I want to buy products locally.

What does that have to do with anything? My kids are japanese, so they have no problem with the language.
Also maybe, just maybe expats would integrate better if they didn't feel like 2nd class citizens, just a thought ;)

Your kids aren't expats. You are. It you're going to live in another country knowing the language is the bare minimum. And yeah, maybe in Japan are assholes to the foreigners, but don't tell me you didn't know that before moving.

I guess you're being dense for the sake of it. No point in arguing and on to the ignore list :)

Reports suggest Nintendo has recently switched an increasing amount of production from China to Vietnam to avoid U.S. tariffs, while building up stocks of the product in the world's biggest market.

Hmmmm, really wonder how this will work

Could give a shit about the price. $450 isn't astronomical. I'm more concerned about the software or lack of interesting games. I have no desire to replay old Switch games in higher res.

TOTK is $80. LMAO. 🤣😂🤣🤡🤡🤡

On the other hand, Bravely Default Remaster physical is pretty decent if SE keeps it fully on the cart.

For TOTK or any of these other "Edition" older games, just get a used copy for $40ish and either get "free" update if you have NSO+ or pony up $10-$20.

Note that the "Edition" games won't have the upgrade code on the cart anyways it looks like.

Probably not yet? Or maybe it has that built in already.
Some built in, not nearly enough would be my take. Bit surprised the launch date is so far out, Nintendos next move probably comes down to how full they have stuffed the US wholesale channels by midnight tonight.

Dang, micro SD Express is kinda meh. It looks like it's still not widely available, and the price is higher than m.2 nvme SSD.

Does the switch 2 price factor in tariffs?

Does this include the Trump import tax?

Tariffs have nothing to do with it. If they did, the system would be cheaper in Europe, Australia, and Canada but more expensive in the US. But that's not the case. They're the same price (generally, adjusted for exchange rates) as the US model in every other market except Japan.

Yep. As far as I've been able to tell, only three manufacturers make microSD Express cards (Sandisk, Samsung, and Lexar), and they're all ridiculously expensive. $50 for 128gb is nonsense. This is another reason I'm not on board with the Switch 2. Buying one of these overpriced microSD Express cards will be practically mandatory.

256gb base storage is woefully inadequate when it's going to be needed to carry your entire digital Switch catalog and digital Switch 2 games (including game key card games like SF6) eat up 50gb chunks. Really no excuse for not launching with at least 512gb base storage.

With Switch 2 game supporting 4K, first-party games will likely have high-res texture too. Even with Nintendo's magic compression, the size will be huge.

Always remember.

wow, goes to show what a piece shit this company actually is, that someone had to literally plead with them to realize they needed to include that to really sell the concept.

Nintendo's greed knows no bounds... Reggie legit saved that company

Exactly, Square knows whats up, its a remaster, so to them...it makes sense to actually price it as such. To fucking price a damn remaster like TOTK at a HIGHER PRICE then its original release, my god...that has to be a fucking first.

I told folks this shit too when they kept doubting a remaster of BOTW would happen, I had to remind them this same company ported Zelda OoT to GC, within 1 gen...why would they not do this with BOTW annnnnnnd here we are.

Bravely Default remaster being that price proves this has nothing to do with inflation or the price of those carts or anything even remotely like that. What would effect Nintendo, would effect Square, Capcom etc and they would just all price accordingly
