Fighting Games Weekly | March 11-17 | $1100 per room? I could build a house for $500

Technically speaking Naruto initially was a better show than DBZ. Way better paced, actual character development and death actually had weight in Naruto. The first few arcs are among the best that the Shonen genre has to offer. Now it's just worn out it's welcome, series needs to end already.

Bleach is basically the new DBZ though. The first 60 episodes were godly but now it's generic crap.

Also YYH is underrated as hell and is awesome. Actually ends at a high point rather than being dragged through the ground over and over again.

I talked to my 11 year old cousin on which he liked better. He thinks Naruto is the best, Bleach is 2nd and DBZ is garbage. He doesn't care for the dated animation and poor pacing.

DBZ is anime for the cool kids. You watch FLCL, Madoka or Samurai Champloo? We don't want your kind around here.

If we're going full anime for a second, I want/need someone to do a Soul Eater fighting game. A stand that can become a weapon and change player character move sets in real time sounds fucking hype.

Either that or get Platinum Games on an action game.

Edit: DBZ had like a handful of episodes (+ The World's Strongest, dat Roshi scene) with some spectacular animation though, but most of it was definitely phoned in.

You have to do this game with sprites, right?

I couldn't get past the animation in DBZ 15 years ago.
It's not really feasible. That would be an ideal situation but it's going to be like a better looking TvC. They are going to pump in a lot of characters from both sides, a lot of the Shonen franchises have a shit ton of characters. Like no way franchises like DBZ, Bleach and Naruto will have less than 4-5 characters per series... their fanbases are going to have a hissy fit if their Sauce-kay and Trunks aren't in the game.

That's without touching on shit like One Piece, Jojo's, Yu Yu Hakusho, Kenshin... Damn the roster wars that would go on would be amazing. :lol

Shonen Jump vs Capcom has the potential to overthrow Marvel as hypest game on the planet. It really is the holy grail.

Isn't Ultimate Marvel basically DBZ already? There's beams, fireballs, teleports, transformations, flight...I mean if it ever got released on PC I bet some of the first mods would be re-skinning some of them as DBZ characters.

DBZ fighting game based around the vs. fighting system? I'd buy it.

Edit: And I thought Nintendo vs. Capcom was the holy grail.

PG needs to make a Hellsing game....

I always feel so out of place when this thread gets off topic. I grew up watching Dragonball and never got in to DBZ. I don't know anything about current wrestling either. Mix in not being crazy about Marvel and man this thread ends up feeling cold to a Street Fighter loving dude.

Current wrestling isn't worth following. It's like a repeat of stuff that happened like 10-15 years ago.

A lot of characters already play like DBZ characters like Nova and Magneto. If Ryu could fly he would basically be Goku.

Just gotta become one of us.

One of us.

One of us.

Sorry vulva, if it's any consolation, I don't do this on purpose, it's just fun messing with the community here.

Edit: And I thought Nintendo vs. Capcom was the holy grail.

It's a lesser grail. A big one but far lesser.

Just put a slam dunk character in sj vs capcom, and ill think its the best game ever.

If I had one niche request, it'd be for Kumagawa from Medaka Box. A moveset based entirely around trolling someone's inputs and making them like nothing...

『It's not my fault you got bodied~!』

Just put a lvl 6 spirit bomb that destroys the whole team when activated. Makes Dark phoenix look balanced.

Also, I feel bad for people who never watched one piece. The show never loses its steam, while natruto lost its steam after 20 episodes, and bleach is barely watchable because the characters are terrible, and it tries really hard to be yyh at times.

YYH is the pinnacle of shounen, come at me anime bros

Yeah, Dabura, Piccolo, Omega Shenron and Cell are generally considered the best B3 characters. Dabura and Piccolo mostly for their godlike zoning, Omega Shenron for his ridiculous damage output and the highest baseline Ki in the game, and Cell is just a pretty ridiculous character in general.

Yup, used Piccolo back in the day, still remember the arguments at srk about it being a decent fighting game or not. Capsules even made it better(and made some low tier characters kinda viable).

Stream chat (even me) are trying to help them put a save file with all the characters unlocked

That's the only way to play that game, story mode and buying stuff was crap.

Now, if you could play DBZ Hyper Dimension or DBZ Super Butouden 2 online... *gasp*

And yet you put the word "Anime" next to the word "Fighter" and suddenly the shit is a punchline. :)

Dragonball Z was a shitty show, too. But I am old, and it is not for me.

After DBZ, 3 things set Naruto apart imo:

- politics playing a huge role in the general narrative
- The Uchiha story
- outcomes of fights being very situational and dependent on strategy as opposed to DBZ's "my power level is greater - I win". Even One Piece, as varied and interesting as the powers are, and as ridiculously consistent as the manga is (my favourite shonen right now) is somewhat guilty of that.

Pre-timeskip Naruto is up there. Shippuden...is a rollercoaster. So many issues I have with it, but I won't go in.

DBZ was godlike, but the best time to watch it is when you're a kid, really. Manga these days are offering abit more pretty much every aspect besides scale.

If it had a shit ton of start up/channeling time then it could be balanced. Have a whole team based around setting it up. Thank god Missiles wouldn't be in that game because it would allow you to get a Spirit Bomb off.

They should have some HnK "timer" death LVL3s that countdown to your death. So we can get godly hype moments like these:

AH3 is pretty fun and Under Night In-Birth looks pretty fun. Most people here like some anime fighters though. Mainly the Marvel vs series but they're just one step away.

I have only stuck with these two series out of morbid fascination. They're like traffic pile ups that just keep on piling up. Though Naruto is more of an up/down sort of situation, Bleach is just straight down.

I've never watched Dragonball or DBZ, nor wrestling, but I still get a kick out the references. It's better than the FGC drama!

HxH and Gintama characters would make me happy.
I'd definitely want some Gintama characters in a Shounen Jump vs Capcom game.

It's a lesser grail. A big one but far lesser.

Speaking of which, since I'm sure it's come up before, what was the consensus on what it should be? Like Smash Bros. or a traditional Capcom fighter? Or some weird in-between?

A lot of characters already play like DBZ characters like Nova and Magneto. If Ryu could fly he would basically be Goku.

I want it already. My mind is going places I'm positive it shouldn't and getting hyped over hypotheticals.

Marvel is basically the American Anime game. Seriously. Also, I am so hype for Under Night. Dat Yuzuriha.

Heh, sounds like everyone that got into both of those manga/anime. Like I did. (._. )

At least One Piece is still fun.

I was about to say "dafuq" until Gintama got brought up. Good shit.

I'd play Akuma (Tatsu) / Captain Falcon (Falcon's Up-B from Smash) / Samus (Plasma Beam) if there were a Nintendo vs Capcom.

These poor children will grow up deprived of good shounen. Goddamn Bleach got TERRIBLE after the first sixty episodes. Gintama would save the day, but it's probably a little too intense/crazy for widespread acclaim and audience penetration like DBZ.

Yeah, Yu Hu Hakusho is excellent Shounen.

This is sort of anime themed. I'd play the shit out of a LZG developed Last Blade with a soundtrack composed by Taro Iwashiro, Noriyuki Asakura and Taku Iwasaki.

Twist of time
Oniwanbanshu - Kyoto Investigation Team
Heart of the Sunrise

This puts hair on ya chest, bro.

Oh, and all the DBZ movies after Dead Zone, The World's strongest and The tree of might are turrible. Except maybe the first Cooler movie which made for the best abridged episode EVER. Abriged Goku is the best and his reaction to Gohan being in danger is fucking hilarious.

It's not about wanting a scythe chick guys, it's about wanting a duo that can switch between a main and a JoJo's stand and this kinda combat at will. :P

Solar, I KNEW you were a fucking bro. Taku Iwasaki is the best composer in anime free. Katanagatari, TTGL & Soul Eater? Fuck outta here with anyone else, that man is the Hideki Naganuma (re: dabess) of anime.
