I'm weighing my options! So clearly the few ways you can deal with the insanity is to avoid it by playing another style entirely (pick Yosuke, Teddie) or deal equivalent damage in return (pick S. Naoto, S. Chie, S. Mitsuru, Mitsuru, Narukami, Minazuki, Akihiko).

If Arc won't balance the game for months until console characters are released for arcade, I will probably pick Teddie and force my own game.

Actually pretty much any character can crap out damage (Teddie actually randomly kills you too!) until you get to the bottom tier of chars we think might not be viable atm. A lot of it comes down to either whether you literally get a 1/2 hit KO or how hard you can bully or control people. Teddie's super duper good because he can just do stuff and put people in bad situations a lot of the time.

get some go again
TTT2 will not be at EVO next year. Even KOFXIII is very much up in the air.
KOF should not be at evo next year. attendance was down this year and it probably won't have much international presence next year so what's the point.

Despite the insane damage and some of the stupid stuff the top-tier in the game have, this one feels like they finally rounded out most of the cast and gave them the necessary options to be able to play. You can probably go with a char you like, learn the neutral and grind it out for match-ups.

Even a Shadow Kanji did well in Arc Revo, no?

RitT4 was a blast. nice to be able to have a real top 8 in a less popular game at a minor which isn't VF centric in the first place. shame you missed it, plan on coming to NYGX :)

RitT was the first tournament that I traveled out of state floor back in 2009 for SC4. Had a great time. Slept on ChaCha's floor. Ate mad buffalo wings.

I'd love to see a 3D game in EVO's lineup, but none of them are going to be a big draw, and TTT2 will be done when T7 drops in arcades.

I'd love to see UNIEL at EVO. I wouldn't mind seeing BBCP and Xrd also, but Japan is still going to run train on everybody.

MKX will be out in time for EVO.

Smash 4 has alot of hype behind it. People asking for Melee and Smash 4 are crazy because Melee will take alot of time to run through. Plus you need a bunch of old consoles and CRTs to run it, along with the people to supply them. One is enough.

Omega Exhibition? Meh. Why waste time with more SF that's not the standard when you can showcase something else.

Ye. For the most part this is right, with a few exceptions. If you look at YMST's tier list, the upper chunk of the cast is pretty clustered. Chie is the cut off point of viable, there's an argument to be made either way there. The characters below her might just not be viable if you want to win consistently or push through tournaments.

I'd like to see P4U and Xrd if only that it'd allow both Atlus and Aksys to throw all their weight behind either game in terms of support.

but BBCP was such a success last year I'd hate for it to be snubbed/ignored. I feel part of the reason for that was the incentives provided by Aksys though...

KOFXIII (I want this in just so that Tokido has one more shot at the title)

I really, really want KOF to return with all the best players making it out to EVO. There's always been at least a couple of top contenders who couldn't make it, such as Bala making GF in 2012 but not attending in 2013-2014.

And please force Hellpockets to commentate.

The incentives were relatively last minute- ArcSys has consistently had a rep the last few years. Xrd is a virtual lock - the question is more "is there a second/third?" now, and if it's 2, which gets left out.

Bala's locked out of the states for another few years, iirc, due to overstaying his Visa.

Of the 4 that are below Chie, Kanji and Junpei can fuck shit up with the right reads and momentum so that would leave Elizabeth and Labrys, Liz is obvious though not sure about Labrys issues.

I was also just reading the P4U JP BBS and folks were complaining about Amada in the Character rank thread, lol.

I think there's something to be said about the fundamentals that carry through from game to game. Since you have some months until the games are actually announced, it wouldn't hurt to raise your base level of skill while you wait.

I'm planning on focusing on BB, DOA, and SF until announcements drop.

And Dengeki, of course.

Yeah, of course, I'm more focused on school (start Thursday, finally!) so that'll take precedence over fighting games until I manage to get a hold of my workload and am doing well in my classes.

I'll stick to Smash 4 and probably USF4 for Evo, but I'll probably be playing P4AU too.

I 100% approve of this list.

That would be a really good list.

Odds are it won't happen though

I highly doubt Tekken 7 is going to release before EVO 2015 on consoles and its arcade release will be more than likely limited to Japan/Korea. Unless Namco plans on building a new model for Tekken releases.

Namco will have Tekken 7 featured at U.S. events though (such as Final Round).

If TTT2 isn't at EVO, then I don't know what point there would be to feature Tekken 7 there since a lot of the Tekken players are going to be missing.

TTT2 is very likely to not be at EVO 2015 (outside of side tournament status maybe) but it can be a main game if Namco sponsors again.

No Namco representation is going to be truly sad. Though, I guess Smash 4 could partially count as a Namco title.

Oh Yuki-san~, will you ever be high tier?

If KOF gets into Evo again I'm going to rub it into James Chen's face about "supporting your game".

The game got lower entries than Soul Calibur 5 at the CEO right before Evo. Hasn't had an active presence at Super Arcade in over a year. Had ~11 people playing it at WCW, when Socal is supposed to have the strongest scene for it.

Yukiko is also below Chie. The problem with Kanji is his mix up out of pressure actually is more or less nonexistent now thanks to some discoveries made, and he gets bullied too hard to be consistent. Junpei is in the boat of it takes too much to get him going. Liz is Liz (she has gotten better recently but same issues), and Labrys literally does nothing well compared to anybody and just loses in so many ways.

You see char specialists make things happen with these chars sometimes, but consistency and low output are the main issues. I still know next to nothing about Ken -_-

I wonder if Melee and Smash 4 is feasible. They'd get the third and fourth most entrants, free.

Though I get the feeling the Evo staff wants Melee gone ASAP. CRTs are probably an issue.

It could be 98 or 02UM, get some PCs for Evo.

KOF got a lot of entrants that one year because they were giving free t-shirts. The following year (i.e. this year), they had to change that rule due to people not showing up for matches and only entering for the T-shirt. Thus, the reason why the Devil Asuka shirt was revealed as a free prize for Tekken EVO entrants after registration had closed.

why are there placements for ken and koromaru

Hey, I don't like project m. I think it's a crappy fg. I don't think a modded game has a place at an event like EVO.

It being a mod shouldn't be a factor in the discussion.

I fully expect EVO 2014 to be all Smash 4 though.

So many people couldn't make it last year, it's sad. Then again Bala massively fucked up.

Guys, using the "t-word" here will get you banned because it's considered offensive.

That's smart. Games nowadays implode in price so quickly.
The upside of $60-70 games is that games hit $40 much faster now.

Missing this year's E3 pre-order deals is biting me in the ass right now :(

"Trap" is a derogatory and offensive word breh

My bad, I'm on anime forums a bit too much and that's what they use...

Thanks for the warning, I had no clue. Hopefully Shouta may find it in his heart to forgive this cooked root.

Yams needs to be ban for being offensive.

I'll be buying AH3:Love Max!!!!! (yes you need all five exclamation points) this week, even though I've played more of the import than I care to admit.

If it's like what happened with Aquapazza, I expect to buy it when it hits for $15-$20 in a month.
The difference there is that Aquapazza launched at $25 in the US. Aksys can cut deals on games (the sale on BBCP right after Evo was a nice touch) but I don't think they've ever given that much of a discount on anything, really.

GG.
