Fighting Games Weekly | Sept 23-29 | Beauty and the Beast

I think Makoto is definitely top 10 on the on-paper tier list. Maybe top 5. If anyone was to ever master all her crazy crossup/unblockable axe kick setups and be able to pull them off 90% of the time then she would be fucking gross.

But on a practical tier list, she's probably just outside of top 10 imo.

true. Also tokidoblog has finally put up the semis and gf of the capcom cup

The qualifier was crazy, lots of madness and lots of luck. All unique characters, turned out pretty well.

B League starts this Friday. Viewing tickets are now available. B League (all days) is 1500 yen, or 300 yen for individual days. A League (all days) is 3500 yen, or 500 yen for individual days. Both Leagues can be purchased as a single package for 4500 yen. Of course purchasing options are very limited if you're not in Japan.

If I could pay to download the archives when both are done, that would be sick

UK news:

The UK Capcom Cup qualifier will be taking place at Play Expo, Manchester, on the last weekend of October. This is particularly interesting because Play Expo has normally been associated with the Mancunian/Northern/Not London scene, so I've got no clue what the London turnout is going to be.

The way it's looking with the current qualifiers, every winner will probably be from South East Asia. The only exception is Chris G. Having Canada Cup as a qualifier won't remedy this situation. I'm all for having high level play but it would be interesting to see competitors from all over the world. It was entertaining to see Breno Fighters win the brazil qualifier last year.

I count two slots in NA, one in UK, one in Brazil, one in Australia and 3 in East Asia.

It's one in Japan and from the Asia qualifiers 2 people go for a grand total of 8 players for Capcom Cup. Unless I am mistaken this is how it's set up.

How will they do that? Round robin between the 3 of them? That would be hype as fuck, so I hope they do that

There will be 6 participants (2 from each qualifier). I don't know if it'll be a normal tournament with byes involved or not. I guess we'll see.

That should be fun

If I were a sponsored Japanese player without a spot I would be eyeballing the UK qualifier. Poor Ryan Hart.

"Thank you very fucking much MadCatz" part 2: the runback?

I was actually thinking the same thing. Besides, it's on the same weekend as Shadowloo Showdown. Guys like Tokido, Mago, Gamerbee as well as several other Japanese players are already going there. It'd be wise for Daigo, Justin, or PR Rog, or any other top SF4 player to head to the UK instead which may not please some Europeans as you mentioned.

It hit me for the first today that Dark Souls pvp is the true successor to Bushido Blade.

Huge play space with free-roaming. Check.

Organic areas. Check.

Weapon type determines fighting style. Check.

Has some really lame crap. Check. :D (What is Tranquil Walk of Peace if not the new equivalent of stabbing someone in the foot with the rapier?)

Would be cool to have a tournament viable version of Dark Souls pvp. Not the arena from the DLC, but a way to have easily organized matches out in the world, like random pvp is today. I think it would be hype as fuck to watch.

Honestly there's so many to watch and they're so long, I just end up skipping to when Mimora or Tominaga play.

You do yourself a grave disservice. Tozais bring out some unknown but otherwise extremely skilled 3S players and you get a lot of variety in matchups, unlike a lot of other tournaments this is all for fun (and soda) and it's reflected in the SA choices and team makeup. Watching Pierrot play Remy is a real treat, for example.

For what it's worth the SA3 Twelve mirror starts at 28:50 in the aforementioned video and it's hilarious.

I think it is excellent that our gaming tastes and views seem to overlap quite a lot

yea, I was confused about the 2 from each qualifier in east asia. It's still a bunch of tries for sponsored asian players.

I would feel bad for hart as well if the top japanese players went to the uk one lol. Didn't louffy win a tournament against him pretty recently? I want louffy to go

oh yea, capcomfighters put up the tgs ae grand finals. Check out the hypeness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKx5FUFr6nE

Man those poor Europeans. Guess they'll have to step it up.

Last time I saw this, you can fire a gun when your meter reaches max. Video might still be out there.
Yeah i played that build, if you hold the Sweep button for 2 seconds it shoots. (You can avoid the gunshot by not pressing anything)
