The NE doesn't stand for Northeast does it? If Dakou and Xiaohai are from a city like Shanghai then it would make sense considering how far north that city is in China. And lol, they still can't get Poongko and Infiltration on a team. And it looks like Laugh and Infiltration still haven't quite made up yet either. I do like the idea of the top Asian players combining forces because it's probably too hard to get several more members of their countrymen to come and are good enough to hang with the killers from other regions of the world.

PR Rog explained that FChamp is there to counter Bonchan and lure out Kazunoko. Team USA used the same strategy in previous Canada Cup tournaments.

Sim isn't a good tournament character but since his matchups are so polarized, he's useful in Pokemon style team tournaments. Wow, different formats!

Around 28 characters have won a major (30+ if Vanilla is included as well) so you are starting out with half the roster banned already. That's just boring.

I wonder how some of the CafeID players are going to be this year, I remember they were solid last time but not on the level of the others who had AE as their main game and what not. I think it'll be an interesting team tournament at the least.

Doom still comes out on top because he has Missiles and Beam. And this just messes up team synergies and assist characters more than just outright banning characters so you are forced to make full teams.

You wouldn't even always need to do that. Like if you were up against Justin, once you've banned Wolverine there's not a ton of reason to ban Storm or Akuma. You might want to use your other two bans on his alt characters like Spencer and Frank West, so he has to pick a C team or make up a new one on the fly.

Pretty much yea. In some cases you just need to ban key elements of a team not the whole team.

Against Justin though I would ban Wolverine, Spencer, Akuma. Storm doesn't fit in any of his other teams and taking out Spencer removes like 2 to 3 of his alt teams. The funny thing is that doing this ban will just allow him to pick his cheap Zero/Doom/Vergil team and he will win anyway. Then next match you ban Wolverine, Spencer, Vergil but then he bodies you with like his Zero Dante team. Justin would pretty much win every tournament in this format, either him or ChrisG. They are just so fundamentally strong at the game and play a wide variety of characters.

Dakou switched to Cammy and he looked really fucking good with her at EVO. He barely missed out on making top 8 when he lost to Haitani who was playing out of his mind that night. But the rest are matches that he can definitely win although I wouldn't necessarily say he has the advantage in the match up or as a player.
