By the way, I've seen a lot of really nice displays here, and have some similar ones in my office (gotta love Ikea for all that) but a decorator gave me a bit of advice once that I applied in my Sideshow shelves:
If you have a big collection, it's best to display only a few of the items at a time. It allows each item to stand out more, and, because you can swap things regularly, it keeps it much more interesting for anyone viewing them.*
When I started to design the shelves, I was trying to figure out a way to display dozens of figures, but after her suggestion, I ended up with this design that's able to show 10-15, and storing the rest, and it really has made a difference. I do find people are more interested in them, they look better, the figures all breathe more, and, when rearranging, I get to do little 'themed' sections over and over. I'd just say it's one of the best pieces of advice I've ever gotten on collecting (which I seem to do a bit of). Plus things get dusted more often as I rearrange.
So, yeah, design shelves and displays with out-of-sight storage in mind, and don't try to put everything out at once.
*plus you don't look like as big of a freak as we are
