Film journalist Jeff Sneider is now backing up what NexusPointNews broke yesteday regarding an Elden Ring film directed by Alex Garland and distributed by A24. His recent previously confirmed rumours include the cast for M. Night Shyamalan's next film, Bill Skarsgard joining the next Michael Sarnosky's film and Mikey Madison being in talks for a role in Shawn Levy's Star Wars film.

Again.. good luck trying to streamline a story from a so fragmented and incomplete narrative... I mean, you cannot even pintpoint a reliable timeline of some events and a lot of characters can be removed without any problems (eg: gloam eye queen)

A24 would have been perfect for a Bloodborne film.

As for ER, I really, really don't get the hype behind it, everything about the game felt so "fragmented" as you put it in comparison to all their other games that...
Weird and dare I say "boring", almost generic high fantasy art direction, gameplay loop and level design so banal that it felt like "dark souls greatest hits - now featuring a horse®" and so on so forth...

Coming from Sekiro, this wasn't what I was expecting, in fact , Lords of the fallen, in its post patch 1.7 state, is a better souls/DS4 game that ER ever was, it's just that the FROM circle jerk is so strong that unfortunately, this fucking company can't do no wrong in their eyes.

Didn't they say the same thing about Barbie and Minecraft?

They're not making the Elden Ring movie for the 7k Elden Ring lore superfans. 100% of that audience is already camped out at the theater to watch this movie.

They're making this movie because 30+ million people bought the first game and Elden Ring 2 is going to do crazy numbers.

If I were to do this I'd probably make it some self contained story, and make it more about the atmosphere and action then trying to actually adapt the full lore and story of the game.
His 2 latest films are a good example. Civil War is about the journey and tense moments this group of journalists goes through, more than the actual Civil War itself. And Warfare, while I haven't seen it, is about the experience a Navy SEALs platoon goes through after a mission goes wrong, it's not trying to adapt the whole Irak War.

A24 is the only studio that could do this nowadays. I was disappointed in the Green Knight but dev Patel was good and the visuals and atmosphere were spot on.

Those are the 2 biggest things to get right so the vibe is correct
