Final Fantasy 3 DS screens

Just so I don't have to look it up..... FF3 was 'job system' based right?
Yup. You can find a list of the Jobs here, along with some other general info on the game... Skip the story section, though, as it's rather spoilerish. 'Course, we don't know how closely the remake will follow the Famicom original, but I'd still avoid that part just to be safe.

And isn't FFIV coming out HERE IN THE US on GBA in December?
Yeah, December 12th in the US, and December 15th in Japan.

The game looks amazing for DS! Im lovin what Im seeing so far. Has a release date been announced yet?

FFIV/V/VI will likely get the same treatment on the DS unless no one buys this game (yeah right).

I get the feeling they're rushing FFIV-VI onto the GBA now, so they can cash in on straight GBA ports for those titles before moving on to 3D versions on the DS.

Did Square confirm that FF: CC on the DS would be online? That seems like a no brainer.

Yup. Online for both Rev and DS.

FF:CC on Gamecube sans online play or bots for single player = a mortal sin.

FF:CC on DS with the Wi-Fi network = redemption on a card.

Cool man, thanks for the link :)

It almost seems like a lock that CC will be on Wi-Fi, although dumber decisions have been made before...

But FF3 looks good from those shots, wish they were a bit bigger though.

I'm looking forward to the Advance re-releases. I'd be pissed if they remade FFVI with crappy Crystal Chronicles art direction. Save the Precious Moments for figurines, thanks.

Has anyone here thought of the fact that ff cc will be released close to Rev lunch to futher enhance wirless play, between both verison. so when ff cc is annoucnned as a lunch date, we can expect the rev to lunch soon after.

I am pleasantly surprised. From the early talk of FF III being done in PS1 style I assumed that meant prerendered backgrounds, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Awesome.

I don't even think they'd really need to remake it. They could probably compress it onto a 256MB DS card, which 3DM currently is making, and easily fit it all, uncompressed sans the FMVs, onto a 512 card.

I have FFVII for the PC. Game data, at a full install, which puts EVERYTHING except the FMVs on the hard drive is 420 MB.
I know there's already been bickering on several topics about how feasible FF VII would be on media of various size, but you're slightly overblowing it I think. Why the PC version would be so different I don't know, but looking at all the FF VII PS1 files other than the FMV, it adds up to 244 megabytes as is.

Yeeeah... but compared to FF V it's definitely a step backwards. You can change jobs, but there's no using skills earned from another job. The only thing you keep from previous jobs are whatever different stat gains you earned from level-ups while being that class. Also, the longer a character is a certain job, the less points it later takes for them to switch to that or a similar job. Of course, given the things they've done with FF 1 and 2, and that the game is already going over such an audio and visual overhaul, this could be tweaked.

The thing that really makes me wonder is the town shot, as it looks pre-rendered with a fixed camera height.
I guess the shots are still not quality enough to tell for sure what's real-time and what's pre-rendered... but where you see a fixed camera and possible pre-rendering, I see simply shaped buildings with repetetive wall/tile/ground/grass textures.

You don't have to play it. You could just pretend it doesn't exist :D. I've always been sceptic about visuals overhauls for remakes, but if FFIII works out well, I wouldn't mind seeing FFIV or VI getting the same treatment. Then again I'd rather have new games with the same production values as FFIII DS.

I'd like to see a Dragon Quest VI Remix done this way.. but I'd still kill for a simple sprite port :D

Were there any DQ games released on the GB?

There seems to be alot of movement in the FF area but none at the DQ area, isn't DQ very popular in japan. I'm suprised there hasn't been and mention of DQ by square-enix.

Slime Mori Mori is coming out in December. Should move some units.

I don't like it.

It's not faithful to either the original or Amano's art style.

I rather have an improved version of this:

Well actually, thats a good point... if they remake any other FF on the DS, its likely gonna look the same. (i.e. FF:CC ish )

Why not just make FF:CC DS look like this and add a job system to it.

Then do up FFIII with either a faithful 2d look or something that works from the amano's art style.

Has there been any talk of the ds working with the revolution in terms of gamecube titles being played on it? I am thinking possibilities of DS working with like FF:CC gamecube or four swords.

Just interested, plus FF3 is looking very nice.

Now that I think about it. I hate this idea.

I wanted to play the original game, cause except for some early bad translator emulator action, I've never played it.

AMANO's art style. Sorry, but... :D

Maybe the original is unlockable..there is a full English patch though, except for maybe the ending, unless they went and completed it all the way.

i think you mean AMANO's art style. Uematsu is the music composer.

Yeah, I edited them. I knew that. Just I dunno, just worked a 10 hour night shift so very tired right now.

Who's to say they won't include it a bonus?

eh, what FF game really has in game models that look like an Amano drawing? Maybe 9, but it's mostly been sprites or plastic dolls.

Iwata said that when you see Revoution graphics you´ll say wow, and I´m a believer, since I´m seeing a DS game and saying WOW!

To use a lot of card space for something that even previous disc-based FFs of PS1 and PS2 didn't do, for portable gaming which tends to have worse sound hardware/situations than home games... seems a waste. Considering how decently done preivous FF music on GBA has been, real-time FF DS music should be fine.

Damn this looks gorgeous. And being a game I never played before helps too.
Anything in the scans about a release date?

I want this. Badly.
I hope the DS can look foreward to more support like this!
