Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Chunk 1 (CyberConnect2, UE4) Trailer, "PS4 Console Debut"

Not only they won't cut Fort Condor as they will create a fully fledged RTS that will be competitive enough to become a new national passtime in Korea.

Good point.

To re-create 90% of the original's locations in UE4 would take a phenomenal amount of time and likely mean late 2018 release unless the dev team is 150+ people or something.

But on the other hand cutting some of these places would sadden me as well. I loved Fort Condor, thought that was such a weird little place.

The XV team is over 350 people.

Apart from a "please look forward to it" Famitsu interview (or two) over the next 10 months, I now expect complete silence until either TGS or PSX 2016. Not even a E3 showing.

This has done a great job at exciting the masses on something Final Fantasy again and now it's time to put total spotlight on FFXV, starting in March.

I'm guessing it'll appear briefly at Square Enix' E3 conference if they have one. Just simply show off promotional renders of Cloud, Barret and maybe Tifa and Aerith or something along those lines.

Yeah, at most it will be a something like that, a short tech sample or even just a mention of when they will share more information next.

I imagine many will move on to XVI, too, for what it's worth.

The 350 ish team includes coders, asset creators, modellers etc...

So I would imagine it would be a case of some of XV's creative team moving on to other projects (like XVI) and the others mentioned above moving on to projects like VIIR.

Oh yeah... I always forget that is sneaking up. But that most certainly is a "2020(lol)" title. They have so much on their plate right now.

Yup, all true of course. Just thought it was worth consideration! XVI will be a thing and it will release at some point, eventually. Heh.

The scale is overwhelming. I'm having doubts as well of the extent they will go to recreate the entire world in this engine. Witcher 3 had a huge world as well and pulled it off very well. The developers here have all of the designs, lore, story and gameplay already in place. They just have to create it and fill it so it may be possible.

Just rewatched a bunch of Crisis Core stuff. God damn the tears.

I mean, that depends on how XV and VIIr do, no?

I don't believe personally it depends on the success of the previous game, but more so the overall health of the company.

If both XV's and VIIR sales were under expectations then they would hope that the next major entry (XVI) would be the one to grow the brand again.

With each FF they aim to do that, they even had a deluded hope that even XIII could be the next VII. As long as the company has financial and strategical capability then they will keep making them.

If there was a continual decline that's when you would see less AAA, downsizing and shift to mobile etc....

I think we're safe with the current projects and at least XVI, but beyond that is unpredictable.

You speak as if this was some sort of competition. The remake has done nothing to tarnish the hype about FFXV.

Kitase, and I think Tabata, did say the different FF development teams see one another as rivals of sorts and are all competing to make the best FF games.

Nomura has raised the bar quite high with this trailer. Tabata will have to step up his game now (no pun intended) because I don't think a few screenshots, puzzling tweets and vague interviews are going to generate the same level of excitement as this trailer did.

At this point the question that I want to know the most, is how they handle the overworld. I hope they can recapture the moment when you leave Midgar for the first time. I really hope they stick with an actual "overworld". Something like Ni No Kuni did:

Well the next big trailer should come in March. It's not like there is no plan to do anything like that.

I'm gonna need a high five over here.

Zack's one note ,cheery hero-type character and
hisoverly dramatized, cheesy death scene didn't do it for me.

Not to mention Genesis,Angeal and a pretty weak implementation of Zack~Aeris relationship.

It just didn't do for me.If they're gonna be faithful to the original(which they seem to be) keep Zack contained in the same role he had originally and keep his actually
gruesome end.

100% agree.

Zack's death in CC was over dramatic as fuck and way too damn shonen anime.

FF7 was actually surprisingly realistic.

With how vast the FFXV overworld seems to be, I don't see why this would be a problem--at least from a technical perspective. Asset creation is another beast, though. "Overworlds are hard"?

Preach it!

Yeah his death seems more Trauma inducing in the original.Like fuck he died a dog's death, deal with it cloud.

No angels, little lights and passing of the torch. Its just treacherous murder.

I wonder if they can keep such a scene in the remake.I doubt it.
