I got the ticket from the LB challenge but must've messed up the timing on the item and the esper. But at least I have the method down.

Noctis: Cover, regular attack, warp break
Chizuru: regular attack
Rain: undermine, regular attack
Refia: empower, dualcast curaja/esuna as needed
Cecil: focus / curaja as needed, limit break buffs
Friend Noctis: Warp break, regular attack

Basically the standard all buffs / debuff approach to difficult bosses. The timing is the thing for the challenges.

I just do it with focus/omni-veil/embolden/barthundara and barfira up then use dispel on it when he buffs himself.

Having refia with dual cast, I can get everything up quickly and use Cecil as back up healer.

Use them rings for paralyze immunity.

Yes you will. Outside of the money I spent back when Lightning was the only 5* we had and the two bundles we had for like $50 for New Year and the Current one I haven't spent anything else and I have 12 base 5*'s. You will get one eventually.

Wow, congrats! I don't know if I should go all in on this current banner. I got Ling on my daily which is pretty good but I have no 5 stars...

The game does give out a lot of free currency/tickets. I'm guessing there's probably been a good 400+ pulls as free to play from the start. If you started fairly recently then I'd totally recommend rerolling if you're up to it though.

She probably replaces WoL if you don't need a tank (she's a better debuffer) or BCL otherwise (she can hit more statuses). If for some reason you don't need a healer I guess she can replace Refia too since she basically has embolden.

Everyone is maxed/6* except for COD. No other units worth mentioning.

I've got a few powerful Noctii options and a strong Exdeath. Failed both times at around 50%. I'm lacking in the equipment department for sure, and my DPS is pretty weak (Chizuru is my best at 409, no DW units yet). Strategy is basically to keep her full-broke, Rain uses Leadership, COD uses Omni / Barrage, Cecil heals, Lenna heals/esuna's, Chizuru Phantom Edges, and friend nukes with Wicked Light or Thunder Flasks.

Am I doing it wrong, or is my party makeup poop? Only one of my espers is 2* (Ifrit), the rest are 1* and in their 20s (Diabolos is in the teens, so no Man Eater for Chiz).

That's the nature of support characters. Even Rikku, despite how great she is, isn't an auto-lock on your team.

Welp, cleared Pro (but missed some challenges) and now cant get past ELT. Under 50% he's basically spamming Bloodthirst, Roar, and Thunderstorm and nuking my entire team. I can't keep up.

Any OTHER way aside from Dispel to remove buffs?

Edit: Oh DUH, I should use CoD. Omni-Veil will help immensely. Think I've got Barthundara at least, too.

But, I can't wait to read the analysis. I know she won't replace anything on my standard team of Noct, Light, Luneth, Greg, and Refia. (Sometimes guest starring Ramza or Cecil.)

My ARENA team has shifted to Sarah, Ling, Gilbert, Ramza, and Ariana though.

My question: Does Yun replace anyone? Pulling him accelerated my need for Kaiser Knuckles and 2 Champion's Belts, but I was going to do that for Firion anyway.

Ling is the kind of unit to have on the bench and call upon when needed, she isn't a regular but I can see her being useful in some events.

And it all depends on your party, I don't even use a breaker anymore, nothing came out that my regular party couldn't handle yet but the moment will come and then that kind of unit will find its utility.

Depends on your team and fight. I personally think he's in the same general area as Luneth and Gilgamesh and depending on fight, can match Orlandu if you take advantage of Yun's abilitiy to stack Beast Killer or Man Eater.

You want to learn how to chain his Blazing Combo and have someone that can chain with him by equipping them with a fire weapon. I'd need to see the hit animations though.

The really nice thing with Yun is that his attack boosts are not weapon specific, which means he can take advantage of the Thorned Mace or the Tanner Whip without reducing his base attack. His weapon selection is kinda abysmal though. =x

I truly appreciate the fact that the three banner characters are all situationally useful. Frankly, the sooner we get into "this combination is great for this fight" rather than "this character is better than everyone else in every situation," the better.

Yes, all of the despair just washed away. I wish I had saved Metal Cactuar for him. The multiple I had in my Gift Box were about to expire so I used them up a few days ago on "eh" units, since I didn't have the space to hold onto them. I NEED THAT CACTUAR DUNES AGAIN!

Honestly, I didn't think I'd get him so I didn't research into him too much. Realistically, I was pulling for Ling I didn't expect to get Yun in-return. From what I can see, he's a above-average unit, but his equipment choice limits him a bit (and his TM isn't particularly great). He's not God-tier, like Noctis/Orlandu/etc., but he's still a great unit. I'm happy, and so should you!

I just saw your pulls Chrono and congratz!! I know you're usually cursed in F2P's(I remember in Dokkan and OPTC) but it's always nice when you get unexpected luck

Yun should be pretty useful for quite awhile and he has a lot of room for Ability Enhancements later. Just a slight shame Inferno Rage affects only normal attacks because that attack boost is nuts. He should be able to deal some great damage at the end of a chain with it though.

From what I understand, the item use has to be within the turn you kill the boss but not actually deal the final hit (that'd be insane, given how little items deal damage). The LB and the Esper, on the other hand, need to deal the final blow to get credit for it, so you can only do one or the other. From the looks of it, your LB killed the enemy before the Esper attacked, so it didn't get credit for the kill. Unless I'm missing something entirely, that's possible.

BTW, for those that have Yun (like me, I CAN FINALLY SAY THAT!), a fellow on the Brave Exvius Forums did a pretty nice write-up on him.

I posted this earlier for panther.

I would keep Chizuru in personally and swap out both Exdeaths. Reason being is he does this move (preparing or something) where he gains buffs and does strong moves the following turn if you use magic (editr lbs according to the wiki). You need to dispel the buffs without using dispel so fingersnap handles that.

I just do it with focus/omni-veil/embolden/barthundara and barfira up then use dispel on it when he buffs himself.

Having refia with dual cast, I can get everything up quickly and use Cecil as back up healer.

Use them rings for paralyze immunity.

Hmmm...how difficult is this if we don't have Dual Cast? I imagine this to be more of a pain in the ass.

A shame I didn't pull any more Xiaos for easy knuckle farming, but I'm not going to scorn a gift pull when I see one.

Hmmm...how difficult is this if we don't have Dual Cast? I imagine this to be more of a pain in the ass.

It can be done though. CoD can start and cast omni, Cecil focus, refia embolden and then with the materias you can set barfira and barthundara on the other units or use carbuncle, he has both of these skills at 2*.

Then for the heals you can heal with refia and Cecil every turn for a double heal.

It's just more complicated but it can be done. And be sure to have some +HP materias on your units, he can dish out some massive DMG sometimes.

Not going to lie, I'm genuinely surprised at the number of heart-felt responses I've gotten today. I expected a few "Congratulations!", but nothing to the extent of what I received. It's truly surprising. Thanks again to you all.

Whoa, grats Chrono! Glad you finally got your 5*. =) I've always been worried that you'd quit and be gone for good! And grats everyone else as well.

I think I'm holding off on this banner. I want Yun (especially for his TM), but I think my patience is going to hold out for now. Up to 59 tickets saved atm.

My hope is that Orlandu comes out the week of my birthday, February 16th, or the week after, if so I may just totally go all out on him.

Thanks for the info. What's a good team for this? My main team is WoL, CoD, Refia, and Noctis. The last spot depends on what's going on. Most of the time I sub out Refia with Lightning and have Chizuru for the last spot. I imagine that I need to take Cecil this time around.
